I thought there was a chance the Tories would do better than expected but I am surprised that they are on course for an outright majority. The predictive polls got it completely wrong. Tbh, I am quite glad there is not going to be another coalition government. I personally don't think they work particularly well. And as you say, I think it's definitely been a case of 'better the devil you know' this time.

message 2203: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie We fished in the lake attached to our apartment complex last night! I caught an ok size blue gill (I threw him back though) and hubby had a few bites but nothing held on. I think we are going to fish again this weekend but early in the morning this time :)
It's nice because if I get bored and don't feel like fishing anymore I can walk back to our apartment versus sticking around and hubby can keep on fishing :)

message 2204: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments That sounds like an ideal situation Stephanie!

We are also house hunting. We've visited a few but none of them were exactly what we were looking for, except for one, but that was the first one we looked at and we wanted to look around more before making such a huge decision. By the time we looked at more possible interesting houses and decided that the first one really was the best, it was sold. The search continues.

message 2205: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Oh no, Peggy!! I'm sure you will find something even more suited the next time so you won't even remember this one that got away. ;)

That sounds amazing, Rus! My parents went to a Cirque show in Las Vegas a few years ago and loved it. I hope to get to see one eventually. Being on stage watching would be unbelievably awesome. I know you will have a blast!

message 2207: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I hope so too Tasha!

We found another house online in a village close to where we live now. It's a bit similar in lay-out and facilities to the one we liked so much, but a bit larger and with a better garden. Hopefully it will be just as great when we see it for real. Unfortunately the real estate agency did not have any room for viewings next week, so we can't go there until the 18th. We are going on Monday anyway though, see what it looks like from the outside, what the street and are is like, etc. It's all so exciting!

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Peggy I'm so excited for you, I love househunting, hate moving, but love househunting. I've been living in an apartment for the last couple years and it is growing on me, I'm thinking my kids will be moving out soon, do I really need the house and the yard?

message 2209: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments That does sound exciting, Peggy. Too bad you can't get in to see it sooner.

@Stephanie - I love fishing. How great is it you can walk out the door and cast your rod. :)

@Rusalka - hope you enjoyed the show. I love Cirque de Soleil. I've seen a couple of their shows in Vegas.

message 2210: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I hope you find the house of your dreams, Peggy :) bummer about the one that sold but that just means there is a better one out there for you :)

message 2211: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Janice, what do you like to fish for? What kind of fish do you have up by you? There is a lot of catfish here. Not so much trout :( my favorite to catch is rainbow trout. They are so pretty :) I don't eat it though. My hubby does :)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments description

So this was our view last night. The lights are on the stage, and one of the stage doors was directly behind us so we had people performing around us as well. Amazing stuff again. And I just love the music as well as the acrobatics!

We didn't get picked for participation. Our friend we went with did, and then the stage manager said no (she'd been watching who was drinking). We thought that was a little rude, but then it involved leaf blowers and things, so better to keep the performers safe.

However, we went out afterwards and arrived home at stupid o'clock and I am a very sick little Russy. Too old for a night of drinking and forgetting to drink water it seems. Urgh. I have to go to a work function (another theatre performance) in 2 and a bit hours as well...

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Thanks guys. No one to blame but myself though.

Work function was fine for a saturday night. It was slightly acrobatic though, which meant it was never going to compare. It had no story though... just a lot of movement.

So catching up on everything due to insane week and overdone Friday night. UK election results all a bit interesting...

I just enjoy fishing. It's such a calming activity (except for the fish). We have rainbow trout, perch, and pike in the lakes around here.

I've always meant to go fishing properly again. Just never really had people to show me the ropes.

Perch are fun to catch too :) I caught a Northern Pike once, when we lived in Washington state. We would go up to Sascheen Lake and would end up catching quite a bit of Perch. They always put up a good fight even if they weren't very big :)

I hope you get to go someday, Rusalka :) my hubby is a better "fisherman" even though I catch more than him at times ;) he just knows a lot more than I do.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Yeah I ordered flowers and had both my mom and wifes sent to my mothers. She was watching the kids so I knew she would be home and when the wife picked them up the kids could give them to her. I told mom my wife had flowers coming. This afternoon my mom calls says thanks she had flowers delivered but not my wife. But they didnt come fron the florist I ordered from. Turns out I clicked on a comoketely different florist when I ordered and it took forever to track things down. Then they call and say they had a delivery but couldn't find the road to whivh my mother told them funny you found the house 2 hours ago. Just admit when you screw up and forget an order dont lie and say you cant find the house. Now everyone has recieved their flowers and all is good .

Sarah | 18550 comments I always find it weird that mother's day is celebrated at different times of the year in different countries. You all made me panic thinking I'd missed it for my mum and nan. but no. it was back in March here so I'm off the hook. it is both of their birthdays at the beginning of June though so need to get my thinking that on. what do you buy a 95 year old who always tells me not to bother buying her anything?

message 2238: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2100 comments Sarah wrote: "what do you buy a 95 year old who always tells me not to bother buying her anything? "

What about some pampering, like a foot massage or a manicure? Is she still mobile? Then maybe theatre tickets. Or take her out for a nice lunch.

message 2239: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments All great ideas Camilla. Yes she's still pretty mobile - she has managed to walk the gang plank on to the boat - in fact she has set the standard now so no one else is allowed to moan about crossing it when they come to visit. If I took my nan out she would end up insisting she paid for it. Although I might be able to get away with taking her and my mum out for afternoon cream tea as it's not too expensive so she might cave at my insistence rather than the other way round. I was going to take them on a cruise up the canal on our boat if it's sunny as well.

message 2240: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Just go to the toilet and pay on the way back. You need to be sneaky.

message 2241: by Stephanie (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Rusalka wrote: "Just go to the toilet and pay on the way back. You need to be sneaky."

That is a good idea! Not thought of that before!

Well all this talk of treating other people made me decide to go to the Spa in Bath today to treat myself as I never did make it the other day when I was talking about it. 2 1/2 hours of steam rooms and heated pools. My skin is silky smooth now and I can actually breath through my nose which is a miracle during hayfever season. I also bought some new clothes but I did my usual of going shopping for summer clothes and coming back with all black clothes. Damn my inner Goth! Got home, laid on the sofa to read and fell asleep. Accidentally left my bike out (because I fell asleep) but luckily it was still there but I raced out so quickly upon waking that I nearly fell in the canal. Nearly!

message 2244: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments I'm doing my disclaimer again. I started my new job yesterday. I slept forever last night and debating going to bed again now (9pm). I haven't really done anything, except be nice to people, and learn some names. I had one task to do (while my supervisor was away) and I couldn't complete it as I needed to ask some questions and I had no one to ask. I feel a little useless and exhausted.

But point is, not around much. Will be on at night to catch up on things, but you may have 24hours between responses. I love you all and really want to read any and all of your things, but my brain is broken.

I have a nice office though.

message 2246: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Congrats again on the new job, Rusalka! Hope you get some rest :-)

message 2247: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Hugs Rusalka! New jobs are always stressful in the beginning, so many new people to meet and new things to learn. Every brain would get a little overworked.

Take it easy when you're back home in the evenings :)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Good luck, Rusalka! The first days are gonna be crazy, but it will get better.
