MPG are also tags so you are good using westerns

Yes, plurals are fine

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Just wanted to give an update since we're coming up on the deadline. I will have my last book for this round done around 3-3:30 pm EST, so an hour and a half or so before the deadline.

Lexi | 4247 comments Great, all we have to move over is one full spelling and the incomplete one. I am not sure if I will finish mine or not in time but I got the Y done.

Added it to SS, thank you.

Did you like it? I own a copy but have not read it?

Amanda | 22 comments Thank you- it was amazing honestly. Interesting twist on a few fairy tales, and very strong, intelligent women. I did not want it to end!

Oh, that sounds great. I have a copy of Spinning Silver, but haven't read it yet. I did read and love one of her other books though, Uprooted. I should make time before the challenge is over to read Spinning Silver.

This book sounds right up my alley, adding it to my list.

Lexi | 4247 comments description

Great job everyone, we finished Round 1 and are up to 4th place out of 15 teams so moving upwards. Overall, we read 110 books (2 more than last week but different people have different weeks).
Edited: 2 more books but much longer books, we read 4,000 more pages this round as a team.

We are 3rd for hard letters, and have more next week.

We are 7th on book of the month points. The Sun Down Motel seems to be enjoyed but everyone who reads it and thank you to the 4 people who already have read it.

That's awesome. Only 2 more books than the last round but because we read 4000 more pages, our score was around 400 points higher. I'll see if I can add some more hefty reads

message 368: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Just an FYI, I don't know if it matters but the formulas for counting the number of books read in the Member Info tab were incorrect in the planning sheet so I fixed it (it wasn't counting all of the spellings we did).

They're incorrect in the actual sheet as well for all of the rounds if one of the captains want to correct it.

I noticed as I went to check to make sure I was actually making my target for each round and saw my count for round 2 was off.

message 369: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Melanie, good catch. I fixed it on the main SS as well. I had to add another word for us and fixed the page count for points formula and task formula but missed the members one. That was us reading 115 more books, which makes more sense. Still, great job on longer books.

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Wow, nice catch! This is why I don't volunteer myself for playing around with spreadsheets! My husband does it for a living though--can't teach me a thing.

Anywho, I finished reading a book on 7/9/20...is that still last week's round? Or this new round? I forgot to put it on the spreadsheet right away and I can't find a list of exactly what day/time the new round started so I'm all confused. Sorry!

message 371: by Sanah (last edited Jul 11, 2020 09:51PM) (new)

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) I finished the Henna Artist!

Task 76-Read a book set in India

The main character's name is Lakshmi, so can that be used as part our points for the round?

message 372: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Thank you, Sanah and we need lots of Ls this round so that is great.

Lindsay, rounds end every other Friday and it was this Friday so we cannot use the book.

Off to my next book, I don't know which yet, but I'll keep you guys posted. I will definetly do the second BOM as planned and Our Souls at Night like I planned

Sixty,

I was checking books and looked at your book, Burning Chrome (Sprawl, #0) by William Gibson . You had it down for the task 'text only cover'. There are some things on the cover behind the text, so I switched the task to '115 circles on cover'.

Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to switch it to something else/were planning to use circles on cover for a different book.

That is interesting. You can also use minor characters so there are a bunch of letters if you want to reread them.

That's fine, thanks! I put it as text only because there was nothing really definable in the background and you can't see the circles on my copy, but you can in the picture on the site.

Melanie (mvalente89) | 1026 comments Just wanted to update that I'll have my first book done for the round either tonight or tomorrow.

I'm a bit behind as I received word from my work that work from home will be extended for the remainder of the year. That meant I needed to go into the office to grab stuff that's been left there since I started working from home 4 months ago. Plus I had to spend time reworking my home setup as now that's it's permanent, I needed to change some stuff around.

I still have a to-do list that's a million miles long, but I need a break after 4 non-stop days of working on this.

I home for the rest of the year too. I hope you get a good set-up going.

message 382: by April (new)

April | 200 comments Wow. I'm at work because we are a technical school. But we are in TN so we could be sent home again.
I'm behind on reading because we put our house on the market last week and had 20 viewings and 2 offers.
I should get my 3 books done but it will be close

The One by John Marrs One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich Open and Shut (Andy Carpenter #1) by David Rosenfelt

Btw are there any particular letters you guys need?

message 394: by Lexi (new)

You'll be fine. hehe

That's a good approach. I've done for some series or if I see it in the bargain bin for a dollar or two and think, sure, why not?

A Little Life was good but it was definitely the most depressing book I've ever read. After finishing it, you'll probably want your next book to be something light and cheerful :). I made the silly mistake to make my next book a true crime novel haha
