Stephen (stephenT) Call in sick when you are sick. If you have sniffly sneezy achey, do NOT go to work.

message 3: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Sucking it up and going on in usually just insures that everyone else gets sick too.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i went 15 years at work without calling in sick or being late. that stretch included some weird infection i got in africa and two broken bones (ankle, foot). that loyalty helped much as the factory closed down over two years ago. i went another year plus on my new job and then got really sick and missed 4 days in a row. guess i have been blessed to not have really been that sick over the years. during my heavy drinking days i never missed due to a hangover despite feeling like amy winehouse on many occasions. i toughed those days out since they were self induced

everyone has their own tolerance levels and i agree with stephen that if you have a fever or could be infectious you should stay home

message 5: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Especially with Pig Flu screwing around the world. What if you went in your weakened condition, and contracted said Pig Disease? Oh the shame.

message 6: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Well? Are you going or not?

message 7: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments No, I called in. Ninth time in nine years. I've got, oh, about 80 days left:)

message 8: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I almost never call in sick, even when I am (unless I know I'd be contagious or there's a possibility I might pass out at work) - in fact the last time I was sick (with bronchitis but I didn't know until a day after I was sent home, 2 years ago) my boss sent me home for a few days. I spent my time watching The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys series.

I never stayed home with illness when I was in high school, either. I missed one day of school during my junior year. That's all. I missed getting a perfect attendance award by one day.

I just like to be around other people/my peers.

Stephen (stephenT) Heidi is a spreader of disease?

I don't go in if I'm knowingly contagious. I said that.

Stephen (stephenT) Everyone has lost their sense of humor. Clearly this is Throttling Thursday

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Stephen... it's 8 in the morning.

I haven't had a sick day since 2006. It seems I made need a mental health day soon though. I don't call in easily, but I don't get sick easily.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Heh. I got it, Stephen!

I think I may have said this before, but the U is getting pretty crazy about the swine flu thing. And I can't stop sneezing, those huge, window-rattling sneezes that scare people nearby. So I think I made the right decision.

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Read somewhere that 90% of all flu cases are in fact H1N1. :) So one time, I got this flu, and missed one entire week of my trial exam! ...had to retake it later though...

message 17: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Oh, and the same day I left, someone else reported that they'd had a confirmed case of H1N1, so the school announced it on the PA system, and all the kids sharing a hall with me panicked because they thought it was me! *cackles*

message 18: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments You sure like asterisks, Rachel...

message 19: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments ACH!!!! THE MATT!!!!!

*keeps very still*

message 20: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I'm just curious why you post so frequently.

message 21: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments ...eh...what?

Is this a trick? Are you going to eat me after I speak to you and answer all your questions? Do I have to tell you stories for 1000 nights so that you'll forget you want to eat me?

Matthieu | 1009 comments Just answer the question.

message 24: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Why I post so frequently? Don't a lot of people do this?

message 25: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments *keeps very still* *sniffs for the ficus*

message 26: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Yes, but you seem to post 50+ times a day. And it's often just inane banter.

I'm not faulting you... I'm simply curious.

message 27: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments No I don't! I post once or twice a day, on several different threads! *cackles*

OR...According to someone whom I will not name, I'm a sentient robot and frequently hack into the system so I can spread my madness.

Do I have to hide now? ...Are you going to eat me now?

Banter is not inane. The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play. *cackles*

message 28: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Simplicity. Yes. Inquiring minds want to know.

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments ...The Matt is gone...where could he be?

Inquiring minds want to know what??

See, you baffled again.

message 30: by Félix (new)

message 36: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No?

message 37: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Truth to everything?? 42. Was that what you meant?

message 38: by Félix (new)

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yep. bye.

message 48: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1106 comments Try again tomorrow, Larry!

message 49: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I don't have h1n1, just so you now...sinus infection/bronchitis. H1n1 apparently hurts more. Like your muscles are in pain. But it's good to know what I have, because I was feeling like a wuss, and now I can wear my illness like a badge:)

message 50: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I never thought you had Pig Flu RA. I was just fear mongering. That's my job you know. I hope you feel better, though.
