Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Oh ok. I was thinking angled rooms are neat but must be impossible to arrange with furniture. I much prefer square. And looking at pictures on my phone isn't as easy as larger size on computer anyway

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments https://youtu.be/X9BEjwI5DJg. This is one song which Johnny Depp plays guitar for Marilyn Manson. I knew he played guitar with the band once in a while but didn't realize the two are bff's. They even have matching friendship tattoo's. Maybe a couple since googling finds say they have matching back and wrist tattoos. One has their left wrist the other the right wrist.

So very cool. Please don't feed them bread though. Grapes are good duck food.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I love that video!

There's an even better one, with Johnny Depp joining Eddie Vedder on guitar. Two of the best looking men on earth looking incredibly sexy playing guitar. That video seriously makes me drool and go weak in the knees.

I WANT THEM! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcgtT...

So exciting! What a beautiful place!

Oh jeez. $270 000 AUD?!? You can't buy a thing for that in Canberra at the moment. Oh I lie. You can buy a long term caravan in the industrial suburb's caravan park for that. I'd link you one, but there are none available at the moment. So I guess I'm correct in saying you can't buy anything for that price.

message 2656: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Yeah there are videos with Johnny Depp live with MM but I thought those 2 may scare people unfamiliar with marilyn manson live. Lol

message 2657: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Depp definitely looks more in place with Vedder I must say

message 2658: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Oh lol, I though you had posted a live video, I just assumed I knew which one it was ;-)

Stephanie The house looks so cool, Peggy!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that ya'll get it :-)

message 2660: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I haven't run across a live version of you're so vain. Just the beautiful people and sweet dreams. You're so vain is the one I wanted and did post. No one has time to click on every link that pops up around here

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I love a good back ache in the morning. My bulk tank washer is currently broke which means travis is the tank washer 1500 gallon tabk so its about 15ft long and about 5ft diameter with a 24" manhole to climb into. I am 5'9" so you have to be bent over the whole time. It sucks and I hate it and hooefully they can fix it soon. I have a pair of boots just for tank washing since it does break occasionally. In case your having visions of a farmer with manure caked boots hopping in there. Gross. I drink that milk

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Oh, I'm sorry Travis. I hope your back feels better soon.

You guys are so chatty today! I should be doing some work now! But being here at YLTO is so much fun!

I was thinking we should do a "Appreciation Week" for our awesome YLTO moderators. What do you think?

message 2663: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Peggy, that house is beautiful! Good luck with the second showing. I love seeing how the rest of the world lives. :)

Travis, dancing with your kids is always good in my book. You sound like a fun, awesome dad. They will have great memories of that. :)

I had no idea JD and MM were BFFS, would never have guessed that.

message 2664: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I second that Sandra!! Our mods do so much!! And they keep us sane :-)

message 2665: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) I also agree Sandra, fabulous idea! Maybe we can make them walls of appreciation :-) and people can post badges and thanks and all that!

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments Peggy, the house looks beautiful. I hope you get it. I know how exciting and stressful buying a new house can be.

I got some good news at the end of last week. I got contacted about a job opportunity for nurse practitioner in the place I want to work. The recruiter is out of town until Wednesday, but wants to meet after that. I am currently working night shift in a hospital intensive care. This will be a job at a clinic seeing pediatric (children) patients. It is a 8- 5 job so I will have a normal schedule and NO HOLIDAYS!!! It is what I got my Masters in and would be a nice increase in income as well as less stress. Wish me luck!

message 2667: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I had no idea Johnny Depp played guitar or had done so live with Marilyn Mansion and Eddie Vedder. Thank you Travis and Peggy - I've been enjoying watching them on you tube. Love them all. Let's hope Rusalka's lot don't bang Depp up for taking his dog in to the country. have you read MM's autobiography Travis? Pretty messed up but very good.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Sarah wrote: "Let's hope Rusalka's lot don't bang Depp up for taking his dog in to the country."

Urgh. I know, I know. To be fair, the idiot shouldn't have brought his dogs in and seemed to think that the rules didn't apply to him.

I like not having rabies as an example on why our quarantine laws are so tight. Could you image Red Kangaroos with rabies?! 2m tall, disembowel you in a single kick, and want to bite your face off!! No thank you very much. Not to mention the fact that a lot of our native animals and plants are only found here and tend to get wiped out by anything that graces our shore.

But bloody Barnaby couldn't resist getting his big red face on international tv and threaten people and dogs. Depp should have been slapped with a whopping huge fine, one giant fine per dog even, and then dogs locked up in quarantine (which is about $400 per day, you really need to want to bring your pet with you) until he went home, or they were cleared. Although, if you or I brought our dogs in like that we could face jail too, so if the breach is warranting a court appearance, then so be it. We just don't need good ol' Barnaby being a tosser about it all.

Sarah | 18550 comments Rusalka wrote: "Oh jesus I just imagined a Tassie Devil with rabies..."

Now that is a scary image! I agree that he shouldn't have brought them in knowing that there are restrictions - everyone knows it. He's lucky enough to be in a position to pay huge fines whereas joe public would do time.

message 2673: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I hate it when celebrities (or other rich people) think rules don't apply to them, or get treated differently for breaking rules.

