Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Oh Peggy, that is such a shame! :( Really sorry to hear that.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Too bad, Peggy. Let's think there's something better waiting for you two. :)

message 2703: by Peggy (last edited Jun 02, 2015 04:36AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Yes, probably some other nice houses will come up (which we will always compare to this one ;-)). But in our minds we basically lived here already (never a good thing to get your hopes up too high, I know, but what can you do?) and especially in terms of location and the way it looked (lovely garden, large kitchen) it was just perfect. It's actually the area where we most want to live, but there are not that many houses for sale.

Ah well, I'll be sad today and start searching again tomorrow.

message 2704: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I hate that Peggy. Salesman always tell me they have all these other people ibterested and I always think they're pressuring me bu the last 5 pieces of equipment they told me that and I called their bluff they sold it same day they told me I needed to hurry. It's so hard to try to rush and make a rational decision

message 2705: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I agree with going with your instincts, Janice! Plus bedrooms are for sleeping and living rooms are for living, right? :-)

Oh, Peggy!! I'm so so sorry to hear the house sold :( but that just means there is a better house out there for you :-)

Totally agree. I think we got ripped off buying this house as we were bullied into making an offer that day we saw it. In hindsight, it was a good call as if we had missed this op we wouldn't have bought for a little while and the market exploded in price (most our friends have been priced out of the market until now, which is 8 years later), but I felt so annoyed and frustrated with it for a long time.

message 2708: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I agree too! It's really hard to know whether they are actually telling the truth, or are just trying to get more money out of it. And especially with expensive things you want to take some time to think about it, but you also have the feeling that if you want it, you have to act immediately, or you'll miss out.

I guess we'll have to get used to it. I assume that all houses that are put online in the coming weeks/months and have our interest, are also of interest to many others. Unfortunately all the ones that have been online for a longer time (and for which you can take your time deciding and bargaining) have too many things 'wrong' with them.

message 2709: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Oh no, Peggy! Sorry to hear that. hugs

Janice, I agree with everyone, living space is where you will spend most of the time. good luck!

message 2710: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Aahw, thanks for being so sweet all of you!

Are there more interested parties in your apartments Janice?

message 2711: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Does anyone know if The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series was originally written in Spanish or English? I though it was Spanish, but then I read Carlos Ruiz Zafon has been living in the US since the mid-90s, and now I'm not sure.

message 2712: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Janice I have a huge bedroom I also have a decently sized living area, but I wouldn't mind giving up some of my bedroom to have an even bigger living area :-) definitely go with your instincts!
Peggy, keeping my fingers crossed that you will find the perfect house!

As far as I am aware it was written in Spanish first and then got translated into English.

message 2714: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments @Peggy. I am so sorry. I know how that must feel.

@Sarah. I had to chuckle at your "ingrained" pun, intentional or not.

I dreamt about the basement suite and my client all night. Then, about 6:30 this morning a friend phoned and asked why I wasn't buying a house. It's a long convoluted story involving my ex not getting my name off the mortgage for the farm which means my debt ratio is too high to even consider applying for another mortgage. So now I'm second guessing myself. I invited her along to help measure and size things up. Maybe she'll see that it's the right solution for me for this point in my life. She did say something that gnaws at my stomach - moving is such a pain! Do I want to move now and then again in a year or two or three? That's why I was holding off in the first place. And now I'm talking myself in circles again.

Sarah, you asked about using my dresser somewhere else. That's a possibility. I could maybe fit it into what will be my office, and use it for piling paper and archive boxes. I don't want to feel too cramped in my main working space though. There is a crawl space under the entire living room. I certainly won't be crawling into it, but will slide tubs around the periphery of it where they are easily accessed.

Oh, did I tell you that my landlord is a client? He's going to build a box to sit on the deck by my door so clients can leave/pick up paperwork if I'm not home? I suspect he'll be using it since I told him he'll be assigned the official courier role for his company.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Hello everyone! I've checked in on a couple of the other threads, but I have just found time to read through this one (over 200 posts). My Disney World/Universal Studios trip was fantastic! Thanks for all of the well wishes before I left. Getting around the Atlanta airport was the only truly stressful part so I was able to happily put all my worry behind me when we left!

