Stephanie We haven't watched it yet. My hubby was really tired so he fell asleep. We will probably watch it this weekend :) neither one of has read the books :) I didn't even know there were books in regards to the series :)

message 2302: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Stephanie they are free on KU, just a little FYI

message 2303: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thanks, Berit :)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I loved the books, Stephanie. I think the show will be a big hit with people that haven't read the books, but I'm just not sure how I feel about it since I already know everything. I think I would enjoy rereading them because I could pick out all of the subtle details I might not have noticed the first time. I'm just not finding it as suspenseful on the small screen yet. But, it was only the first episode.

I really wonder how the shows are going to align with the books. Will one book be one season? Then it would be over after season three.

I just put book one on hold at the library :) I wonder if my TBR list will ever get completed;) not that that's a bad thing :) I love adding to it, just wish I could knock more off at times, lol!

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I watched the first episode last night with my husband. We both had mixed feelings. Not sure I'm willing to make the time commitment to a t.v. show. I'd probably rather read the series : )

message 2307: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I set the dvr to auto record the show, I probably won't remember to watch it every week. I used to have television shows I HAD to watch every week, now I rarely even turn the TV on.

Happy weekend everyone! I'm so glad to be off work in only 6 more minutes! LOL.

message 2308: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) I'm the same way, I never remember when anything is on :-) so I end up watching nothing, until I binge watch the entire series :-)

Using the "unread" function now to see all your witty comments.

I have been outside since 6am cutting back blackberries in my side yard. Going to take a shower and the start work at 8am. It has finally stopped raining since last Tuesday. I am ready for sunshine again.

I will check in later. Today is my youngest grandchild's 6th birthday. Going swimming. That is what he wants to do. Love it!!!!

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I don't ever use the notifications so I haven't noticed that it is or isn't working. I just look for the red "new" next to threads I read to see if I need to check in.

Good Luck, Samantha!

Not only are we trying to get everything taken care of from the water-heater leak at my mother-in-law's house last week, she has a roof leak now, too! It rained pretty heavily yesterday evening and she had a drip in her living room. If the rain will hold off this evening my husband is going to patch the leak. I guess we'll be looking in to a roof replacement for her house soon.

I just really hope nothing else goes wrong over the next couple of weeks. We leave this weekend for our Disney World trip and will be gone for a week. My husband is so stressed about leaving his mom alone, especially since it seems like everything is going wrong lately.

message 2328: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee That sounds a lovely day Cherie .. I love rain so much .. It rains only 2~3 weeks a year down here :( and never snows .. Happy birthday to the little fella :D

message 2334: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Grats, Samantha!

Is it a long weekend in the States? It is in Canada. The notification bug may still be lingering if Goodreads staff are enjoying an extra day off.

I got all turned around this weekend. It started on Saturday. I asked, "What day is this? Oh, right. It's Sunday." My friend didn't correct me. So yesterday, I got up thinking it was the Stat Holiday and Monday. I was looking at my schedule and panicking because the work I had planned for Tuesday and Wednesday were going to have to be shunted aside because I'm already getting behind. Then, today, thinking it was Tuesday, I drove to my client's to pick up paperwork.

As I was driving by a business I used to work for, I noticed the parking lot was empty. Not one car or truck was in the parking lot. I thought, "Hmm, they must have taken another day off." When I got to my clients', I was greeting by a locked door. "What is going on? Why are businesses closed? Yesterday was the stat holiday." I got back in the car and checked my phone. It said, "MONDAY". I must have been channeling Rusalka.

I've never been caught up in a time warp like that before. While I'm kind of freaked about it, I'm glad that I have that extra day. Things are looking not so bad for my schedule now.

Stephanie Does anyone here watch the show The Following. It has Kevin Bacon in it. It was the series finale tonight :( such a great show! I'm bummed it has been cancelled :(

message 2339: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments oh wow Janice. how weird. just on Aussie time I guess. twoweeks ago I got to work at 10am because I had convinced myself it was Sunday and went back to sleep.

message 2340: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Funny that it lasted for so long Janice! May was a confusing month for me too, lots of national holidays and the last two weeks I changed my weekend from sat/sun to sun/mon. I've been confused about the day almost every day.

Last Thursday was a national holiday and some companies give Fridays off too. My sisters company does, but she didn't know, so she had appointments planned and everything only to find out the door to the building was locked. She didn't want to cancel the appointments, so she gave up her day off.

Me too, KimeyDiann. That is stressful. Is there a neighbor of your Mom's or a church member or such that could check in a couple times on your husband's mother?

Congrats Samantha!!

Don't worry, Janice. Very understandable to get thrown off a day sometimes. Maybe especially since you've just recently been away on holiday. And the plus side is your schedule got a nice " extra day" :)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Congrats Samantha!

message 2343: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments We have a long weekend this coming weekend too. Spring Bank Holiday. Unfortunately there is meant to be a nationwide rail strike starting on Bank Holiday Monday at 5pm and lasting for 24 hours. I think it will be complete chaos if it goes ahead, not just on the trains but also on the roads as more people will be forced to use them. Talks are currently taking place to try and avert it.

message 2344: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Thanks for the well wishes. My husband got the roof leak patched no problem yesterday. The insurance adjuster is supposed to be there this morning to assess the damages from the water heater leak. Hopefully things are improving now.

Tejas Janet, we have a good friend going by twice a day while we are gone to check on my MIL. Plus she has a home health nurse that comes by 1 or 2 times a week and an aid that comes to help her bathe. She should be fine while we are gone, but that doesn't stop the worrying.

Congratulations Samantha. I'm very thankful there are families like yours that are so willing and happy to serve our nation. Hopefully he gets stationed somewhere nice after completing bootcamp. I have two different friends in the army that were lucky enough to get stationed in Hawaii! Another military (not Army, SeaBees) family I know was stationed in Sicily for several years.

message 2345: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Orobably doesn't want to be stationed here at Fort Drum. Nice place except a lot of southerners can't handle winter, but the 10th mountain division is always the first deployed and last to return.

My BIL is marine and is currently in Iraq I think this is #7 for Iraq/Afghanistan. Then some training excersises I think have landed him in Japan.

message 2346: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I live at the end tip of the triangular fly zone/training space so its helicopters jets planes and now they have a drone over head all day and then flares and night excersises over the lake about 8 miles away all night. You never know if its thunder or practicing bombing around these parts. Some of those bombs shake or are felt right through the buildings some times

message 2347: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments This is actually one of the US most northern bases and really became big during the cold war to train in cold weather should Russia need invading. I hink it was cold war anyway. Since then there was a fear of closure with wars in deserts but the government has dumped probably billions to keep this probably one of the 5 main US bases if I was to guess

It was likely a combination of holidays, long weekend, and a backlog of year ends. Plus, I never spoke to anyone other than my cat on Sunday. The time warp actually unsettled me.

I was talking to Dad on Skype last night, and we had a "discussion" about the correct way to say and write the date. I prefer month-day-year and he prefers day-month-year. He finally exclaimed, "No wonder you don't know what day it is. You don't know how to speak or write the date." Thanks Dad! LOL!

One of my friends was all embarrassed on Facebook today because she had thought it was the 19th when it was actually the 17th two days ago. Maybe there's something in the air or the water. Or the moon?

message 2350: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Is there no standard way for dates in Canada Janice? Isn't it confusing when it's 4-6-16 for example, when it can mean either? How do you know what the sender of the date prefers?
