Watcha Doing? Version 2015
I think this is my first sharing here .. I dunno why I don't write but I sure love reading about your day life .. For today I only have 2 plans .. Crochet and reading a book, I don't mind going out, but under this wind storm I prefer to stay at home !!

Thank you, TJ! This made my day :)
There was a time I did and still do at times :) I would love to get into pet photography. I can't take all the credit for these pictures though. My hubby and I both took these with our phones. The I-phone can take some really pretty pictures on nice days like we had yesterday :)
Berit wrote: "Stephanie I was thinking the same thing you should definitely consider pet photography :-)"Thanks, Berit :)
Stephanie, loved the photos, so beautiful! Looks like you have a couple great work options out there...both with dogs!!

I hope you enjoyed the crocheting and reading.

Janice wrote: "It's easy to maintain. :)"A week ago I just felt tired of my long hair and cut it myself. I have been trimming my hair myself for years, but cut it over my shoulders, showing part of my neck, is a different matter. It looks pretty good, and it feels EXCELLENT. I don't have enough time to take care of my hair at this point in my life, so I needed something practical and painless. :) I'm still tempted to cut it a little more, but I'm trying to decided if it is not better to be able to tight it in summer. Right now I can tight it with the help of pins. I never thought that put a scissor in your own head would be so addictive!

In Hawaii, the gals all have long hair which they just throw back into a pony tail or up with a clasp. When I'm there, I always wish my hair was longer. Right now it's mid-neck.
I've been really lazy lately. I don't blow dry my hair. I let it dry on it's own and then take the straight iron to it. Before, I was blow drying it, then ironing it.
That's how I have used it for most of my life, long and in a pony tail. I never blow dry or iron my hair, just in special occasions since I feel my ears hot, and I hate the feeling. :) On the other side, my hair is really bad quality, and it destroys easily...
Brave Sandra, cutting your hair like that!I also had long hair until I was 20, reaching to my lower back. Just wore it it loose or in a pony tail, no work at all. Then I got dreadlocks and it's even less work ;-) Except the washing, that takes a bit longer.
Personally I think long hair is easier, I have pretty long hair and I wear it down, because it is naturally curly, no blow dryer, no iron, but it is in a ponytail a lot!
I have thick naturally wavy hair that I just cut to my shoulders again:) I hate it when it gets too long. I love my flat iron. Am jealous of those that can let their hair air dry.

I'm working on 2 projects at ones .. A baby blanket and a table set collection .. Its taking so long but I like my results so far
CFDeeDee, you'll have to post pictures in our "what I just made" thread when you're done. There are a few other cool crochet projects there.

Yes, I was a hippy-chick.
My grandmother never cut her hair and it was way past her bum when she died at the age of 78. She always braided it and wrapped the braid around her head. We had no idea it was so long and it was a shock the one time I saw her brushing it out.

I had no idea you had dreds Peggy. That's Lexx's plan at the moment but he keeps getting annoyed with the length of his hair so we shall see.
I am the laziest person when it comes to my hair. I get it cut when I have time, which may be once every 2 years. Last time I cut it, I had to have it cut from my lower back to my chin. I really loved it that length but it requires going to the hairdresser more than I can. It's ridiculously thick and wavy/curly depending on it's mood. I can't brush it as I turn into a poodle, so my morning routine is get up, comb fingers through it to make sure it's not too bed heady and either own it or tie it up. It's about armpit length at the moment so it goes up with whatever I can find. I try not to wash it too much as well for fluffy reasons so it's usually rinsed with apple cider vinegar every few weeks or so, unless I have a run in with a chicken on my head.
And I think my regrowth is down to my ears at the moment, so I have coppery red hair from there, and then a darker coppery brown up top. My hair was really copper copper auburn red until I hit about 20, and then started going brown so I try and keep it red. But see hairdresser comments.
Wow. I've had loads to catch up on. You guys had busy weekends.Hair - I've always wanted dreds but always put it off and now I feel I can't - I worry too much about what my clients might think of me. That said, I clearly don't care all that much as I'm going to get some bright sections put through my hair. My cousins a hairdresser and he said he'd do it for me. Still can't decide on the colour - conservative with bleached or red (taking in to consideration clients) or blue or purple if I go with what I actually want! Decisions, decisions.
I had a really hectic weekend with courses and visiting friends. I feel like I've not had a weekend now and I'm back to work already. I also ate something a bit dodgy at the weekend which is still playing my stomach up.
Out solar panels arrived at the weekend. So excited. So hopefully by the end of next weekend we'll be harnessing the power of the sun to run our appliances. I bet it starts raining ;-)
My hair is the longest it has ever been at the moment, it's nearly at the mid point of my back. I haven't had it cut in a couple of years but will probably have to soon. It's quite thick and wavy if I do nothing to it so I often wear it tied back. It's a lot thinner now than it was though due to ongoing illness, I find it breaks easier now. Not to the extent where anyone would notice but I notice the difference because of how thick my ponytail used to be compared to what it is now.
I envy you all who have thick hair. Mine seems to be running thin by the moment. :( I have a bit wavy, frizzy hair. I am bad at too much maintenance, go in for a cut every two years, don't use hair dry or iron or straightener. It's just the shampoo and comb routine for me.

