Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Finished my translated book. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer brilliant book.

message 102: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I added Gone Girl to my list, but not as the movie adaptation, but for the mystery/thirller part

message 103: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Cool, I'll probably do the same.

message 104: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Finished Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi which is written by someone inder 30, can cross that off my list now

message 105: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I don't think Tinka liked it that much, 2 star rating.

message 106: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I know many people love it, but honestly it wasn't mine. The writing style was gimmicky and pretenious and the charactera super flat. The plot was almost non-existent and everything revolved about an underdeveloped romance.

message 107: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Just finished Half Wild (The Half Bad Trilogy, #2) by Sally Green which was published this year

message 108: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Finished picture of Dorian gray today, I wonder if I can fit that in somewhere

message 109: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Finished Carrie, loved it. Very good novel, and it crosses one off the 2015 and Gilmore challenges. woohoo

message 110: by Ness (new)

Ness Just finished The Mermaids Singing by Val McDermid so that's an author with my initials. It was actually better than expected and I might read more of her books

message 111: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments well done Ness

message 112: by Ness (new)

Ness And since I had to read Voice and Communication Therapy for the Transgender by Richard Kenneth Adler for undergradute thesis, I'm going to count it as the nonfiction book

message 113: by Shona (new)

Shona (shonalee) | 1 comments I've just found this group and just found this challenge and I think it is brilliant. I know we are in the 4th month of the year but I'm sure I can already tick off a few boxes plus I noticed the top challenge was to read a book with more than 500 pages and the book I'm currently reading has 616 pages so that's a start haha.

message 114: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Hi Shona, I think it would be ok to add any books you've read since the challenge started, hopefully that should help you.

message 115: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Finished The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson and will put it under 'translated book'. Originally written in Swedish, I read it in German.

message 116: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Finished book that contains magic. Wyrd Sisters

message 117: by Ness (new)

Ness I finished Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews which has been made into a movie, but it's not out yet. Can I still count it for that?

message 118: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I have read lord of the flies as my authors first book, also ticks one off on the Gilmore challenge.

message 119: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Book 27 done. Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege, 1942-1943 as my true story.

message 120: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Halfway now. I have read my memoir Crow Country a very good book.

message 121: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I can add three books to my list, the one word title Dust (Richard Jury, #21) by Martha Grimes , the book I never finished (but did now) Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1) by Eoin Colfer and the book I bought but never read The Mists of Avalon (Avalon, #1) by Marion Zimmer Bradley

message 122: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I have cheated a bit and added a book to the made me cry category. No book is ever going make my black heart cry but this book did make me really sad, quite shocking scene in it.

Route Number 11: Argentina, Angels & Alcohol

message 123: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I think the "makes you cry" book is one of the hardest of the challenge because you can't just pick one, it has to be spontaneous.

I'm currently working on the trilogy, play and should've read in school

message 124: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments My only real chance is if I get a really bad paper cut on my eye.

message 125: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments One thing is harder though, a book that scares you. Movies, books they usually don't scare me

message 126: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments yeah, it's like we have no feelings.

message 127: by Ness (new)

Ness That one gives me the most trouble too. I hoped the Shining would scare me, but it's not that bad. I think I'm going to add it anyway because it does scare me a little when I have to go the bathroom in the middle of the night after reading it :D

message 128: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Ness wrote: "That one gives me the most trouble too. I hoped the Shining would scare me, but it's not that bad. I think I'm going to add it anyway because it does scare me a little when I have to go the bathroo..."

or when somebody starts attacking your door with an axe.

message 129: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Maybe we should bend the rules a bit...something like 'so awful its scary' lol

message 130: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments And I finished the play Angels in America A Gay Fantasia on National Themes by Tony Kushner had to read it for a class, very bizarre.

Btw anyone has any ideas for the antonyme in the title? I can't think of any book.

message 131: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I was going to try and find the prince and the pauper, the only one I could think off.

message 132: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I thought of War and Peace but that's so incredible big

message 133: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Well ya gotta read that for the Gilmore challenge so give it a go. If you do I would recommend taking notes. Each character in the book is known by about 4 different names, I made a note of who was who and it helps you get past the first 200 pages, I think that's where most people give up.

message 134: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Ahhh right it is on there as well. That book sounds super exhausting haha does it at least live up to the hype?

message 135: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I thought it was amazing. The only issue was Tolstoy put on an essay at the end that went on and on and on. The characters in it are great there are some you'll love and some you'll hate big time.

message 136: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Well I sure hope it will be great. Reading a book that big and then end up not liking it is really bad

message 137: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Well you HAVE to read it to the last page if I have to read TWO!!!!! Harry potter books.... sigh!

message 138: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Such a Drama Queen XD
I will never understand that hatred when there's much worse out there

message 139: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments DRAMA QUEEN!!!! I'LL SHOW YOU DRAMA QUEEN!!!!

*runs away crying*

message 140: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I'd say I feel sorry for your suffering, but it would be a lie

message 141: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I demand you read war and peace in Russian

message 142: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Than I'll be super fast because I only have to turn pages

message 143: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments No you have to read it properly and do voices for everybody.

message 144: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Hey Tinka how about beauty and the beast? I reckon that would count and it probably fills a slot on the Disney challenge.

message 145: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Is it a true antonym? Because as far as I know its not.

message 146: by Jason (last edited Jun 28, 2015 10:20PM) (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments I think it counts, an antonym is two opposite words. Beauty in the beast is about a beautiful creature and a beastly creature. Also I think Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde would count. And lady and the tramp.

message 147: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments Would probably be easier than War and Peace, on the other hand, Tolstoi I have at home XD

message 148: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments Just finished Oliver Twist for my reading challenge, book I should have read at school but didn't. Also it ticks one off for the Disney challenge and another from the mighty Gilmore challenge. wooooooo

message 149: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1426 comments My English lessons were poor, we pretty much just read Macbeth and that was it. So I picked a book we should have been taught and Oliver Twist would have been great.

message 150: by Tinka (new)

Tinka | 495 comments I read Animal Farm for that one. I know I only semi read it in school
