January 2015 Challenge

I REALLY enjoyed Ready Player One! I highly suggest the audiobook, Will Wheaton narrates it and he's pretty awesome at his job!

Also, since In Real Life is a book club pick of the month, it won't count towards the challenge, but Also, here's a list of books I've found that are video game related!
-Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation
-Super Mario: How Nintendo Conquered America
-Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life
-Level Up
-The Guild
You can also read any of the novels that are based off of video games- Bioshock, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Halo, etc. I hope this helps! And if you want to take this past books for a fun add on, I've heard the documentary Indie Game(on Netflix) is really good. It basically addresses how video games are made, the indie game network, etc.

I'm considering reading that, too! I'll probably read Ready Player One, but I think I'll definitely be checking out the graphic novels, too. I still need to finish The Guild!

I have not entered the world of The Guild and think that it needs to happen. Still haven't read Ready Player One either though... #choices

Then if you want to read others, do that, but YOU HAVE TO READ

Yay!!
Oh, yeah. Ready Player One is brilliant. A book I stumbled upon myself and seriously loved it.

I realized I'm actually reading Revan right now. I didn't realize that was a video game-based book.
Anyway, which sounds better to you? Reamde or The Eye of Minds? If you've read them, please let me know if they're worth buying! :D

I just started reading The Eye of Minds and I'm hooked so far!!

HA HA!! I was thinking of re-reading Ready Play One as well!!

It's Legend..."
YAY Congrats!! Message me and I'll get you an achievement as I get one!

It's Legend..."
Congrats, Desiree! You're on top of things! :D

That's totally why I love this group so much. I pick up books I know I'd never even look at otherwise, and I end up loving them. Teaches me not to judge a book by its cover. ;D

I'd definitely recommend these books to anyone who has played the games.

I'm usually lagging behind but I whizzed through it this time. Maybe because I was reading it anyway and I have to read all of the series now so I want to start playing Inquisition soon. One book left then I'm allowed to buy the game! Weeee!

As I also mentioned jPod was a (Canadian) TV series as well. And it was pretty good, especially by Canadian TV standards.

Edited to add: Here's a link to my review of the book - SPOILER FREE of course!!

Each month we will have a new challenge for you based on the round theme for that month. So for example January's round theme is Retro Video Games. And your challenge is to read a book that has a video game theme.
Rules are:
-It has to be a new book for you, one you haven't read before
-It must be different than our other book picks, so it can't be the same main, comic book, manga or series we are reading that month
-You have to read it within that month to get the achievement. So no reading a video game themed book in February and expecting the January achievement.
-Check in with us once you've read your book, you can do that here, on twitter, the IGGPPC forums or our new Instagram page (which should be up soon!!) I love seeing covers so take a picture and share with us!
This is something that we just threw together so if you have any suggestions to make this challenge better please feel free to let me know! And of course its not something you have to do, but hopefully a fun way to challenge yourself to read harder!
Here is a list of some books to help you out!!
