Stephanie Oh my goodness! Sorry to hear about the car accident? Are you ok?

message 2602: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I hope it was just car damage!

Summer is coming!!! Next weekend over 30C (86F)! To be honest it's maybe a bit too much, but I'm soooo happy summer is finally here. I'm also done with most of my dissertation so hopefully I can enjoy it :D

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Glad to know you are almost done with your dissertation, Peggy! We've had a gorgeous weather in the last 2 weeks, and we have really enjoyed it.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments @Peggy and @Sandra - can you send some of your nice, sunny weather to the UK please? It's really cold and miserable here at the moment :( Having said that, nicer weather is forecast towards the end of next week but the temperatures are still not meant to get much above 70 degrees (which is still quite good by our standards). The blazing summer that they talked about months ago seems to not be materialising.

message 2606: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Cold and miserable here too today Lisa :( From Thursday it will get better.

message 2607: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Thanks for asking all .. Good thing no one got hurt .. Its only a car damage .. But I feel sorry for the car, even though it is pretty small and its not fast and old but I really love it .. It is the first car I drove right after I took my driving licence <3 I love that stupid old car more than what I should ;P

You make summer sounds really cool Peggy, I hate summer it gets so hot down here and sometimes it gets over 46C .. You can actually cook an egg in our weather using the sun heat only - I'm not exaggerating - !! You keep sweating and everything goes hot, you can't stay outside without having the hot weather effecting your mood, the only good thing about summer is swimming pool !!!

You can send us the cold weather Lisa and I'll send you some of this desert weather !!

A new book always does the trick in fixing my mood :P"

Haha! I recognize those symptoms. Then when I look at my ever growing list of books/audiobooks owned waiting to be read, I don't feel so good any more.

message 2609: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) LOL! I have that same problem, I will go on buying binges and then, I am super overwhelmed!
Yesterday I took in my recycling and got $77, and then I proceeded to spend almost that same amount on books, sigh!

message 2610: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59893 comments I'm going to go through my physical book shelves and take some books to the used book store. If I have to move them, I may as well move them where I can make some money off of them. Best time to de-clutter is when you move. :) It's amazing how much stuff I've acquired since I moved in here 3 years ago.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments CFDeeDee wrote: "You can send us the cold weather Lisa and I'll send you some of this desert weather!!"

Hehe, thanks! I might just do that ;) Your weather reminds me of the weather we had in Egypt a few years ago whilst on holiday. It was up in the mid 40s every day. The day we went to The Valley of the Kings and Luxor it was 51C! Never been so hot in my life!

message 2612: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments LOL CFDeeDee, everyone in the Netherlands would think you were crazy if you told them 31C is cool ;-) Most people tend to complain (again, it's never right) when temps get that high.

We went for a house viewing again today, and it was exactly the kind of house we're looking for! So we're both pretty excited :) It has only been online for 10 days and many people have been to look at it and more will come in the next few days, so I'm not too sure we will be the people getting it, but we'll see. We'll try to go for a second viewing next week.

Ann (ann7258) | 334 comments I got my cat back. He was missing for almost a year, through the toughest of Canadian winters. He went missing last June. Goodness only knows how he survived. He was found an incredible 22 miles from home.

message 2621: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Janice: I didn't reach that level yet .. I guess I would need couple more years to feel it ;P .. But when I set myself to reading I read fast and a lot .. So I guess I'm on so far ;) I guess having many books would always make it harder to move !!

Berit that sounds nice, I never heard of such events down town here !!

Now you know what I mean Lisa .. Thats why I always want to travel to a snowy country one day .. And make a snowman, I always wanted to make a snow man

I hope you get the house Peggy, keep up the positive thoughts of having it :D

Woow Ann that is really amazing, house pets usually don't survive outside their owner's environment, good thing he made it !!

message 2624: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee I was pretty busy with my penciles lately
Just something I was thinking about:

If you ever had the chance to turn your life story into a book ..
What title would you pick for it?!
How the cover would look like?!

