First I thought I need to pick out larger books, but recently I also read some, although easy reads, interesting plots in smaller form. So it honestly doesn't matter to me anymore. It stays a gamble if its a 'fun' book~

If a tv show was only one episode long - then I don't think I'd bother to watch it. The fact is a tv show goes on and on.I don't think you can compare reading to a tv show or a movie or a play - timewise - because if you took a movie and wrote it down, including all the descriptions and emotions and yadda yadda, it's going to be longer than a short story and it's going to take longer than two hours to read.
I don't think there's anything wrong with short stories, and I doubt they're unsatisfying to lots of people. I just prefer something longer. When I read I want to get lost in a world, and you just can't do that with a story 2000 words long.
I think the length of a novel is irrelevant to how good a story is. Some authors can pack a lot into a short novel, while others may take a little more time to get the point across. Not a bad thing! Also depends on if you like to take your time worth a novel or be done with it in only a day or two.
I don't mind how long the book is as long as it's interesting enough for me to start it and finish it. Though if the book is long enough (let's say 700+ pages) I tend to freeze with it and read something shorter to get back in the mood for reading the long book (that's why I have four or more books in my currently reading section).I also don't mind short stories as they can be good in their own way and I read them too, from time to time. Though I admit that single short story is not usually enough and that's why I read short story collections mostly.
I am on the opposite end of the spectrum right now. I am sick and tired of unending series of giant tomes. I sort of feel like it is more artful and impressive to write a satisfying stand alone novel in 250 pages. Am I left wanting more? you betcha, but longing is not a bad place to be.
I will read almost anything of almost any length. Sometimes, I'm in the mood for something longer, something I can read and think about for days, even weeks. Other times, I'm in the mood for something quick and easy, something I can get through quickly.I enjoy video games too, and sometimes you want Tetris, and sometimes you want an involved, long RPG.
