Watcha Doing? Version 2015
Oooh they're all so exotic Berit! Big advantage of being in Europe I guess. There are over 40 countries within max 4 hours flying and several of them also easily accessible by car, bus or train, so if you're into travelling it's quite easy to see lots of different places.
We collect flags of countries we've been to and paste them on a canvas in our living room. It looks like this right now (only Madeira is missing at the moment, which I know isn't officially a country but we made our own rules and add flags for autonomous regions as well)
That is an awesome idea Peggy! Not only is it a great souvenir that has meaning to you both, it makes beautiful artwork.

I don't mind Lifehouse, but like Peggy, they've only had one "hit" over here about 14 years ago. Nickleback... ah... they are the joke band over here unfortunately.Albums get released over here as well, but like everything now days, if not, we just buy it off the internet. And if it's not available in Australia, there are ways around that.
If you like Mumford and Sons, Kimey, make sure you check out Of Monsters and Men. Band from Iceland who have the kind of folky aspect of Mumford, but without the bits that make me annoyed at Mumford and Sons. Some bands just rub me the wrong way. Kings of Leon is another one that just annoys the crap out of me.
But speaking of bands, you all have me very worried. I have tickets to see blur in July. Their first tour in Aus since 1997 or something. But they were supposed to be out here a few years ago and cancelled. Worried now with all your cancelling bands, and they have form!
Keeping fingers crossed for you, Rusalka, that your concert goes off without a hitch! We are going to the Eagles concert here next month. I could care less about going but my hubby really wants to see them so there we will be :)
Game 2 of the CWS is on. Fingers and toes are cross that UVA wins tonight! If they do, then game 3 is tomorrow night! If not...I will be sad because that will mean they lost the championship..again..to Vanderbilt :(
Ah 1000 ft krutch and their new linkin park sound. Like theor older stuff better. My current repeat indefinitely song is "better place" by saint asonia featuring lead vocal by Adam Gontier formerly of 3 days grace and guitarist from Staind.

When my daughter was in grad school the first thing she did when she got home from a tough day was put on comfy clothes and this turned into what she called her "no pants dance". Apparently pants are thought of by many as optional and overrated.

