Read in Polish. Finished on 6th January.
Za pięć rewolta by Dawid Kain
I found this book disturbing. I understand that author wanted to mark some problems of society by exaggeration of violence, sex and other disgusting things mentioned in book, but in my opinion it was to much. I doubt it will ever be translated to other languages. ;)

3. Dziewczyny z Powstania, by Anna Herbich ****

Dziewczyny z Powstania by Anna Herbich
Warsaw Uprising had fatal consequences for people living in Warsaw. 10,000 Polish Soldiers and 150,000-200,000 civilians died during fights and German "clean-up" of the city.

Anna Herbich presents eleven stories of women which were living during Warsaw Uprising in the city. Some of them were taking part in uprising and some of them were just living there. In my opinion such book is really important, because in many conflicts(also during Warsaw Uprising) story and life of women is hidden behind fights and big politics.

Calico Joe by John Grisham
I really enjoyed this novel. Thanks to preface with baseball rules and slang it wasn't hard for me to understand technical stuff connected to sport I have not played or watched in my life.

Everything is understandable, for person out of baseball world. This was nice reading. I especially enjoyed it that there were no lawyers in John Grisham book. ;)

No Country For Old Men by Cormac McCarthy
In my opinion it is really good novel. I enjoyed it very much. It also made me to think about world and places that exists only in our memories. I definitely must get back to Cormac McCarthy in future.

6. Wyspa klucz, by Małgorzata Szejnert *****
Read in Polish. Finished on 1st February.
Wyspa klucz by Małgorzata Szejnert
Małgorzata Szejnert made great work here. She researched and described topic which in Poland is unknown. This topic is Ellis Island. Really good reading with memories of immigrants to US and people who worked on this island.

I must say that I've had big expectations about this book. Unfortunately I'm highly disappointed. For example The Stand was much better book. I will probably write more disappointing details in our group place for reading of this book.

Niesamowita opowieść by Stefan Grabiński
I enjoy Grabiński books written in archaic polish. Most of them are mix of dark climate, paranormal activities, horrors and nightmares. This book with short stories was also good reading. :)

Great book about Czechs. Mariusz Szczygieł shows how much Czechs differ from Poles, although we live so close to each other. Book consists of couple essays about different topics. For example Czechs atheism, humour, irony and other Czech society characteristics. Great reading! :)
