Edwin of the Iron Shoes and Nothing Ventured both deal with art thefts that detectives unravel and recover the stolen goods. In both cases the art thefts are connected to Italy.

or

Nothing Ventured and Live and Let Die both have plot points that deal with the recovery of ancient coins which are being melted down for profit....until detectives or secret agents unravel the plots.

OR

This Town Sleeps and The Toughest Indian in the World which both feature characters who are gay Native Americans.

OR

Times Square and The Girl He Used to Know which both have women returning to big cities (NYC and Chicago respectively) to meet up with old boyfriends.

As far as I can tell, these all work. I would say the weakest connection might be the two Native American books but I also haven't read either of those books, so it's tough to say definitively.
