2015 - I've Killed a Level, Badge me!
Add me to the list of people who are really grateful for this challenge. Right now I'm nearly halfway through the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, which I've been wanting to read for so long. So, Level One is coming up on me slowly, but I doubt I would have gotten around to reading these books without this challenge. And, yes, part of my pacing is trying to stagger my library books.
Janice, I have finished level 2 (P. D. James). Sorry, I am on my iPad and don't know how to link on it yet. Cherie and Janice, glad our badges have evil eyes. Feeling wicked is always delightful!
: )
The badges get tamer as we go along. Maybe it reflects that we get used to the killing?!>?!Connie, your badge is posted.
I hope you're on Team D for the Topplers, Rebecca. Nope, just checked. Darn! You've received the last badge, but keep on killing. You never know what surprises may be in store at the end of the year - a year from now.
Grinding of teeth is not allowed, Anne. We don't want you to end up with headaches, or jaw problems.
I've finished Level One and killed two series for exactly 100 points. May I have a badge, please? The first was The Cousins War by Philippa Gregory. I'd read the first 5 of the 6 books previously, and finished #6, The King's Curse, to finish the series. 60 points for the series plus 5 for the book read.
The second was the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. I'd read the first 2 books previously and finished #3, The Book of Life, to finish the series. 30 points for the series plus 5 for the book read.

I'll definitely keep going. I didn't realize how many books I had that were part of a series before this challenge. Plus, there's dozens more that I can get from the library. I'm going to miss the badges, though. I love them.
Janice, I've finished the requirements for the 1st level. Can I have a badge, please? (Sorry. I'm on a tablet and can't provide a link.)
Cherie wrote: "Congrations Theresa and Lanelle for making the killer club!"Thanks! Now to plan the next level :)
Thanks Sandra :-) this challenge is great for me (In the last year or two I have bought far more books than I have had time to read, many of them series) and it fits with my plan to get my TBR shelves down to an amount that fits on the actual shelves! Lol.
Hi Theweebarrell,This challenge is REALLY fun! This is the thread where the challenge is explained:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
There you will find a lot of Q&A for many doubts you could have.
You'll need to open your own thread in here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
The Janice will add it in the quick access thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
There you can take a look to other people threads to have an idea how things are being done. Some people is planning the challenge for the whole year, other (like me) are just planning on the way.
Hope this is useful!

Thanks for fielding that question so thoroughly, Sandra.
Love my badge! Am 1/2 a book away from finishing level 2. Yay! This is definitely my year for catching up with my ongoing series... and (unfortunately?) for adding new ones!
Hi sandra so if I was to start at level one what do I have to do and what does it consist of. Is it also part of the serial killer challenge for 2015 . sorry for being thick
@TheweebarrellYes, this is all about the serial killer challenge for 2015. The goal is to "kill" series. Only 1 level is enough to do the challenge, but you can do as many levels as you want.
In each level you will need:
1. Finish at least 1 series,
2. Sum at least 100 points. Those points come to the different value the series have (according to the amount of books in the series) plus any book you read in the level (as soon it is part of a series).
This is a rough draft of the idea of the challenge. Janice explains it much better and in much detail in the first post of this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Message 1 tells you what the challenge is, what the goals & rules are, and how to set it up. If you have questions about the challenge, please post them in that thread as this thread is to report when you've completed a level.
I killed my first series, and with it my first level!!I finished the 10 book series, "Harry Hole" by Jo Nesbø.
Who's going to give me my badge? Oh, I guess I will.

I've only read the first one in this series. 10 books! Geeesh, I've sure got a lot of reading to do on that one.
I'm assuming you liked it?
You deserve a special badge!
You've been badged, Debra.I read book 7 and 8 of the series before I decided to go back to the beginning. I think if I had read book 1 first, I may not have continued with the series. I really did enjoy the series. The books are all page turners.

I bought the 2nd book because I couldn't get it from the library. Just always seem to be behind reading my library books and never get to those I own!

Somehow I saw 100 book series instead of 10, and I was like Wow, that's quite the series. But I looked at it a second time and it made more sense.

Shanna_redwind wrote: "Somehow I saw 100 book series instead of 10, and I was like Wow, that's quite the series. But I looked at it a second time and it made more sense."100 points for a 10 book series, perhaps?
You've been badged.
There are some vultures on your wall, Amanda. I think they're looking for the pickings of your kills.

Agreed!
And I feel actually less pressure to finish as many books as I can (meaning that I will have more time for non-series books that I've been wanting to read as well without feeling guilty about not reading series), because I know I can never reach a level as high as many others here, so I'm happy just taking it slow. No worries Janice, you came up with a great challenge :)
