Any thoughts on The Tethered Mage?

I realise that I am the only one in this group, and so no one may ever read these comments, but I thought I might as well write something since I started this group :)
I found the magic system in this book really interesting. I hadn't considered the idea of a non-magic person being able to control a magic person and how this could effect things.
The idea of non-magic people seeking to utilise magic for their own gain is fascinating, and I think would be likely sought as a way to lessen the strength of some (magic people) over others who would likely fear the magic they cannot access for themselves. And to frame it as protecting the magic people, protecting them from people who wish to use the magic for themselves by... keeping the magic for yourself?
It was interesting to see the two sides, the idea that these magic people were really being protected, but also that they were having their own bodily autonomy restricted as a result.
