I have a feeling I'm going to find it very different considering the last time I fully read it was when I was in year 6 or 7 as well... I'm starting it today so we'll see!
Was it nice to read it at the beach? I live in the city of beaches but I've only taken a book to the beach to read once😂 I find it's really hard to read on the beach because it's so noisy and I usually read in my quiet room whilst sitting on my bed...

So I'm about 30 pages in (I'm so not used to reading physical books so I'm surprised by how slow I'm reading) and I'm wondering: is it ever explained who the Three Fates killed when they snipped the thread? I remember reading somewhere that (view spoiler) ... anyone who's read the whole series know?

Nostalgia definitely plays a part in it. Like I have this absolutely battered copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and whenever I read it it makes me feel so nostalgic it gives me the distinct feeling of returning home after a long journey I didn't even realise I'd gone on.
... is it kind of controversial to be liking Harry Potter right now considering JK Rowling's controversial comments on twitter?🤔 would like to hear people's thoughts on this!

Nope, I don't though I did read all the series...
I'm not sure it's mentioned later on

in all honesty i don't think it was ever really specified. it also seems weird to me that they'd appear for percy and be staring at him when it wasn't even his life thread. so i really don't know! lol

(I haven't seen)"
she's been tweeting some really transphobic comments

honestly that's my biggest struggle right now. because harry potter has meant so much to me and played such a huge role in my life it seems impossible to just like...stop? i loved daniel radcliffe's response to her tweet though, essentially saying don't let her ruin something sacred for you. if you identified with a character, if you perceived them to be trans or gay or a POC, etc., then you take that and you identify with that and don't let her comments change and ruin that for you.

Ha! Riordan thought we'd forget about the Fates? Kadi certainly did not😂 *Continues to read Percy Jackson books with eagle eyes*

I just read a tweet that was a response to Rowling's tweet and it just made me think that yeah actually some women don't menstruate. Some women have medical issues where they literally don't get their period. And that doesn't stop them from being a woman so I guess that makes her argument invalid.
@Elizabeth I read some comments from people on instagram saying they felt guilty about reading Harry Potter now but I'd say separate the book from the author. She is not her work and her work is not her. As much as an author can try and embody their work imagine about authors who right horrible things that happen in their story like murder and other things. That doesn't make them a bad person. And vice versa. People who write good things into their stories aren't necessarily a good person either.
Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting but you guys are my book people and I need someone to discuss book things with😂 Like has anyone watched the show (or read the book) Defending Jacob? In the show (view spoiler) And in Rowling's case just because you write a good story about heroic things and good people doesn't make you a good person.
If you read all that then thanks wow😂

@Syd any time you feel like you need someone to rant just run to me because I'm always ready to rant about something😂😂

and yes reading anywhere but my quiet room is difficult for me, but the beach was quiet enough for me to read the last ~100 pages! and plus everyone was spread out due to covid so that was a plus 😂
😂"Rowling who?" indeed!
The sound of the waves at the beach must be so soothing when you're reading. For us it's suuuper hot here now like 45 degrees celsius so the beach is a no unless you want to burn😂

I'd appreciate any constructive feedback or thoughts you had on it, whether you enjoyed it, found it difficult, etc. It'll be useful to know for future quizzes!

Darn I couldn't remember Luke's last name so I didn't add it to the answer😂🤦🏻♀️ I've actually changed your score and given you the mark for it now. But that's a great score considering it's been a while since you read it! I tried to be very specific with some of the answers because I wanted a variety of hard and easy questions and I also picked the most randomest things to make into a question😂
Glad you enjoyed it!! This quiz-making is a lot of fun!

jessica wrote: "how do we know how many we got right for the quiz?"
Hey Jessica, originally the scores released automatically but then I realised that if I don't release the scores automatically I can change how many points people get because the points system on the quiz doesn't do half-right answers, it only does right or wrong😂 So I've changed it so that I can release the points after I've reviewed all the answers given. I've just released your points now so you should get an email saying how many you got!
I'm going to do it this way with future quizzes as well. It just means if people have any issues with answers I can give them the points they deserve if they got half the answer right for questions that are 2 marks or 4 marks.

That was the last time I read it too! Well, fully anyways. I've picked it up again in the past couple of years but only to read parts of it. This is my official reread of it and it still holds up. I think I might lower it from 5 stars to 4 stars though. It's an enjoyable read but I think it's lacking slightly. I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Maybe it's because I know the next books are even better they're casting a shadow over this one... Is that just me?

jessica wrote: "Oh okay awesome! Yep just checked and saw it! I have now realized how bad I am at remembering tiny details😂"
😂Don't worry! Some of them were really small details. Whilst I was reading the book I made note of small details especially for the quiz otherwise I wouldn't have remembered them myself either. It was a lot of fun making the quiz! I can't wait to do this again for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in August!

@i4gotmybook I didn't realise he was even working on a new book! To be honest I'm very sceptical of how good it'll be. I imagine it'll be a smash hit regardless. We shall see when it comes out! I might keep my eye open for an advanced reader copy.
