I can't remember the author or title. I read this book around 2005. The book starts with the character's father dying in a storm on a bridge (Prologue). Some time later the main character (Female) learns that a woman who looks almost exactly like her has been killed although she is no relation (As far as she knows). There is a villain named Barney I think. In one scene he makes sure to wash the sink thoroughly after shaving because his mother insisted upon it. Barney murdered the woman who looks like the main character. My memory is hazy but I think he murdered the wrong woman because he was actually obsessed with the main character. Her father had two families and the woman who was murdered was her half-sister.

Hello Kris. Thanks for trying to help me. Unfortunately, I can't remember anything for certain. I think she was a reporter. Mid Twenties to Mid Thirties. She sees a picture of a murdered woman in a newspaper who looks exactly like her and then decides to investigate. I think her father was driving his car on the bridge when the bridge collapsed.
