I LOVED this book. I read it over the summer and was insantly drawn into both narators. Can't wait to hear what people have to say about it.
I read this a few months ago. I enjoyed it, but only gave it 3 stars. I was surprised it won the Goodreads historical fiction category. There were books that were much better than this one nominated, IMO.
Glenda - which books were better? I like historical fiction and am always looking for titles of books people enjoyed.
I liked The Invention of Wings and Dollbaby better.I felt like the goodreads fiction winner was weak as well. I've read more books in the fiction category than the historical fiction, but I have a lot of the nominees on my TBR.
I too liked "The Invention of Wings" and recently re-read it for a book group. I've never heard of "Dollbaby" so will have to look at that one. Ut Oh - Three different "Dollbaby" authors - Mac Neal, Burns, White. Which one?

I enjoyed both The Invention of Wings and All The Light We Cannot See - - both had their strengths and weaknesses but I certainly enjoyed the plot development and attention to detail. Sometimes with a book it's also all about when you read it!
I think the winners this year were kind of lame. I mean Landline won best fiction, I was so underwhelmed by it.

Mac Neal, but looking back at my review, I only gave it three stars as well. The Invention of Wings was a 5 star for me.
Thanks, Glenda. With so many books on my shelves and TBR list, think I'll skip "Dollbaby" since you only gave it 3*. I know...a 3* for you might be different from me, but I normally skip 3* or less. I'm a 'tough' grader and rarely give something 5* or even more than a 3* review anyway. :-( Hmmm...interesting. I just looked back at my reading journal and I gave this 5* on Bookreads. I think I struggled between 4 and 5 and rounded up. I wish we could give half stars on this site. Not truly a 5* but that's what I gave it.
Just finished this on audio and gave it 2 stars. I thought some of the writing was well done, however the story itself did not grab me. I'm glad to see some others were able to really enjoy this book.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to give it 2 stars because everyone else seems to love it much more than I do!
Lyrical, quote-worthy, print-it-out-and-hang-it-up-on-my-wall writing.Here's my full review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Good book, but did not hold a candle to The Nightingale, which is set during the same time and place.