The crowds weren't ridiculously bad so we were able to ride all of the rides we wanted to. Well, except for a couple that were down for repairs.

I didn't get to explore the two Universal Studios Harry Potter "worlds" quite as much as I wanted, but I loved every minute I did have. The detail in these parks is astounding. I have lots of pics, way too many to post here, but I'll try to share a few of my favorites a little later.

message 2716: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Yay! Glad you had a good time, KimeyDiann!!

message 2717: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments @Ann - That is amazing about your cat! I know you are ecstatic to have him home!

@Peggy - sorry you didn't get the house you were wanting. Hopefully you can find an equally great house soon!

@Janice - Yes, moving is a pain. But living in a place where you are not comfortable or happy is a much bigger pain. Don't talk yourself in circles. It sounds like moving is the best option, even if it just means you'll have to move again in a few years. Moving is a temporary stress and it sounds like you have good friends and family that would be willing to help you with the process. You'll be happier in the long run if you have a place to call home where you feel safe and comfortable.

message 2718: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Janice, I agree with Kimey. Moving will be a pain, now or in 1, 3 or 5 years. In a first moving you'll probably declutter a lot of stuff. You can keep in boxes things you are not going to need. The second time will be much easier. You are not comfortable where you are. Moving will improve the way you feel, specially if you don't know how long will you need to wait until be able to buy a house.

Your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun KimeyDiann! I'm really glad you all had a good time!

Do they still have The Mummy ride in Universal Studios? That was one of my favourites.

message 2720: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Move move move. I agree. Pain the arse, but you don't like where you are now. Also, if you're somewhere you like, with nice landlords (who need to be nice so they get their tax done) then you can take your time finding another place, and finding the right one. We had to buy quickly due to our rental, and I don't recommend it. This way you can relax about it all when the time comes.

very true. You can declutter and then keep some rarely used things in boxes for the next move.

message 2722: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Glad you had fun, KimeyDiann! I agree, those parks are amazing. Did you ride the train from one HP park to the one on the other side? That was new since I've been there and it was really cool.

Mariab | 3059 comments Oh, Pqggy! I'm sorry about your house; but sometimes the buy process do not complete... Who knows?

message 2724: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I took two friends and a measuring tape back to the suite tonight and I left feeling very underwhelmed. I'm so glad I went back for a second look. There are some things that I really like about the suite, but the things that matter the most are missing. There is only one closet in the entire suite, and it's a half sized closet to boot. I would go from two full sized closets, one walk-in closet, and one pantry to a half-sized closet. I felt almost a sense of panic about where I would store all my stuff. If I didn't have my home office to contend with, it would be suitable. But the home office really changes things.

As my friend said, "Janice, you've had too many concessions in the last three years to make more now."

So, it's no to both places. There were those two, and I'm sure there will be more. I just have to be patient.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments There was a nasty accident on the Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers theme park yesterday. Sounds absolutely horrible! It must have been terrifying for those involved and those who witnessed it happening.

message 2726: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Sounds like you made the right decision Janice. You have to go with what feels right otherwise you'll be unhappy with where you are at. Other things will come along I am sure which tick all the boxes for you.

Sorry to hear the house has been sold Peggy. As others have said, I'm sure you will find one even more perfect for you.

Yes I heard about the rollercoaster accident Lisa. Very scary. I do love rollercoasters and they don't tend to worry me as generally they are well maintained and very few accidents occur. But when they do, it goes wrong big time.

Glad you had a good time at Disney World KimeyDiann. It would be my worst nightmare unfortunately as I hate people dressed up in costumes.

I hate the worst bike ride to work ever yesterday - wind and rain and a flat tire! I'm all pumped up today and the wind has died down and the sun has come out so hopefully when it's time for me to go I'll be alright.

message 2727: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I'm not feeling so great today. I think I'll take the day off (other than a couple of errands) and see if a day of R&R will help. Maybe I'll go back to bed for the second time this morning.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Lol! But indeed, to have even their names published. I wonder who gave the reporters their names and ages. I hope for them it's one of those stories you will laugh about in the future.
