Hi all. Happy May Day! I am feeling so much better. Thank you for asking! Not completely well yet, but much more active without being completely exhausted. My cough is gone today but I still have no voice. Makes it really hard to talk on the phone for work. One more day and I can rest the weekend. So sorry to hear about your car Sarah!
Happy Work day, for all hard workers out there. Specially the moms and dads who have a full time job 24/7/365!
Everyone must have had a very busy weekend for there to not have been any posts made in this thread since Friday! I had a girls' day out with some friends Saturday. A little retail therapy is always a good thing!
Sunday I spent part of the day at my mother's house then the rest of the day out to supper with my husband and grocery shopping.
With the exception of dealing with a sick doggy Friday night, I had a great weekend. How about all of you?
Is your dog feeling better now KimeyDiann? One of our cats Casper (the one in my avatar) was sick yesterday too. He was completely off his food, had a really dry nose and just generally looked sorry for himself. He is feeling much better today though which is good. We think he probably had an upset stomach due to eating a bird, the remains of which were outside in our back garden on Saturday!
Hope your pets feel better all the way soon, KimeyDiann and Lisa :) We got the rest of our things from the old place and turned in the keys yesterday. Had the inspection today and all checked out ok :)
Feels good to finally be done with that place. Now to find a home for all the stuff laying about at the new place :) we took Blake for a walk around the property over the weekend. The lake has some pretty big fish. We might do some fishing tonight :)
Yes, he is back to 100% now. Thanks for asking, Lisa! I have no idea what he got into, but it most definitely made him sick. I was scared out of my mind all night. But when we woke up the next morning he was back to his normal, goofy self.
I'm glad your Casper is feeling better today! I used had a cat named Casper when I was a kid. He was a solid white Himalayan. He was a big sweetie.
Thanks, Stephanie! I know you are glad to be getting settled into the new place. It sounds very nice.
@KimeyDiann. Sometimes pets eat or bite things that were sprayed with insecticide. Or other small animals which (mouse, cockroaches) have been poisoned with it. Have you recently fumigated your house?
I was sick for the first part of the weekend, just a 24 hr thing though luckily. Other than that, just busy with getting things cleaned and being outside a bit in the nice weather!Glad to hear that all the pets are on the mend too!!
I am having a fabulous holiday. The first 3 nights were in Jasper where I met up with a man (and his wife) from England. We've been playing backgammon online for about 5 years. They went to the west coast yesterday, and I moved to Banff. I got a room upgrade in this very posh hotel and am sitting in my window alcove sipping on wine and enjoying the spectacular view. I had a gourmet meal from room service of salmon and prawns. Dessert was limoncello cheesecake. Tomorrow I go to the spa for a massage and manicure. My credit card is going to feel the heat. That reminds me. I should phone them tomorrow so they don't disallow the charges. LOL!
Sounds wonderful Janice! I hope you enjoy the rest :)@KimeyDiann, I'm glad your dog is feeling better now. It's always worrying when they get sick but usually it turns out to be something that passes through within a day or two.
Sounds lovely Janice! Hope all fluffy people are feeling better.
I had my replacement start today. So this week is going to be insanely busy. Even more so as we were planning me handing over over two weeks, but my new soon to be boss told my current boss they have me until the end of the week. Then I am expected in the new office. Frazzled me so much I stuffed the day by not giving much information over and just being daunted.
But anyways, will sort all of that out, but warning I may not be on much this week (maybe I just need to start taking the phone to the loo). So not ignoring anyone or any questions. Just more absent and more noticeable time differences.
I completely missed you're changing jobs Rusalka! Sounds like some hectic weeks coming for you. Good luck with the new job! What are you going to do now?
Well, I got offered the job in Feb, and it's now May. So I kinda forgot about it too lol. Yay for bureaucracy taking so long to hire people!I'm moving in to the Dean's office in my College (what my uni calls Faculties) which is Arts and Social Sciences. I am pretty much going to be doing the Dean's special projects, and the General Manager's (equivalent of Dean for us admin staff) special projects. So when they want to know say how many women are in the College and what levels they are on and how often they are promoted, that kind of reporting and stats will be me. And then just general admin of the whole College.
Problem is, that this has taken so long, the Dean announced her retirement last week. So I will work with her (who I know and have worked with a lot) for a month, then ... god knows... This could be fine, or a complete disaster eek!
Thanks guys :D Oh and don't get me wrong, the current Dean is scary as! Just you know, the devil you know vs the devil you don't
Have to take Blake to the vet to have him weighed so I can get his heartworm prevention pills :) will be interesting to see how much he weighs now since we have been better at not feeding him table scraps ;)
Congrats on the job change Rusalka. I'm sure it will all work out in the end with current, new and future bosses. Sounds like you're having an amazing time Janice.
