Kieren | 74 comments So I'm curious, who is a fan of real books and who likes e-books? I was all about the real thing until I realised how many books I could have on hand at once. So I mainly have e-books. I do have a couple of real books set aside for the challenge.

Kylie I'm still undecided ... Every book I've read in the past 12 months has been hard copy, minus The Iron Fey series (books 1-4 ... Found hard copies of the first two books of the spin off series over Xmas) ...

I like the ease and convenience of the Kindle (and not having to find a bookmark) ... Especially handy if I'm reading while the kids are playing and I'm interrupted quickly ...

I find though, that it still like to have a hard copy of the books I really enjoy ... So sometimes end up buying twice ;)

The beauty of he kindle means less ability to lend books out and never get them back - as has happened to me recently :(

Well I have mostly moved to Kindle books since it saves significant $$ so that means more books... *grin* but I also needed the space. We dont have any more space for bookshelves in our apartment.

I tend to only buy hard copies of books in a series I collect. Not to put on a shelf and never read, but I still like holding books enough that I want some around.

I do have to admit that I own many books on the Kindle as well as hard copies. This started happening when I would lend out a book and I would forget how fast I read when compared to others so that book would be gone for quite a while.

Valery | 22 comments I don't buy books anymore, I only borrow. So for me, it's largely a matter of which library copy I can get my hands on first, paper or digital. I do prefer digital though because it's a lot easier to hold my Kindle and turn pages while nursing my son, and my daughter loves to pull bookmarks out of books. Also, my Kindle is pretty much the only handheld electronic device in the house she hasn't figured out how to turn on yet.

Shar I usually try and borrow before I buy, and I'll borrow whichever copy is readily available. But! If I am to buy a book I'd most likely by a digital copy. The only books I"m finding I buy now are reference books, or books by authors I want to get signed. It is expensive to move books from one home to another, and that's the main reason I've transitioned to digital.

Terri Kleinberg | 18 comments I love books, the physical hard cover or paperback book is such a part of my life that I still prefer to read 'real' books. That isn't really practical anymore. For me having a Kindle or a tablet is a matter of space. Four years ago we took this job as managers of an apartment community, we downsized from 1600 square feet to 987. I had to give up 3 book cases. I only buy hard copy of books that I intend to collect and keep. The Kindle allows me to look for books in my jammies, a practice my local library frowns upon. I still check books from the library every few weeks, but having a deadline to get something read is annoying.
