I know many people love it, but honestly it wasn't mine. The writing style was gimmicky and pretenious and the charactera super flat. The plot was almost non-existent and everything revolved about an underdeveloped romance.
Finished Carrie, loved it. Very good novel, and it crosses one off the 2015 and Gilmore challenges. woohoo
Just finished The Mermaids Singing by Val McDermid so that's an author with my initials. It was actually better than expected and I might read more of her books
I've just found this group and just found this challenge and I think it is brilliant. I know we are in the 4th month of the year but I'm sure I can already tick off a few boxes plus I noticed the top challenge was to read a book with more than 500 pages and the book I'm currently reading has 616 pages so that's a start haha.
Hi Shona, I think it would be ok to add any books you've read since the challenge started, hopefully that should help you.
Finished
and will put it under 'translated book'. Originally written in Swedish, I read it in German.
I have read lord of the flies as my authors first book, also ticks one off on the Gilmore challenge.
I can add three books to my list, the one word title
, the book I never finished (but did now)
and the book I bought but never read
I have cheated a bit and added a book to the made me cry category. No book is ever going make my black heart cry but this book did make me really sad, quite shocking scene in it.Route Number 11: Argentina, Angels & Alcohol
I think the "makes you cry" book is one of the hardest of the challenge because you can't just pick one, it has to be spontaneous.I'm currently working on the trilogy, play and should've read in school
That one gives me the most trouble too. I hoped the Shining would scare me, but it's not that bad. I think I'm going to add it anyway because it does scare me a little when I have to go the bathroom in the middle of the night after reading it :D

And I finished the play
had to read it for a class, very bizarre.Btw anyone has any ideas for the antonyme in the title? I can't think of any book.
Well ya gotta read that for the Gilmore challenge so give it a go. If you do I would recommend taking notes. Each character in the book is known by about 4 different names, I made a note of who was who and it helps you get past the first 200 pages, I think that's where most people give up.
Ahhh right it is on there as well. That book sounds super exhausting haha does it at least live up to the hype?
I thought it was amazing. The only issue was Tolstoy put on an essay at the end that went on and on and on. The characters in it are great there are some you'll love and some you'll hate big time.
Well I sure hope it will be great. Reading a book that big and then end up not liking it is really bad
Hey Tinka how about beauty and the beast? I reckon that would count and it probably fills a slot on the Disney challenge.
I think it counts, an antonym is two opposite words. Beauty in the beast is about a beautiful creature and a beastly creature. Also I think Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde would count. And lady and the tramp.
Just finished Oliver Twist for my reading challenge, book I should have read at school but didn't. Also it ticks one off for the Disney challenge and another from the mighty Gilmore challenge. wooooooo
My English lessons were poor, we pretty much just read Macbeth and that was it. So I picked a book we should have been taught and Oliver Twist would have been great.
