WofF TrudyAnThe provincial bird of British Columbia is the Stellar’s Jay. Though they can vary in colour a bit, the ones that I see in my yard have beautiful dark blue feathers and a black hood. The cover of Where Women Are Kings closely resembles the colours of the Stellar’s Jay. On my monitor, the cover looks somewhat purple, but the book itself is very definitely dark blue.

WoF: Silver I read All the Bright Places
by Jennifer NivenMy state bird is the bluebird. I choose this book for a few reasons:
The cover is blue (with a bird on it)
The blue bird is seen as a bringer of joy and hope. The title reflects that feeling of joy. The story is also about characters seeking that bit of hope and light through the dark spots of their lives.
It is also said the first sighting of a blue bird for the year means spring is finally starting after a long winter.
The book transitions from Winter to Spring

WoF Sharon Biskithttps://www.amazon.com/Mama-Day-Glori...
The Georgia State Bird is the Brown Thrasher. It makes it home throughout the South but is often found in marsh areas. Mama Day lives on an island off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina claiming no state as its own. Thrashers are a representation of stability, balance, harmony, and inclusivity and a representation of free will. All of these adjectives define Mama Day and the magic and care she brings to others. As well, brown thrashers can migrate from New York to Georgia, and Cocoa (a major character in the book) “migrates from New York to Georgia and back again.

I'm curious why you linked to the Amazon listing. You can link to the Goodread's page by clicking on "add book/author" on the tiny link above the comment box. The result would look like this: Mama Day.

WoF PeggyMy bird is the black-tailed godwit and I read
for three reasons: (1) the bird is a shorebird and the book is set on an island which I connect with shores, (2) the women on the cover seem to be standing on some kind of shore, and (3) the bird forages in water for food, and the book is about women divers who 'forage' in the water for shellfish.Pages:

You can count the books you read in the toppler as challenge books. If you want to switch this out for the book on the journalist, go ahead as long as it fits your national/state bird.

WoF: KristieI read All the Broken People. I chose it because my national bird is the bald eagle and according to the National Wildlife Federation they prefer to live near "lakes and reservoirs with lots of fish and surrounding forests." The cover of my book shows a woman looking out a window at a lake surrounded by woods. It looks to me like the exact sort of place a bald eagle would live.

It was a good story, wasn't? I saw the movie on the BBC channel, originally, and was dumbfounded when I stumbled upon the book to read many years later.
I think we are tied for the glue stick unless someone comes along and bumps us off yet.

It was a very good story, but I never saw the movie. Maybe I will now. It's just such a book that is never getting old, that counts for ever age between adolescent and adult. It's very actual too.
