That's why I have what I call "spring coat". It makes me feel less coward. :)

message 2502: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I recently got a really fun 'spring jacket' so I've been happy to have the chance to wear it. :)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I made the right call. I just ran into my brother who told me a friend of ours spoilt it on Facebook. Why do people feel like they need to ruin things for others?

Too bad your game wasn't here in northern Alberta. We had temps hovering steady all day at 28C (82F). I'm sure we hit 30 at the high. It's 9:30 pm and dropped to 24 (75F).

message 2505: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments no spoiling here Rusalka - completely forgot it was on. I used to really like it but I don't watch it much now.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I watched Eurovision for the first time in 6 years. The UK's song was good! *please read that last bit in a sarcastic tone*

I agree Rusalka. I hate it when people spoil things for others. The newspapers are just as bad. The Christmas Special of Downton Abbey got spoiled for us a few years ago because we recorded it and then the next day the headline in our newspaper was all about what happened and it gave the game away. Don't they realise that not everyone watches everything live any more?

message 2507: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments My favourite was this week when the national news broadcaster had a spoiler for Game of Thrones on their front page and every other news page. Except, you can't watch Game of Thrones here legally yet ... Oops.

That's been in some of our newspapers too. I am a few series behind on Game of Thrones yet I know all the big spoilers thanks to them.

message 2509: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I thought the world was going to end a coue weeks back as what seemed like every woman in America was hitting social media saying how mad they were at Greys Anatomy for a particular event. Only they said wgat it was. Then came on the people who had dvr'd the show and were extremely irritated at everyone for letting out a huge spoiler like that.

message 2510: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Travis, I was one of the angry ones, ;-) one of my friends posted about it and I should have known better thank to check Facebook before I watched the episode:) but I'm over it now :)

message 2511: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee I hate it when people spoil something just because they just seen it .. Even if they're not fans of it !!
I never seen any of these shows .. But still, spoilers suck !

I was all nervous this morning because of the orthodontist appointment, even though its been more than 6 months seeing him !! Dunno why I had that feeling !!

Just to make things correct I went to order few new books :D
I just can't resist having new books between now and then .. PS: I still have more than 8 books I haven't read yet .. Is this normal or is it just me ?!

I know how you feel, I used to hate going to the orthodontist too. I had to have fixed braces twice, once when I was 10 and again when I was 14, and I hated having to go and have them tightened and things because my orthodontist was a pretty scary guy. He never spoke to you or anything. The braces themselves were ok though.

As far as new books go, it's not just you. I am always buying them even though I have over 100 (!) that I have not read yet. Let's call it an addiction ;)

message 2513: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee A scary doctor would make the experience even harder Lisa .. Thank god my ortho doc is so cool .. We have a little chat about books before we start the treatment because every time I go I take a different book with me to read while waiting to be called :P

I thought it was just me who gets this much unread books, sounds like it runs between bookworms ^.^"

message 2514: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Same here. - I have 150 books unread on Kindle and bookshelf. Welcome to the club of book addicts!

Stephanie Hubby and I spent the morning at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. My hubby just told me to tell you all "hello" :) the President made a speech and it was a really cool day to be a part of. We got the chance to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier :) it was a beautiful day. Hot, but beautiful :) Hope you all are having a great day!

message 2516: by Sara (new)

Sara (saraboulos) I always felt guilty about buying new books when I still wasn't finished with the ones I already have, but now that you guys brought it up, I feel like.. maybe I should buy more books!

Stephanie Hoping and praying that all our friends are ok in Texas! I just caught the news about the weather over there :( now there is flooding I believe (per news on Facebook).

message 2520: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Really bad flooding, they need to send the rain here, we are in a severe drought, crazy isn't it?

message 2521: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Very. The only weather I like is sun filled days with some rain at night (but not severe rain that causes floods or any other bad weather).

message 2522: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments The weather in totally crazy...

message 2523: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments I worked all weekend and it was rough. I work in a NiCU and we got a set of quads and 2 sets or twins in 2 days. It was crazy and exhausting. I hope everyone else had a good holiday weekend.

message 2524: by Tasha (new)

Tasha wow, that's really crazy, Amanda!

message 2525: by Stephanie (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments wow! that's a good amount of new born!

message 2527: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Took me ages to work out what you were all on about. I thought Amanda was talking about the winds being rough as we'd been talking about the bad weather in Texas (although I don't know whether it's windy or not there at the moment). Then I was trying to rack my brains what quads and twins meant in relation to winds and I drew a blank. I guess the fact I didn't know what NiCU was (or Amanda's profession) didn't help much. Now I get it. That's impressive! lol.

We had a very productive weekend making our solar box - nearly there. We should have it finished next weekend. Anyone else find painting therapeutic (not the art kind, the diy kind)? Lovely weekend weather wise here in the UK, I even got a bit of sunburn as I was caught out by the nice weather.

message 2528: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Floods are scary .. Good thing we never had one down here !!
Only one time we had a big storm that made the trees on the street fell and block the roads but that was ages ago .. I was a little kido back then !!

