What are you reading this week? (June 1-June 7)

Can you believe it is June?! It's almost summer. Goodreads and many other publications have lists circulating about what you should read this summer. What are your top 3 books you hope to read this summer?!

I am hoping to read
Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland which I started reading this week,
The Island of Sea Women and
The Guest List

I'm starting Housegirl today, and I hope to read Lady in the Lake soon too. I read Sunburn (also by Laura Lippman) last summer and it was INCREDIBLE, so I was really excited to read more by her!

Yes, I will add Lady in the Lake to my TBR pile. I really enjoyed Sunburn. It was an excellent noir!

Burn the Place: A Memoir
Evvie Drake Starts Over and
Untamed by Glennon Doyle

I ordered a "mystery box" from one of my favorite bookstores, Zenith Bookstore in Duluth, MN. I asked for books that were upbeat and light, but not too formulaic. One of the books they sent me was Rules for Visiting. This definitely fit the bill! The main character is a 40 year old woman who is a botanist. She decides that she wants to be a better friend, so heads out to visit a handful of her closest friends. It is rather heartwarming, and just what I needed in this moment.

Lauren - It is a lot of fun. Where my daughter is - Saint Paul, MN - The library is closed, but has been doing contactless pickup for weeks of things that are still on the shelves. They also offer this - tell us what you like, and we'll pick some books out for you. APL will probably be overloaded with doing other things when you start to reopen, but could be a useful service, especially for vulnerable people who are nervous to enter the library.

We are hoping to have something like this up and running soon-- we're all looking forward to be able to getting back in our collections again for sure!
