Laughing all the way to the Mosque by Zarqa Nawal - four stars

This is the autobiography of a practising Muslim woman living in Canada and working in journalism and television. I had never heard of her or her sitcom, Little Mosque on the Prairie, but now I'm going to have a look for it. The book is very funny, mostly because of Zarqa's own character. It seems she's one of those people who blurt out whatever she's thinking which doesn't go down very well in certain situations such as when she's volunteering for the dead body washing committee!

What I particularly like about this book is the matter of fact explanations of some interesting aspects of Muslim culture and I now feel educated but in a light, friendly way.
