June BOTM Read

In June we'll read together and discuss the book. I'll break it up in chapters (need to wait for my copy to know how many chapters there are) and each week we'll read a certain amount of chapters and discuss those. I know many will finish the book quickly, but I really want to have lenghty discussions about the book, so at the end of the month I can send screenshots to the ladies for them to see how we like it :)

We'll start reading from June 2 to June 30!

With everything going on I want to postpone reading Act Like A Lady as book of the month, and instead read a book about racism, black culture or anything that is educational about the black movement topic. I myself have a lot to learn, and still have to choose a book for our book of the month read. I'll let you know soon what we'll be reading. Suggestions are welcome!

“The sun does Shine” Anthony Ray Hinton. I’ve already swapped all my June books for books that matter. This is my first one. It’s about how Anthony was sent to death row for 30 years even though he was innocent with a solid alibi. He speaks about the struggles of growing up as a black man in the south and he honestly is so sweet and kind even after all that was done to him.

Our BOTM reads will start on Monday 8th of June till 31th of July. That hopefully gives everyone enough time to get a copy of our reads.

I'll be updating discussion threads tomorrow when I finally have proper wifi at home.
I personally just started Well-Read Black Girls. But it's up to you what to read first :) I hope we can have good discussions during June and July!
