1989 completed on the read your age challenge. A Wild Sheep Chase gonna see if it fits in on any other challenge.
Finished a German crime novel
it takes at least partly place in my hometown. Glad I found it, my city is not exactly novel material
classic classic.Spoke to my mum about her favourite book and couldn't get a sensible answer from her, so not sure what to do about that one.
I have no idea what classic to read. Like seriously romance is not exactly my favorite Genre and the only ones I can think about are Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre which I both already readThen pick a book your Mom at least liked.
I think my biggest problems are still 'book that makes you cry' and 'book that scares you'
have you read madame bovary? supposed to be good.I couldn't even get from my mum a title of a book she read, My dad says she has read some books by D. I. Banks, so might look at them. parents!
I've read two that almost made me cry so I counted on one of them. something scary though, super tough.
Just read Animal Farm covers the banned book in my challenge and fills a spot for the Disney challenge, book based on a fame. woooo
Does Madame Bovary count as romance? Haven't read it yet.Yeah parents, I was lucky to immediately find something my Mom loves, she reads a lot but we barley share the same taste.
Almost crying or on the edge of tears counts? Because then I might read something that could count.
Movies never scare me and there you've got visuals. How should a book do that?
I think madame bovary counts, woman marries, he is dull, she finds a lover. recently been a movie made so ya can watch that first and deicde.I have no tear ducts, part robot, and I would have cried if I wasnt so manly.
Maybe get some "Scary" books and read them in the dark at an asylum?
Well that sounds about right. That doesn't answer my question if sorta crying counts, but glad to know you're part robot.
Ah, won't work. I'm the person who think Nightmare on Elm Street is a family comedy and falls asleep during Poltergeist and Paranormal Activity
Loopholes are always good, because otherwise I'd be pretty lost on those categories. Then I'll change Half Wild from 'published in 2015' to 'made you cry' because at least my eyes were wet while reading lol
And I'm adding The Sword of Summer for 'published in 2015'
The writing was what I loved most about it. I thought it was beautiful. The one thing that bothered me s little was the magical MacGuffin hunt for super special diamond
I finally finished
which is far more than 500 pages. Also finished
and
for the memoir and the true story. Both are also part of the Rory Gilmore challenge
Oh, I love Peter Pan. How did you like it?I've been meaning to ask, since I never fail to look for loopholes, but can 'from childhood' actually be also a book of a movie adaptation you loved as a a child but never got around to read?
Did not enjoy Peter pan, the movie adaptation is good but the book itself is tough to read, especially for kids.As long as the movie was out when you was a kid, the loophole should work.
I would never read to Peter Pan to a child. I know its intended for kids, but I think its way too dark and complex. But then again, I took a literature class once where we discussed analyzed it so part of my love comes from that. I also love alternate adaptations.Oh that is great because I recently found a book I never read but I was obsessed with the movie as a kid. I didn't even know the movie was an adaptation to be honest
Here you go Peter and Anneli's Journey to the MoonIts a German classic. There was this animated movie in the 90's, called Peter in Magicland in English, I used to watch whenever it came on TV. Its a beautiful and very creative story for kids
Its a very creative story. The movie also has wonderful images for a non-Disney German production in the 90'sWow, I sound like I'm trying to sell a car or something
Read my Pulitzer prize winner book All the Light We Cannot See think this is the worse book I've read for this challenge.
It was a nice idea but not well written, reminded me a lot of da Vinci code. As for the ending, that was good, like it was a different author. Shame really.
Finished
for 'bought because of the cover' and it will from now on always be my primary example that I should read the summary first
Too bad when a good cover turns out to be a bad book. -.-Anyways finished A Little Something Different which was recommended by a friend. It was super adorable. Probanly the cutest book I've read all year.
So, how is anyone doing by the way? Think you all gonna master the challenge?
Struggling with the challenge, got two more to finish a challenge in another group, then gonna focus on this challenge.
I have most of the books I still need at home. I have problem finding the author with the same initials and the scary book is really bothering me
Scary book is gonna be my tough one too. Think I am sorted with mum's book, some detective book, DI Banks or sumthing
Don't know the books but the TV show. My Mom likes it as well, I'm not a huge fan, but maybe the books are better.
So, if I found an author with my initials but those are only correct because of a pen name, does it still count because he published under that name?
Finished Oryx and Crake which covers the Bottom of my TBR list. But hey, its also part of the Rory Gilmore challenge
roight the day has come. I will be starting the first Harry Potter book next week, this is for the Gilmore challenge, also it is for the 2015 challenge for the book that has had bad reviews, I think I've given it enough to count. :)
Done with the classic romance. To be honest as much as I like classics, Madame Bovary wasn't the one for me
And done with the Christmas book
which I mostly enjoyed, apart from some stories. How is Harry Potter going?
