Speed reading only works on YA books, but not on school textbooks.

Marie (clarisse723) | 31 comments This couldn't have been more timely. I'm having my exams the day after tomorrow and I haven't even reviewed a single subject out of ten. All I could think of is how I would buy more YA books and binge read them when all of this is over. Oh god help! :<

Kathy | 56 comments It does not always work, but what I used to do was read books I enjoyed that were on the topic of the class. Greek and Roman History; entertaining books, but always bits about the society and way of life. Archeology, with quite a bit of information, but still a good read. It was really amazing how well this worked.

YA, well this is a tough one. It could also work to find one or two people who have really absorbed the material, and get an explanation in English. (Don't know if it is the same, but when I was in schooll the textbooks were written in a language that I could not always recognize.)

I like Katie.g's idea too. Kind of like having one absolutely fabulous cookie to reward yourself on a job well done.

Ericka Scott Nelson | 51 comments Most college reading is not meant to be breezed through...it's just too dense and the ideas are complex and take time to develop. I think annotating the text is one of the best ways to understand it better, but I doubt it will make the reading of it any faster, unfortunately.
