So very cool. Please don't feed them bread though. Grapes are good duck food.

There's an even better one, with Johnny Depp joining Eddie Vedder on guitar. Two of the best looking men on earth looking incredibly sexy playing guitar. That video seriously makes me drool and go weak in the knees.

So exciting! What a beautiful place!
Oh jeez. $270 000 AUD?!? You can't buy a thing for that in Canberra at the moment. Oh I lie. You can buy a long term caravan in the industrial suburb's caravan park for that. I'd link you one, but there are none available at the moment. So I guess I'm correct in saying you can't buy anything for that price.

You guys are so chatty today! I should be doing some work now! But being here at YLTO is so much fun!
I was thinking we should do a "Appreciation Week" for our awesome YLTO moderators. What do you think?

Travis, dancing with your kids is always good in my book. You sound like a fun, awesome dad. They will have great memories of that. :)
I had no idea JD and MM were BFFS, would never have guessed that.

I got some good news at the end of last week. I got contacted about a job opportunity for nurse practitioner in the place I want to work. The recruiter is out of town until Wednesday, but wants to meet after that. I am currently working night shift in a hospital intensive care. This will be a job at a clinic seeing pediatric (children) patients. It is a 8- 5 job so I will have a normal schedule and NO HOLIDAYS!!! It is what I got my Masters in and would be a nice increase in income as well as less stress. Wish me luck!

Good luck Amanda! Sounds perfect for you!

Urgh. I know, I know. To be fair, the idiot shouldn't have brought his dogs in and seemed to think that the rules didn't apply to him.
I like not having rabies as an example on why our quarantine laws are so tight. Could you image Red Kangaroos with rabies?! 2m tall, disembowel you in a single kick, and want to bite your face off!! No thank you very much. Not to mention the fact that a lot of our native animals and plants are only found here and tend to get wiped out by anything that graces our shore.
But bloody Barnaby couldn't resist getting his big red face on international tv and threaten people and dogs. Depp should have been slapped with a whopping huge fine, one giant fine per dog even, and then dogs locked up in quarantine (which is about $400 per day, you really need to want to bring your pet with you) until he went home, or they were cleared. Although, if you or I brought our dogs in like that we could face jail too, so if the breach is warranting a court appearance, then so be it. We just don't need good ol' Barnaby being a tosser about it all.

Now that is a scary image! I agree that he shouldn't have brought them in knowing that there are restrictions - everyone knows it. He's lucky enough to be in a position to pay huge fines whereas joe public would do time.

Although I agree that Barnaby's response was a bit over the top as well (at least here in the news it was said that he threatened to have the dogs killed)

He was looking for a soundbite and the ability to look tough.
And now everyone in the world knows him as the jerk who threatened to kill Johnny Depp's dogs. Hah! Idiot.

Wow, love the idea of the walls, Berit!

That would be great Amanda! Positive thoughts!

Definitively I don't want to have to see something like that!
Law is for everyone. And in this kind of rules, one stupid person who doesn't respect them could be enough to provoke a big problem. If one person smokes where is not allowed, is wrong but probably it won't end in a catastrophe. But is not that you need 100 dogs suffering rabies to infect a populations of other animals. Just one is enough.

I read about Johnny Depp's dogs as well! What a dumb dumb to think he could just get away with it. I know in Hawai'i they have rules as well about dogs over. (Not sure about other pets). Dogs have to have a rabies vaccines within a certain time frame and such. If not they have to be quarantined for quite a bit of time :( hubby and I had all the testing done for Blake because we thought we would be moving there instead of Virginia so we wanted to be prepared. Hawai'i is still the goal though :)

Amanda, good luck with the nurse practitioner position.
Johnny Depp, you can bring your dogs to my place. And your guitar.
I have to say, I have always hated that song "You're So Vain". From the first time I heard the lyrics, "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you." I mean, seriously??

Apparently, Carly Simon wrote that song about Warren Beatty. Or so I heard.

First, the basement suite is a walk-out basement. The kitchen, living room and bathroom are on ground level. I would come straight in from the deck to a big beautiful area - no stairs! New appliances, big front living room window letting in lots of light. There's a huge deck with lawn furniture that I can use. Downside is the bedrooms are rather small. I'm not sure I'd get all my stuff in.
The condo apartment is also nice, but the living room/kitchen are so small, I'm not sure I'd get all my stuff in. I doubt I would get my table in even though it's a small apartment sized table.
I'm leaning towards the basement suite! I'm going back tomorrow with a friend and a measuring tape.
It's funny. When I walked into the "patio apartment" this morning, I felt this overwhelming feeling of unease and uncertainty. I think it was the size of the living area. I think I'd rather have a larger living area and small bedroom than a large bedroom and cramped living area.

Go with your heart

Mariab, glad you're posting again. Missed you!

I just got a call from the real estate agent. Apparently the seller received a bid this morning and he immediately said all other viewings could be cancelled. And we planned to make a bid this afternoon, it our estate agent didn't point out any major defects. Just imagine, it might have been ours today if the people this morning hadn't been there. And maybe our offer would have been even higher! I feel sad :( We really wanted this place :(