I feel weird, very weird .. I was suppose to sleep and rest but I woke up so tired and exhausted and I can't remember what did I dream about, but it wasn't a nice dream for sure.

Today I'm gonna cook lunch for the family, gonna make fish and chips and by afternoon I'll be drawing [ Taking a small break from books ].

message 2529: by Lisa (last edited May 27, 2015 02:01AM) (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Glad to hear you are making progress on your solar box Sarah :) It sounds like you had better weather in your part of the UK over the weekend than I did. It was dry but quite cloudy. Still, at least it didn't rain which makes a change for a Bank Holiday weekend. Lovely morning here at the moment though.

message 2530: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Hm, I don't think I find any DIY jobs therapeutic. Although admittedly I also don't have much experience.

We had a lovely day on Sunday but that's it. On the news yesterday they said this May is the coldest since 1991! Apparently the average May has 10 warm days (temp over 20C), this May had only 2 and it's not going to be much better during the rest of the week. There has been a reasonable amount of sunshine, but also a lot of hard and cold wind. I haven't been able to sit outside much yet. Let's hope June will make up for it :)

We have had pretty cold weather for May. It's looking more hopeful for June though, if the newspapers and weather forecasts are to be believed.

message 2532: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I have no experience of diy either Peggy but I seem to just zone out when I'm painting which I quite like. As we don't know what we're doing, everything is taking much longer than we think to complete. We'll be dab hands in no time though (hopefully).

The sun was out all day Saturday here in Bath and really hot, Sunday was cloudier but still warm and yesterday was another gorgeous day. Today is looking good too. I hope June is better, although I don't think May was too bad. We've not had to have our fire on over night all week so that's a good sign.

One of the things I'm enjoying at the moment is sitting in the outside part of our boat and while sat there, I get to hear small snippets of people's conversations as they walk/run/cycle past. I love hearing these excerpts out of context - they make me laugh so much and very curious about what they are talking about generally. My favourite of the weekend was "It looked a little bit like a butt plug". I think we should keep a list of them - it would make for an interesting twitter feed ;-)

message 2533: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Makes sense Sarah. I can imagine when you're doing something that is not too difficult but does require some attention, it gives you a nice state of mind :)

Sitting outside and listening to people sounds like a great way to spend the day!

message 2535: by Stephanie (new)

message 2536: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments Sarah, I am sorry for the confusion. I think you got it, but just to be safe I will clarify. I am a registered nurse and I work in a neonatal intensive care unit. I take care of premature and ill newborns. I forget about the international aspect of these discussions.

message 2537: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments No worries Amanda. I'm guessing it's called something similar here maybe but as I've never had any dealings with babies it's not come up on my radar. and it doesn't take much to get me confused.

message 2538: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I love reading the conversations here after not checking in for a while. I was behind with 117 new, but caught up now.

It is beautiful outside here today (sunny and slight wind, 73F/23C) and it is killing me that I cannot go outside and work in the yard until I finish the working day. I had a headache at lunch but it did not keep me from finishing my book. :)

It's been really bad flooding here in Austin as well as south of Austin in San Marcos and poor Wimberley got slammed. Now Houston dealing with massive flooding - on same day brother and family returning from Malaysia after 3 years abroad. But my family and friends are safe, thankfully. Not everyone has been so fortunate. Lots of clean up to do! Off to help at animal shelter.

message 2540: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I'm happy to hear you, your family and friends are all safe!!

message 2541: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59893 comments I'm in a quandary. I just learned of two apartments that are available. They are both 2 bedroom, same price, utilities included. One is a basement suite, and the other is on the ground floor of an apartment with underground parking. I'm leaning towards the apartment with underground parking. I would have two fenced patios (one off the main bedroom and one off the living room) that are not facing the street. I could sit out and have coffee in the morning.

I've been wanting to move out of this apartment for a while. You've all been patient listening to me complain about the shenanigans in my current digs.

I've been waiting for the settlement from my divorce (which I'm beginning to think is never going to be resolved), so that I could buy a place and only move once. But for two opportunities to fall in my lap within a 24 hour period, I think I should jump at them. If, in a year's time, the settlement is finalized, I can move again.

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) I say move to the patio apartment!

Janice (jamasc) | 59893 comments I'm going to go see both suites on Monday, but I've pretty much decided to go for the patio apartment. I just had a lengthy text conversation with my son. He's supportive (and will help me move). He said, "You've got to get out of that apartment you're in." Then I told him the cops were here the other day investigating two tenant vehicles in the parking lot. No, mine wasn't one of them. LOL! That sealed the idea for him.

message 2550: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Patio!!!

I'm surprised that there is such thing as a basement apartment. A basement is for storage, not people!