Although I agree that Barnaby's response was a bit over the top as well (at least here in the news it was said that he threatened to have the dogs killed)

message 2674: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Yeah he did. Now technically they could of by the rule of the law. But not by him (agriculture minister, not immigration and customs minister). And they were obviously okay, and didn't need to be destroyed. They could have just gone to be monitored.

He was looking for a soundbite and the ability to look tough.

And now everyone in the world knows him as the jerk who threatened to kill Johnny Depp's dogs. Hah! Idiot.

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Rusalka wrote: "Oh jesus I just imagined a Tassie Devil with rabies..."

Definitively I don't want to have to see something like that!
Law is for everyone. And in this kind of rules, one stupid person who doesn't respect them could be enough to provoke a big problem. If one person smokes where is not allowed, is wrong but probably it won't end in a catastrophe. But is not that you need 100 dogs suffering rabies to infect a populations of other animals. Just one is enough.

message 2678: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments In Europe, dogs have passports and can pass between countries without quarantine from what I understand. I think this is a little odd. When I was at the doctors the other day there was a poster on the wall of rabies coverage across the world. Happily, here in the UK there is no risk. But in France there are some cases plus the more Eastern European countries - so why do we allow dogs to move from country to country in Europe without vetting?!?

message 2679: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Good luck, Amanda! Sending out positive thoughts your way. :)

I hate entitled people. JD included.

message 2681: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Good luck, Amanda! Keeping fingers crossed for you :-)

I read about Johnny Depp's dogs as well! What a dumb dumb to think he could just get away with it. I know in Hawai'i they have rules as well about dogs over. (Not sure about other pets). Dogs have to have a rabies vaccines within a certain time frame and such. If not they have to be quarantined for quite a bit of time :( hubby and I had all the testing done for Blake because we thought we would be moving there instead of Virginia so we wanted to be prepared. Hawai'i is still the goal though :)

Amanda, good luck with the nurse practitioner position.

Johnny Depp, you can bring your dogs to my place. And your guitar.

I have to say, I have always hated that song "You're So Vain". From the first time I heard the lyrics, "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you." I mean, seriously??

message 2684: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Personally I hate the way 27 dresses has forever locked Matthew Maconaughy howeveer you spell it and the greys anatomy chick into my memory anytime you're so vain is played. Seriously it seems all woman I've met cannot flip past 27 dresses and I've seen that movie like 40 times. Never wpuld have been plenty for me

message 2685: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59893 comments I may have seen it once, Travis, and then only parts of it.

Apparently, Carly Simon wrote that song about Warren Beatty. Or so I heard.

message 2686: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I had heard about Johnny Depp and his dogs but I didn't know that he is potentially facing jail because of it. I thought Barnaby threatening to kill the dogs was an overreaction but at the same time nobody should think they are above the law, celebrity or not. Laws apply to everyone and being famous should not mean that you are exempt and free to do whatever you like.

message 2687: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Isn't the song a contradiction. I mean she is telling him hes so vain so why wouldn't he think the aongs about him. Always been confused about the logic in the writing

Tasha haha, that's true! ^^

Janice (jamasc) | 59893 comments I'm in a quandary. I saw both suites today, and I can't decide which one I want to take.

First, the basement suite is a walk-out basement. The kitchen, living room and bathroom are on ground level. I would come straight in from the deck to a big beautiful area - no stairs! New appliances, big front living room window letting in lots of light. There's a huge deck with lawn furniture that I can use. Downside is the bedrooms are rather small. I'm not sure I'd get all my stuff in.

The condo apartment is also nice, but the living room/kitchen are so small, I'm not sure I'd get all my stuff in. I doubt I would get my table in even though it's a small apartment sized table.

I'm leaning towards the basement suite! I'm going back tomorrow with a friend and a measuring tape.

It's funny. When I walked into the "patio apartment" this morning, I felt this overwhelming feeling of unease and uncertainty. I think it was the size of the living area. I think I'd rather have a larger living area and small bedroom than a large bedroom and cramped living area.

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Basement suite with larger living area tho smaller bedrooms sounds like best fit. And "big front living room window letting in lots of light" reinforces this, too.

Mariab, glad you're posting again. Missed you!

message 2692: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments The basement apartment sounds like the better choice now :) I would also rather have small bedrooms and larger living space than the other way around.

message 2693: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I hate making decisions like that Janice but go with your instincts. I have in the past gone for smaller/not so ideal bedroom space in order to get the living/kitchen area that I desired. Could you make use of other areas in the apartment to store some of your bedroomy stuff?

message 2694: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Forgot to say Rusalka, we're not feeding the ducks with bread. Been giving them seeds. We've told a number of people along the canal not to feed the ducks and swans with bread - it seems to be ingrained in to everyone that that is what they eat. I did film us feeding them but I don't think photobucket accepts video - I might have to check out whether I can upload to YouTube or not - if I can work it out, I'll post the link.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Noooo, the house was sold! :(

I just got a call from the real estate agent. Apparently the seller received a bid this morning and he immediately said all other viewings could be cancelled. And we planned to make a bid this afternoon, it our estate agent didn't point out any major defects. Just imagine, it might have been ours today if the people this morning hadn't been there. And maybe our offer would have been even higher! I feel sad :( We really wanted this place :(
