yes i know i was super shocked too! and now i predict that Lila and Kell will meet and ahhh that will be badasseryx2!! can't wait ;)) i'll read the next 5 chapters today if you're up to the same place as me!
also Branwenn, if you want we can bring down the chapter count per day again, maybe 3 chapters a day? i don't want to stress you :))

yes the worldbuilding is amazing, i'm not as captivated by her writing as some people seem to be but she's definitely a brilliant author :))
and yep i'm happy to continue the series and read all three books if you guys want to!

hehehe i don't think VE Schwab is big on romance (sadly) but they're definitely pretty great characters together ;)))

I’m up to Part VII, Chapter III and DAMN! I had such high hopes for Holland!! He really let me down.... I love that Kell and Lila are becoming kinda friends though, they both need more friends ahahah. This book is getting better!
Well, I'm TOTALLY going to buddy read the trilogy with you guys so that's a big yes from me.And I agree, Schab doesn't seem the best romance writer but sure Kell and Lila need more friends, lol.
I'm not stressed, don't worry, it's just that sometimes I might be getting a little behind due to my headaches and school (low neck pain is really tiresome at times.) It's also the time difference that makes it look like too much. I can handle 5 chapters per day just fine. Three are just too few.Thanks for suggesting this though Darce, that's really thoughtful

I’m not gonna lie, I’m not really loving this book as much as everyone else seems to be from the reviews, or as much as you seem to be, Branwenn. I’m not really sure why, I just don’t think I dig VE Schwab’s writing as much as I wanted to? Her world-building is amazing but I can’t get into the characters as much as I hoped to, and characters are a major thing for me. Maybe VE Schwab’s just not for me, but I’m not completely sure whether I’ll continue the series after we finish ADSOM, sorry guys!! I’m really sorry, I know I kept saying I’d read the trilogy with both of you (Branwenn and Yanitta) but I’m just not loving this and life is too short for books you don’t love :(( I’m so sorry. I hope you guys love reading the trilogy together! Sorry again :(( I’ll definitely finish book 1 though :)) I’ll read the next 5 chapters now! I’m currently at Part XI, Chapter III. Hope you guys can forgive me for ditching you for books 2&3❤️

Absolutely! Don't worry about it! I know what it feels like to be stuck in a series you don't like! V. E. Schwab's plot and writing style are pretty much what I look for most in books so it just clicked! No need to feel bad about it, I myself hate plenty of popular books too. Whatever the case, I'm still finishing the trilogy cause damn I care too much about those idiots, lol

someone today asked me if i wanted to buddy read the rest of this series with them, but as i told you, i don't know if i'll finish the series, so i sent them the link for this group and told them to join the buddy read with you guys! her name is Shruti and i hope you guys will be happy to buddy read the rest of the series with her :)) she LOVED the first book so she's super excited to finish the series! hopefully she decides to join the group and you guys can have heaps of fun buddy reading the rest of the trilogy together :)) xx

I'm at Chapter I, Part VIII, due to the maths test I had to take today. I got caught up studying so time for reading was a luxury I couldn't afford.Thoughts, hmmm..So damn many I can't even begin to describe them.
I loved the way Lila shot Holland it was a totally badass moment. Poor Kell is the only thing that went through my mind while reading part VII and honestly what the hell is Holland's deal? I don't know, he just pissed me a bit but my best guess is that he'll end up like the dead cutthroat, a sort of black eyed demon or whatever. It's a pretty edgy story but I'm totally in love with it so far and I think that summarizes my thoughts best.
I know right? Holland just pops up at wrong places with wrong intentions that totally pisses me off and also scares me a bit. When Lila came back and fought Holland, I was literally like GO GIRL!
By the way, thanks Darce for introducing me to this beautiful group of people! ♥️

I’ll slow down and wait for you now, I’m at Part XII, Chapter III, so I’ll stop reading until you catch up, no stress hon :)). Glad you’re loving it! Holland's getting more interesting by the minute (still don't know if I wanna kill or marry him, help) and I was certain that bitch Ned would reappear and he's definitely gonna become the vessel of the demon like magic creature [hide spoiler].I'm putting this comment on spoiler tags since I don't know whether Mahi has already read the part, although most of you have already read the said chapters.

I just finished part VI. I'm liking the magic and setup, but the writing seems to be clumsy sometimes.
I agree, although I like the descriptions sometimes it feels a bit rushed and rough around the edges
Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I'll be done with it by the end of the day:-D:-D:-D.I can safely say that I enjoyed both the world building and the characters well enough to definitely continue the series and check out Schwab's other works.

hey what a coincidence, i just came to say that i finished ADSOM today as well! it was a pretty good ending, i'm happy to say i enjoyed it even if i won't be continuing the series.

And it's quite alright Mahi, you're already reading too many books, I wander how you manage! And definitely, the world has simply too many books waiting to be read, I'm sure we'll get the chance!
I personally want to comment at the way the world building isn't at all rushed and it doesn't even feel foreign. It's so fluent and it all somehow makes sense and feels right without too much effort.
I'm glad I picked it up, Schwab has now become one of my most favorite contemporary authors.
Also, are we continuing with the sequel?