I didn't know you had dreds either! Love! A few years back I almost had someone do them for me and then at the last minute I changed my mind and decided to make them happen naturally. I did what I needed to do for a while and I started getting baby dreds and I was SO excited. I dye my hair and now that I have more grey hair coming in I can't stop. So I decided to try dying it on my own with more natural dye and in the process messed up my hair. I had to comb out every single little dred in my hair. I cried. I was so upset. I really, really wanted those dreds and it was starting to take shape. That was a few years ago and I've moved on. Not happy with my current hair but over the loss of my little dreds. ;) Now I just wear my hair up in a clip or straight ironed if I'm going out nice.
How did you get your dreds going, Peggy?
Sarah wrote: "Out solar panels arrived at the weekend. So excited. So hopefully by the end of next weekend we'll be harnessing the power of the sun to run our appliances. I bet it starts raining ;-) "Woohooo! If it makes you feel better, that's exactly what happened when ours got installed.
But yay! I love our solar panels. We don't pay electricity in summer anymore, the electric company owes us money as we are plugged back into the grid. So that along with the solar in winter almost negates our costs in winter too. Our solar tube hot water system helps heaps as well.
I'd love some of that thick curly hair you all have. Mine is straight. My son has the most gorgeous thick curly hair and people just pine over it. He hates that and gets annoyed but it is really so beautiful that people can't help but comment. He gets that from his dad's side of the family...haha.
Sarah, you should go for what you love. I can't remember what field you are in but I think hair stuff is a lot more tolerated these days, especially if you can put it up while at work.
Not sure how old your son is Tasha, so not sure if this will help or hinder. But there was a great/terrible movie (trust me, Australian comedies can be both at the same time) here in the 90s called Wogboy playing on the Greek Australian culture. But one of the catch phrases in that movie was "Curls get Gurls".Used by curly haired men all over the country still. My brother included, who seems to get a girlfriend everytime he grows his reddy blonde curls out.

Ahw, what a tragic story :( Cool that you tried though! Do you think you will try again at some point?
I hope Lexx goes through with his dread-plans sometime Rusalka. And you should too, Sarah! :)
I love natural dreads. I would have liked that too, but I had some help (agony! Over 12 hours someone was pulling and backcombing my hair. Such a headache afterwards), mostly because I finally got my parents to agree (I was 20 at the time so didn't really need permission anymore, but I don't tend to do things that my parents are really set agains, especially not back then) because they met someone with really beautiful dreads, and I figured that with some help they would look a bit more organised from the beginning than when going for naturals. That's 11 years ago now. They started off cute and short, at some point they reached my bum, I cut a bit off because it got too heavy, but almost at bum-level again.
In case you're curious:
This must have been a few days after I got them

This is 2 years ago, but I guess it hasn't changed all that much between then and now.

And this is after I cut them 2 years ago, but I suppose it looks more like the previous picture again right now. Maybe just a little shorter still though.

It is heavy! Especially when I wash it. Once I stood on a scale before and after washing my hair, and I think it made me half a kilo heavier ;)The part I cut off weighed something like 250 grams (dry).

I do think these curls will get the girls...but I'm a bit biased. ;) He is completely not into girls yet (that I am aware of, although he could be) so he would hate it right now. He has really dark brown hair with light greyish eyes (that change with what he is wearing to grey, green or bluish...like mine) so with those curls on top of that, I think he is a cutie. ;)
Oh wow!! They are seriously awesome dreds!I just told Lexx about your 12 hours, he looked a little pale.
Thanks :)He does sound like a cutie Tasha! Dark hair and light eyes is a great combination too :)
Maybe Lexx can grow naturals Rusalka? Lots more patience, lots less pain :)

Peggy wrote: "Maybe Lexx can grow naturals Rusalka? Lots more patience, lots less pain :)"Possibly. Will have get him to look into it if it's what he wants to do. Laziness may just mean he has long hair for a bit, and I'm not complaining with that.
Your dreads look really good Peggy! I thought about getting them myself once too but I changed my mind because I didn't think I would be able to carry them off. Maybe one day....
