Have you read Vicious by V.E. Schwab? It's more sci-fi, but I loved the concept and I found it quite dark and twisted (especially the characters)!

You might like Shattered Dreams, Shattered Hopes and Shattered Fears by Ulff Lehmann. They are the first three books of a very dark fantasy series. Book 4 Shattered Walls is being written as I speak.

if you still need a book recommendation I think you should read One of Us is Lying it's darker then it's initially thought

Have you read the Ilona Andrews catalog? Her Kate Daniels series has quite a few dark moments. Well thought out world, excellent character development. If you like Briggs you'll probably like Andrews. They're amazing. They also write a good sci-fi series and have a couple good paranormal.

Also, Laurel K Hamilton is a good one for a dark read. Her Anita Blake is dark w/vampires and shifter and her Merry Gentry is dark with Fae. Jim Butcher and Simon R. Green are also both really good.
