Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Finished that potter book. Fills the bad reviews box and ticks one off from the Gilmore challenge.

Tinka | 495 comments Maybe Harry Potter in some ways is a generation thing. I mean I love it, I grew up with it. My Mom loved it because she read it basically because I did.

Finished Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and it was originally published in 1990 so check for the Birth Year.

Btw I can only recommend it, at least if you enjoy the whimsical a la Terry Pratchett and crazy dark fairytale a la Neil Gaiman

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Recently listened a BBC radio adaptation of that book ,very funny.

message 254: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Oh I totally want to get my hands on the BBC version. Colin Morgan and Lou Brealey are part of the cast so its a given.

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Read Christmas Stories for the set during Christmas category.

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments It were ok, daughter enjoyed it.

message 257: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Read book by an author with same initials. A Fairy Tale of New York really enjoyed this book, it also inspired the Pogues Christmas song.

So do we need a 2016 reading challenge?

message 258: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments SugarPop already uploaded the 2016 one, but I think I'm gonna pass. I really liked the experience this year, but I have so many books on my tbr that I want to read and can't fit into a category that I don't want to stress myself again

message 259: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments What's sugarpop? I might just focus on getting through some of the Gilmore books.

Tinka | 495 comments The side where this Reading Challenge comes from

Yeah me too. I actually have some books from the list so I'll try to get to them.

message 261: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments And I'll completed the challenge on the last day of the year by finishing the book that scared or rather shocked me. Helter Skelter The True Story of the Manson Murders by Vincent Bugliosi

It also is part of the Rory Gilmore challenge.

I can also only recommend it. It is a fantastic, shocking and fascinating book.

message 262: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments brilliant, well done Tinka, looks like I'll be reading that book too if it is on the Gilmore challenge.

message 263: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I can't believe I managed that task lol

The book is really worth it

message 264: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I still got a few to do, including mum's favourite. Currently reading Women for published year I was born.

message 265: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Do you wanna sort out a challenge Ashleigh?

message 266: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments We could always create our own challenge haha

message 267: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Oh, I read this one too a couple of years ago. I ironically don't remember much about it lol

message 268: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Just finished Women totally amazing book, filthy too :) was written the year I was born so fits that part for the challenge and for the read your age challenge.

message 269: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I might restart that soon cos they have made a movie.

message 270: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments It should be good, being made by Tim Burton, he usually does a good job with weird characters.

message 271: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I'm skeptical though. Tim Burton hasn't made a truly good film in a while. But maybe the lack of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter helps. Though I can't imagine Eva Green as Miss Peregrine (thought the character was older) or Asa Butterfield as Jacob. But we'll probably see.

message 272: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I have read the book that is a play Dark Love

I have two left now. Book my mums loves and a title with an antoynmymy in it. No idea about that one.

message 273: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Cheated a bit with the book your mum loves, I got her to admit she likes Val McDermind but she wouldn't say what one, Just got a "I like them all". grrrrrr so I picked the most interesting one by that author and read Forensics: The Anatomy of Crime

It was a really good book, well worth a read.

message 274: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I think the problem my mum has is she reads a lot of these trashy romance novels and they aren't that great, just easy to read, but none of them are good enough to be memorable, the Vale McDermind books are my dad's and luckily she read them AND could remember them. :)

message 275: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Wow, my Mom was seriously the easiest lol

message 276: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Jeez Tinka, don't let your mum see you calling her easy. :)

message 277: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments woooooooooooooo finished this challenge at last. Happy days.