I ended up having a nice weekend despite the annoying car trouble at the start. The council did a temp fix on in which was actually a very good job and they've booked it in to be fixed properly this week all expenses paid. The gouge Rusalka went right through the bodywork ripping a reasonable size hole in the side so it was very jagged. This is what made it un-road-worthy. All ok now. My parents came to visit over the weekend and we also continued with ripping up the floor in bathroom and bedroom. It's going to be a bigger job than we'd planned but we might as well sort things properly while we're at it. I did get my thumb stuck between a floorboards and a crowbar which wasn't good. I have a fat thumb now.
@Janice, that sounds absolutely divine! I'm so envious! Enjoy your massage today, I'm sure it will be amazing as well!@Rusalka, Congrats on the new job! Hopefully all of the transitions with your change, as well as with the new dean, will go smoothly. Do they have a replacement in mind yet or are they just now figuring all of that out?
Congrats on your new job Rusalka. It sounds like it could be challenging. You'll have the new dean wrapped around your finger in no time. :)I'm debating what to do this morning. SO far, I've just lazed in my room. My massage/manicure isn't until 2:15. It seems that I always manage to forget something whenever I travel. I forgot my swimsuit, so no hot springs. I could rent a swimsuit, but that doesn't appeal to me all that much. I also forgot my white bra, so all my light coloured tops will have to stay in my suitcase. LOL!
Hey, where's Travis? Seeding?
Interesting you ask Janice as I just happen to be looking in. Haven't done more than check about 1 thread a day for the last week. I try to check a different thread each time. And yes got some corn planted a lot of ground worked and a lot of fertilizer spread. Today and tomorrow are probably repair days so I stole a few minutes to hop on goodreads.
To be honest normally I'd check goodreads while soreading fertilizer but we put a gps in that tractor and i have to watch the blinking lights. Three green lights is what you want and for every 6 inches you get off course you lose a green light and get a red light. Now I have to pay attention. I can't even talk on the phone and follow the gps
@Rusalka, Congratulations! Hope things go well for you. The kind of person you are, I'm sure the new dean will love you.@Janice, Your relaxing time makes me want to go on vacation too. Enjoy!
Travis on the straight and narrow! ROFL! Too bad the tractor cannot steer itself with the GPS signal. You can still listen to the audio books, even if you cannot talk on the phone, can't you?Janice - I am glad you are having a great time away!
Rusalka - glad to hear about your new job. Wow!
Pets - okay! Check!
Oh, Sarah - ouch for your thumb!
I am working from home for the next 6 weeks. Our first staff meeting yesterday was too funny when all of us had to call in. I am finally over my sickness and even was able to work out in the yard on Sunday for an hour or two. Unfortunately, I tripped over the water meter in the street side flower bed and have a beautiful black and blue scrape on the side of my left knee and a scrape on my left wrist.
Unfortunately milk orice crashed by like 35% back in December so we were unable to get the new tractor we wanted to plant with this spring. Whenever we get that one it will jave a more sophisticated gps with 2 inch accuracy vs 6 inch and auto steer. All I'll have to do is turn the tractor arpund at end of field tractor will steer itself the rest of thr time. The tractor I'm currently on shifts itself once I set my working speed and is equipped for auto steer I'd just have to buy a better gps unit. Whih wasn't worth the money for what that tractor is being used for. But the auto steer would be nice
Good luck with the seeding Travis. I'm guessing once you get used to the GPS you'll be able to multitask? That sounds painful Cherie. We're both in the wars then.
Hope your massage/manicure was good Janice. I could do with a massage right now.
The massage was lovely, Sarah. I'm leaving the mountains today and will be at my parents' this evening. I'm detouring through Calgary to visit my mother-in-law for a couple of hours first.
Just hopped on facebook to see a girl had about a 25 line post starting with "a week before my period my body starts to". Screw facebook I think I'll check goodreads instead. That was definitely too much frickin information and I don't feel the need to finish the post. Some things about your s.i.l. you just don't need to know
I don't use Facebook much now as you see people's lives going down the pan with their negative updates or someone expressing a wild opinion which I don't agree with. It winds me up most of the time so I don't blame you for logging straight off Travis and heading over to here. I hope our level of conversation is more suitable for you.
Lol Travis. Some people really put too much info on there. I once saw a post of a woman who was actually in labour when posting, and saying that she was 4cm dilated at that point.
With yhe exception of a couple people, most everyone on goodreads I have never met in real life yet I have more in common and far better conversations over here on goodreads than I ever found on facebook. Mostly its people bitching about one thing or another on facebook
I ditto that Travis. I enjoy my time spent on Goodreads and the conversations we have here in YLTO far more than any I've had on Facebook. As I said, it generally annoys me. I spend way more time here on GR. And I definitely have more in common with people here. We have a great bunch of people here.