The Eagles, the originals??!!
I bought my husband tickets to see Of Monsters and Men for father's day. The kids said he should take me and his response was "I can't! My girlfriend will be there..." :) He has a crush on the lady in the group. I've never looked her up, but it's a running joke in our house.I do love them. And Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Alabama Shakes and others with that fun, folksy kind of sound.
Wahoo!!!!! UVA wins game 2!!!!! On to the final game tomorrow night!! It is almost midnight here..time for bed! I can't believe I was able to stay awake for the whole game, lol!!
That's cool Peggy! Loads of countries. Me and my partner have travelled together a bit but we keep going back to the same country although that's because we have friends there. I hope you enjoy Cuba. Love the flag canvas! Nickelback were popular here a while back, I liked one of the songs, then like Australia, they became a bit of a joke band. My cousin still likes them though and has seen them a lot. Never heard of the other band you mentioned though.
I agree about bands rubbing you the wrong way. Two which did that for a while for me were Manic Street Preachers (because everyone loved them and wouldn't shut up about the guy disappearing) and The Whitestripes (because their songs were played everywhere and the whole brother/sister/wife thing everyone kept going on about). I like both of them now.
As for Blur Rusalka, I am sure you'll be fine. They've been pretty active this year, not just with gigs but they've done radio shows etc. As long as Alban doesn't fall off the stage and break his leg ;-) I think Blur are an amazing live band so you'll be in for a treat. I saw them at Reading Festival well over 10 years ago now and they were the best set of the festival (I even liked them better than System of a Down who are pretty much my favourite band).
@Stephanie: YaaaY .. Hope they win today as well ..I don't really follow up with bands and their songs .. Used to few years ago,and all what I listened to were songs from the 90s and the early 2000s, and were in 2010, but then I felt like "bands have the same idea with every song .. There is nothing new"
I mean look at the songs lyrics .. Most of them are either about "I'm happy you're my GF and I love you" or "I hate you cuz you cheated on me" !!
Sara you just reminded me of a song that goes like Donald where's your trousers ?
And they pronounce trousers as "trrrooosers"
LooL funny song :P
I know the song CFDeeDee. there is an area in UK where they pronounce trousers that way all the time but I'm trying to wrack my brains which accent (and therefore region) that is. I occasionally pronounce it that way if I'm in a funny mood.
RE. song lyrics. stuff in the charts has no substance or soul to it quite often and yes tends to be about love which is why I don't listen to it much. lyrics are important to me so I'm happy to move away from mainstream music. that said, a lot of the alternative stuff has also become mainstream now.
Exactly -high five- Thats why I switched myself from listening to repeated meaning songs into watching movies and TV shows .. And since I loved to read ever since I was a little kid I started reading books -Used to read children's magazines when I was little-
I can't really remember how I started buying books ! But I always remember my English teacher encouraging me to read more ..
Oh. Of course. Always forget you guys and your pants and undies thing. Pants = trousers. But in this case, as I had gotten out of the shower and realised I probably should check the aurora before I forgot about it again, I threw on a very long jumper and was sans both. Nobody got time for that when there are astronomical phenomena a foot!
Peggy wrote: "We collect flags of countries we've been to and paste them on a canvas in our living room. It looks like this right now (only Madeira is missing at the moment, which I know isn't officially a count..."I missed a page. Awesome idea.
Between Turkey and Scotland, is that Bulgaria? I haven't seen it with the crest on top which is why I'm wondering. I could be completely wrong.
Me too, CFDeeDee :) tonight will be another late night for me, I guess :) good thing this is the last game of the series! I don't think I could stay up till midnight all week!
I wish I could sleep by midnight !! I stay awake all night and sleep when its dawn !! Not cuz of anything I just don't wanna miss my Sohor since I'm fasting during day time XP
I'm not surprised you stay awake at night at the moment CFDeeDee - I would too if I were fasting throughout the day. I remember a friend of mine at college was always pretty tired (and hungry) during Ramadan.
I did not see them. With or without pants :(Apparently another flare happened today which means we may get another chance tomorrow night.
So flare is a colloquial term. What is happening is that the sun has had a coronal mass ejection, which is a "flare" or a burst of magnetic energy or gas from the sun's surface or corona. You can read about why here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coronal...Then this burst of energy throws protons and electrons through space to earth (and everywhere else of course), which effects and excites the particles in our atmosphere (usually at the poles) and translates into light or photons which we see as the pretty northern lights or the aurora australis in the south.
I love Of Monsters & Men, Rusalka. They get played a lot on my Mumford & Sons Pandora station too. Nickelback gets a lot of hate in the US too. It has almost become a fad to make fun of them. I still enjoy their music though. @Travis, Better Place is a great song. I like 1000 Foot Krutch's new stuff, but I do prefer their older songs. I didn't realize 3 Days Grace frontman was the same guy in Saint Asonia. That explains why I like that song so much! I don't think I've heard any of their other stuff so I'll have to look them up. I saw 3DG live a few years ago when they were still promoting the One-x Album. It was a great show. One of my favorite songs right now is Human Race off of their newest album.
The northern lights are the ones to go see, and you could make a snowman at the same time! But this is what they look like:
I believe our southern ones are just as impressive but you have to get to Antarctica to see them the majority of the time. Maybe the bottom tip of NZ or Aus.
Wow! I've never seen them (in person) but am always amazed by photos.Funny about the "jumper" - "sweater", "knicker" - "panty", "trouser" - "pant" thing. There are so many colloquial words and the more you read the less confused you are. I wonder how people who do not read ever communicate effectively with people from places other than their own. O_o

It's a giant slap in the face of 3DG and actually probably also a slap into the face of Aaron Lewis
@Travis - Oh wow, just re-listened to the song and I see what you mean! You made me curious about the band so I googled them. Apparently they made their big debut at Rock on the Range last month as the opening act. The article said that in addition to performing some of their original songs, they covered 3DG's "I Hate Everything About You" and Staind's "Mudshovel." Of all of the songs they could have covered, those two speak volumes!
Nickleback is a bit of a joke band here too.Rusalka, it is Bulgaria, but we never wondered about the thingy. I just asked Rob and he googled it and apparently this was the flag until 1990, afterwards it was just the three stripes. We order the patches from one website so that all are the same size and they sent us that one. He can't stand it now he knows it's wrong, so he's going to order a new one :P
Will catch up on all other posts tomorrow, I had a way too long day.

I hope you get up to Canada! It has been several years (before you needed a passport and could just use U.S ID) since I was there. My favorite was Cranbrook. I remember it being so pretty :)
