I need at least 8 hours sleep, if not 9 or more. This poses a problem when I find it hard to sleep before midnight and wish to hold down a normal job.

I understand how you feel, Rusalka :)When the day comes that I go back to work I will need to get back in the habit of going to sleep before 11pm/midnight. I've stayed up too late this last week.

But I've just got rid of my shredder. Doh! "I had decided when I moved in here that I would scan personal bills, statements etc as soon as I got them, store them on my computer, and then shred them. Good intentions and all....

It was after 8:00 when I finally dragged myself out of bed. I think it's stress. I've worked every day this month since Jan 5, and won't get a day off now until Feb. When I do get a day off, I think I'll sleep.
Well... I would say winter is coming, but it is already there...I guess I will have to make sure to walk by the parliament next week... I wanna see that throne...

Sandra, gald your daughter is ok.Sarah. Thank you for posting pics. I really was wondering what these boats looked like.
Now is past midnight and we have still over 30 Celsius. Gobal warming IS warm...@Stephanie
Yesterday was THE night to not get enough sleep apparently. I wasn't able to fall sleep til 5 am (today)
Eek, Mariab! Maybe we are all too excited about all the toppler stuff :) I'm still awake (10:52pm) here and I tried telling myself to go to bed at 10pm..I apparently didn't listen ;-(Hope you get some sleep tonight!!
I got my favorite show ridiculousness on. Got some ice t with jack daniels and pour my jalepeño, double ham and cheese omelet in the pan and can't find the garlic sea salt. No worries found it before it needed ti be flipped. Trust me garlic sea salt is essential to an omelet

We will all want pictures especially since many of us won't make it to Quebec City to see the throne for ourselves.
The link doesn't work for me Esther. The Netherlands also woke up to snow this morning, lots of accidents happened already and there are huge train problems. I'm so glad I'm not there right now!
:-( got an email about a library book sale in my hometown...I miss those sales! The library that I went to in Spokane had such a great set up! It was a one day sale, usually on a Saturday. Hard cover books would be .50 and paperbacks .25. There were soooooo many books!! I haven't been to a library book sale here in Virginia yet. They have one here in March but it is a week long so may not be the same as the one back home:(
Happy Australia Day/Invasion Day/Hottest 100 Day peoples!Make sure you do something 'Straylian today. Eat some lamb. Drink some yummy beer. Knight a Prince and annoy people of all political persuasions in your country. Tune in to the Hottest 100 on the internet. Wear some thongs. Look at pictures of kangaroos. In fact, I'll help with that one.

Or my favourite find recently (warning - bad words)

Happy 'Straya Day Rusalka. I'll take the looking at cute Aussie animals to celebrate! I know someone in Oz who posted a picture on Facebook of her BBQ'd Zucchinis - they were burnt to a crisp!
Happy Australia Day to all our aussies and Happy Republic Day to all our Indian friends. :)Love the roo pics!!

The evening news here in the UK was just talking about the snow storm that is about to hit the East coast of the US. Sounds like it is going to be a bad one! Stay safe and warm everyone!

ROFL!!!!
Jersey and the NYC mostly. Up here we just supposed to get couple inches but 2-3 feet would just be normal for us wnyway. I only get complaining when it doesn't let up here and there for driveway clearing.
They are saying 12-15 inches here in the Phila suburbs (I'm closer to Trenton, NJ) but we'll see. I thought it was going to be less but the most recent thing I found online is saying 12-15.
Heehee! Has anyone seen the m&m commercial where the yellow peanut m&m talks into the fan?? I can't help but laugh at that commercial everytime :)
I heard the news about the encroaching blizzard. The weather has gone crazy! We have rain here. Temps are usually around -25C, but we've had temps above freezing over a week now.
Our news is reporting NY and NJ, but saying the worst will hit New England, particularly Connecticut and Massachusetts. Everyone up there be safe, and just take this as an order to sit inside and read!
Something's eaten summer here. It's 17C at the moment. So I agree, it's all gone topsy turvey!*Please note I am not at all in any way shape or form complaining. It is just very odd. Please weather do not turn into a 40C scorcher tomorrow to spite me.
I m little late *says the white rabbit*... happy day to australians and indians! For the eastern coasters, be safe
Janice wrote: "I heard the news about the encroaching blizzard. The weather has gone crazy! We have rain here. Temps are usually around -25C, but we've had temps above freezing over a week now."Wow! -25C is really frigid. Is that before wind chill?
We just got a boring run off chilly weather going on and thats about it. The ten day forecast is highs of -12°C to lows of -25°C. I think tomorrow wind chill in day is supposed to be about -20°C. I hate wind chill. But -12°C is perfect if no added wind chill involved I like the cold it could stay there all winter and id love it
I just read that the weather front affecting the US bringing blizzards is going to hit the UK next week with possibly -15C. We shall see if it happens or not.
Sarah wrote: "I just read that the weather front affecting the US bringing blizzards is going to hit the UK next week with possibly -15C. We shall see if it happens or not."I heard that too Sarah. They seem to be pretty certain that it will happen at the moment but how many times have they said things like that before and it hasn't happened in the end?
I've lost count Lisa! We had weather warnings in place a couple weeks back for snow and nothing happened. This seems a bit more extreme though. I reckon it will happen but it won't be as cold or as much snow as they say there will.
We had warnings too and nothing happened either. Well, apart from a dusting one day which lasted all of an hour. I think it will happen this time too but as you say, I bet we won't get as much snow as they are anticipating.
That storm should miss QC altogether. Not complaining at it seems to be a big one even for us. But we do have the wind.We do have warmer temp. A toasty -15c. Nice after the -30C of the last days.
Stephanie wrote: "Travis and Tasha, hope the snow ends up missing you guys!!"It ended up not being too bad here. Definitely some snow but not bad.
