Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Question. I have an ARC of the following anthology which I'll be reading during the next round. I can count this for the challenge, right? It's 7 new stories in the anthology, not a bind-up of ones otherwise available.

Once Upon a Twelfth Night by Christina Alexandra

If yes, letters wise it would be just the title and authors that can be used, right?

You can use it. I tend not to use chars but I do not think there is a rule aganist it.

Just consider the editor the author, not the authors of the individual stories.

What if there is no editor that you can see? Nowhere in the ARC is an editor credited, it just lists each author and the name of their story. The cover doesn't specify one either, it just lists the author names in the order of the individual stories (which is alphabetical by author last name).

Since all the authors are listed on GR and there is no editor, any of the author names should be fine to use.

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments I finished the second BOM, and added it to the SS. Off to my last book for the this round

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Just FYI: I just started reading the BOM The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James

message 408: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Our Round Four word is "White Water Rafting"
Tags: Fire, Heat, China, Dragon, Autumn

Books need to be finished after 10 PM London time on Friday / 5 PM EST

Planning sheet for Round 4 is also up.

message 410: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments I had to remove one of my books that I claimed as I won't get to it this week. It was the C in the 4th spelling.

I should have the 2 books I have left remaining on the sheet done by Friday (both Z's).

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments I finished my O book and last one for this round, I'll see what I can find for the next one

Great! Thanks Abir!

April | 200 comments So this house hunting and packing thing is busy work. I read just one of thy 2 I was supposed to finish. I'll move the other one to Round 4

Sal and Gabi Break the Universe was middle-grade. Good but didn't move past that genre like Percy Jackson.

I feel bad for this because I'll always compare them to Percy Jackson, like I'll always compare books about magic and magical school to Harry Potter.
Without them there are no others. With them, nothing lives up to them.

message 415: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Thank you, I moved books around so we are good.

message 416: by Foxy Grandma (new)

Foxy Grandma (foxygrandma) | 450 comments I put a Z on the spreadsheet but it also works for most of the other letters if you need it. I should finish it tonight maybe...but definitely by lunchtime tomorrow.

Now to find books for Round 4

We are headed for another great finish for this round!

Just finished my last one so I’m tapping out for round 3.

Happy reading everyone 🙂

message 418: by Foxy Grandma (new)

Foxy Grandma (foxygrandma) | 450 comments I am off today and could get one more book in for Round 3 if we need it. Or should I hold off till Round 4

message 419: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 22 comments Just finished A Little Life and it was great, but im definitely going to read some fantasy books Jhmingos- nothing realistic for sure! Even dystopian, as long as its not like 1984 which really got to me for some reason. No true crime though lol:)

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 441 comments I have 140 pages left of mine and I’m hopeful I will get it done before 10pm tonight

Jhmingos | 704 comments Updated the SS with my last book for this round. I'm having an issue with the Master Task List. It's not automating for One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. I have it logged in my personal list though.

message 422: by Foxy Grandma (new)

Foxy Grandma (foxygrandma) | 450 comments Is there a combined spreadsheet somewhere of the books recommended by each team or do we need to just go to each list?

message 423: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Beth, we are good if you want to start your books for the next round or you can find a book. I will log books at 4 PM EST so whatever makes you happy. Also, no master list that I know of but Judith has linked them in the front of the thread.

Jhmingos, I will check on the master task list. Thank you

Gem, if you can't, no worries, but please tell us as it is part of a complete word and the next word won't get points if it is incomplete and I will need the time to move things around. Thank you

It's fixed our last word went one line longer than I had the formula go for Round 3 tasks.

Foxy Grandma wrote: "Is there a combined spreadsheet somewhere of the books recommended by each team or do we need to just go to each list?"

I will say that Team HP & the Deathly Hallows has a lot of recommendations up and organized by genre. It might be a good one to start with.

Sorry there isn't a master list, there is just too many and a lot of teams are adding throughout the challenge.

message 427: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments I just looked at making a list but one person can only add 100 books so there are too many books to add. (You pass 100 by the 2nd team).

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 441 comments Yay, just finished. But I didn’t like it so hopefully I pick better next book. Please can someone add to the spreadsheet that I’m finished? Thank you and great round!

I just finished my last one and Judith and I have everything moved over but Melanie’s last one. I will check back in an hour for it.

message 431: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Sorry, I'm actually not going to get to my last one before the cutoff. I'll take it off the sheet.

Lexi | 4247 comments No worries, I will go check us in for the round. No one finish a book for the next 45 min please

message 433: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments description

Great job everyone, we finished Round 3 and are still in 4th place out of 15 teams. Overall, we read 114 books (1 less than last week but different people have different weeks) and within 350 pages of the same number of pages. However, we are within 200 points of 3rd and 5th is less than 100 points behind us so the top five are very close.

If anyone still wants to read The Sun Down Motel, it needs to be read by Aug 2.

The next two BOMs are Pachinko - Aug 2 and Spin the Dawn - Aug 16. I'll get the links up for them closer to when they start. For any BOM, i.e. Spin the Dawn, you can read it before the start date (Aug 16) and just answer the questions then, esp since it is 5 days before the end of the game.

Jhmingos | 704 comments Can we have more letters added to the SS? I just finished a book that needs to be logged in.

message 435: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Opened two more words, that filled up quickly.

message 436: by Jhmingos (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments Thanks! Just added my book

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Oh sweet, I own a copy of Spin the Dawn. Might be packed up somewhere because we had some flooding in my basement. I'll try to find it, but if not I can request from my library and I will still be happy to knock it off my TBR.

I'll be done with The Sun Down Motel before the end of this week. I'm really enjoying it. =]

Judith (brownie72011) | 7434 comments Mod
Just as an FYI - the mods set standard page numbers for BOM so everyone who reads it gets the same book points regardless of the edition read. Usually it's what most of us already have down on the spreadsheet.

But for Pachinko, it's 548. I've updated everyone's entry already, but didn't want people confused as to why the page number was now different.

message 441: by April (new)

April | 200 comments Finished The Other Alcott

She was an interesting person. An artist in Europe while the Impressionists were getting started. She was friends with Mary Cassatt. And had 2 exhibits in The Salon in Paris.

But most people just think of her as Amy March

message 442: by Bee (new)

Bee (abirbee) | 667 comments finished my first book for this round The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho, it's on the spreadsheet, my second book Never Have I Ever: My Life (So Far) Without a Date by Katie Heaney will be done by tomorrow, fingers crossed

message 443: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Abir, can you add your book to your wheel shelf please? Thank you

message 444: by April (new)

April | 200 comments SO I have a question:

For the task, Read a book written in espistolary style (e.g. diary / letters / emails)

Does the whole book have to be this way? or can it be both diary/letters and regular

message 445: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Usually it is over 50%. There was an exception made for the BOM which the mods said was allowed to be used even if it was a bit under 50%.

April | 200 comments Lexi wrote: "Usually it is over 50%. There was an exception made for the BOM which the mods said was allowed to be used even if it was a bit under 50%."

Ok, since I listened to it, I can't look at it to tell, but it didn't feel 50% so I won't change the task

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Hi :) I just finished my BOM....please remind me...do I get BOM points and put it in the spell it out? Or just the BOM?

message 448: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Lindsay,

I fixed the links on your 3 day of questions and added it to the SS for the spell it out so you are good to go.