My book would be called "Little Lies" and the book cover would be very dark blue with naked walking legs ..

It would be something like this :

What about you guys ?!

message 2625: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I started writing a little story about my dog, Blake and how he helped me get through a bad marriage and other stuff. Just something for me :-)

message 2626: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh and the title would be January and Jake and I would probably use a picture of Blake :-)

message 2627: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee That sounds nice and pretty cool, interesting title as well .. And that is one lucky dog you've got there ..

message 2628: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thank you :) he has been the best dog :) I have an awesome husband now but my first was pretty awful and Blake made dealing with the divorce and such a lot easier..emotionally anyways :) I gave up everything so I could keep him and I don't regret anything about that :)

message 2629: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Glad to know that .. Pets always make things easier on us, in every situation we face in our life

message 2630: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Pleased you have your cat back Ann.

I've been treated to a wildlife extravaganza on the canal this weekend. Yesterday two swans and their four cygnets came to say hello and spent ages around our boat. Then we had an aerial display by a huge group of swifts/swallows/housemartins (not sure which ones they were - they all look very similar - they were blue/black on top and very light underneath). Then a Moorhen and her baby swam past and all the while the fish were jumping out of the water. Then today a female duck and her 11 ducklings which have grown quite a bit came up to our boat and I was feeding them. Loving living on a boat.

We're forecast warmer weather from the end of the week so I'm looking forward to spending some time in the sun.

Sarah | 18550 comments Awesome dad! No doubt.

message 2641: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Definitely awesome Travis!

We had a meeting this morning with a purchasing agent (that's google translate talking; a person who is on our side when buying a house, helps with negotiations and all official parts of the whole thing) and she does not take things slow! She's going to try to get us a second viewing this week (together with her) at the house we loved so much last Saturday. It's all so exciting! There were a lot of interested people though...

Some pictures are here: http://www.funda.nl/koop/roermond/hui...

message 2642: by Peggy (last edited Jun 01, 2015 02:07AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments She just called and arranged a meeting for tomorrow. There was actually no room anymore on the sales agent (again, google translate) side, but she managed to make it work anyway.

She also said that we should think about the minimum and maximum price we want to offer, because we might have to make an offer tomorrow already (if we still want the house) because there is so much interest.

edit: I should work now but I'm too excited!

message 2643: by Sarah (last edited Jun 01, 2015 02:33AM) (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Excited for you Peggy. I'll keep everything crossed. I think google translate is spot on pretty much - we would deal with an Estate agent here but they also get called Sales Agents.

EDIT: Just checked out the pictures and it looks amazing! That is an extremely good price for the condition and size of the property. I would have been lucky to have got a 1 bedroom flat in a rough area for that money. That's why I live on a boat :-)

message 2644: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Travis, the most important thing is that makes you HER father. :) She will have great memories of this moments.

Peggy, looks BEAUTIFUL! I really hope you get the house if you loved it so much! In the US she would be a "real state agent" or just a "realtor".

message 2645: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments That is a lovely house Peggy! I really hope you get it!

message 2646: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Wonderful, Peggy. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

message 2647: by Peggy (last edited Jun 01, 2015 03:04AM) (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Thanks all! I hope all the crossed fingers will help :D

Sarah: I live in the south of the Netherlands, and prices here are nothing compared to the popular and more central areas in and around Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hague for example. I think a 1 bedroom flat in a rough area is also all you would get in one of those cities.

message 2648: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Thanks everyone.

Nice house Peggy. Except the room with the long narrow yellow bed thing. That just screams prison to me but that could be fixed. I likr how everything is done with pavers outside. Is it just the pictures or are at least some of the rooms not perfectly square but built at angles. Never see much not built square around here so that's a new concept to me

message 2649: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Note: it was specifically the yellow bed that screamed prison not the room itself

message 2650: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I think it's just the pictures Travis, everything seemed square when we were there.

Thankfully we're buying just the house, not the furniture ;-) I figured the small room would make a nice library! I can see it with the walls covered from top to bottom with books. Not sure if bf has other plans though ;-)
