I never heard of it not working on anyone at all. Wow!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments It is cold and cloudy here today and looks like it is going to rain at my grandson's first - ever soccer game tomorrow morning. It has been soooo long since I had to go stand out in the rain and watch little kids run around kicking a ball. I have no idea if I even have a pair of boots any more.

ceeeeg | 14 comments had to share somewhere....i bought a lil set of gillyflowers today and ordered the strawberry seeds...

the season is here...yay!...so many plans on deck...especially excited about the two DIY planter experiments in strawberry growing i am gonna conduct this year...a vertical berry 'tower' (out of pvc pipe with planting holes drilled all around it) and a portable berry 'basket' (cheap dollar tree laundry basket with the mesh cut to make larger holes) that can be moved to safety in bad weather and turned for even sun exposure..

that's my news of the day!

Stephanie Thanks all! It was a lot of fun getting to play with all the different dogs :)

All true Cherie. I think it is because of all of the surgeries I had from age 8 - 14 to be able to walk w/o braces on my legs. When I was born forceps was used and formed a blood clot in the Cerebellum - I didn't know how to use some of my leg muscles.

message 1706: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments Anne, that's bad about your blood clot. Did the surgeries help?

ceeeg, great plans for summer! I'm not very lucky with my garden. It's impossible to keep the bunnies far from it!

Hi Sandra!

{{Grins}} Surgeries were very successful, though I walk at a slower pace than everyone else and I can drive.

message 1708: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh my goodness! So the only good thing about the doggie daycare was the dogs. The guy training me spent more time playing on his phone than training me. He basically said make sure they don't fight and break it up if it happens..um..isn't that a good way to get bit or worse? Nothing to break up a fight either. Scary place! I will not be going back there. I called and spoke with one of the managers and she thanked me for telling her but I don't think anything will come of it since the went to high school together. So sad :( poor doggies :(

message 1709: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Ahw, sorry to hear that Stephanie. You were so excited! Poor dogs too :(

message 1710: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Wow, that is really horrible Stephanie! Sorry it didn't turn out to be a better place.

message 1711: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments That is a shame about the doggie daycare centre Stephanie. It sounds a pretty unprofessional place! Poor dogs indeed!

Pragya (reviewingshelf) | 4026 comments Uh oh, Stephanie. That's bad.

message 1713: by Berit (new)

Berit | 641 comments Stephanie, have you ever considered starting your own business like a dog walking business or something, just a thought. , Especially since you live in apartments, there are probably a lot of people there that work all day and need their dogs let out. You probably would get a lot of business at my place :-)

message 1714: by Tasha (new)

Tasha That's what I was saying too. I think that would be a great idea. My neighbor is so busy she is turning people away and she only started a couple of years ago. She has customers who work and she takes those dogs out daily and then there are the vacationers. We use her now but for over 15 years we used another dog walker and she was always very busy as well!

message 1715: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie That is definitely a great idea Berit and Tasha! I've though about it but not sure how to go about it. When we move into our new community I may have to inquire around :-) I wonder if I would have to get a business license and all that..hmmmm.

message 1716: by Tasha (new)

Tasha It would be fun to research it and find out! :)

message 1717: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59896 comments Sorry that the doggy day care didn't work out.

message 1718: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Great minds think alike, Tasha :) I looked at a few websites :) will have to research more though :)

Thanks, Janice:) sometimes things happen for a reason. I wish the place I take Blake for boarding was hiring.

message 1719: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4530 comments We have a dog sitter that watches our dog, Latka, when we go on vacations. She (Latka) never did well in doggie day care centers. So, our sitter comes several times a day and walks her, feeds her and plays with her. If we go on an extended vacation, the sitter stays at our house. She's quite busy and with all the bookings she has makes a good living. She gets most of her customers word of mouth but also put in her name witha couple of the local vets.

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Hi all!! It is me with my new user ID number, to which I have an email attached, so eventually, at some point, I will figure out the website :-) no promises!! Please all my friends, if I friend you again it is me, the real me!

Anne (Booklady) Molinarolo (wwwgoodreadscomAnneMolinarolo) | 1282 comments Stephanie -

Shame on that doggie care center. I agree with everyone else - start your own and take some of their business. It's hard to find good places nowadays to care for our pets.

You have a new GR account? If so, you may be able to merge both accounts like I did when I was using dad's computer. When I clicked "find duplicates" in my books, it showed 2 GR accounts. I then clicked merge and now all is well.

message 1723: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Really!! I need to try that, tomorrow :-) I don't know how this even happened, but it did, I will try to figure that out in the morning, thanks again!

message 1730: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Dodgers are doing well as well, but my son's little league team was crust their last two games :-( once again all of you who I am already friends with, I will be re-friending you on my new account within the next couple days, of course feel free to add me I can't merge accounts, because I don't know the email to my old account I don't know if I ever even had an email,! Connected to it, UGG!

message 1731: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie We drove into DC this morning and walked around the entire basin..will have to map it when we get home to see how far we walked. We ended bringing Blake with us! Gorgeous day today too, about 65F. Will have to post a few pics of the cherry blossoms trees when we get back home. One lady passed us and said "I feel sorry for all the dogs out today." I was like, why? Because they are getting out and getting some exercise on a gorgeous day? It's not like it was really hot out. We also bring water with us for our pup. I should have said to that lady, "well I feel sorry for you because you don't have a dog with you to enjoy the day'" :)

message 1732: by Berit☀️✨ (new)

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) Heck, the dogs around here are wearing sweaters when it's that cold :-) I really don't like when people have things to tell you about your children or your pads, when it is really none of their business :-)

message 1733: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Agreed :-)

Stephanie It was such a gorgeous day! I can't believe all the Cherry blossoms! It is so cool how many there are. There were people sitting on blankets under the trees and people just walking around with their dogs or no dogs:) definitely worth the drive in to see. Sadly the blossoms don't stay long :(

Susan Guard | 695 comments We enjoyed a slow and steady rainy day here at home, We can certainly use the rain. And since we're trying to wait patiently for the Stanley Cup Playoffs to begin this week, we watched watched Manchester United vs Manchester City and then on to checking out Australian Football. Pretty eclectic sports interests in our household, haha.

message 1743: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Yay for Stanley Cup Playoffs!! Let's go Caps and Blues! Who are you pulling for Susan?

message 1744: by Susan (new)

Susan Guard | 695 comments Well, we were disappointed Dallas didn't make the playoffs this year but we're very excited to see Benn get the Art Ross trophy with 8 seconds to go in the last regular season game. Kind of interested to see how Ottawa and Winnipeg do. Daughter and son in law are Penguins fans but not sure they'll get past the Rangers.

Yes! I'm watching West Coast vs Carlton currently. I love this game. It seems like controlled chaos.

message 1747: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Apr 12, 2015 08:53PM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Heh Those of us who aren't totally into it (ie not Victorian) call it "aerial ping-pong" or "cross-country ballet" so controlled chaos is a much fair assessment. That being said, singlets and tiny shorts is not too bad to watch.

All this said, Carn the Cats! And no one likes Carlton. Or Collingwood.

True, Travis. There's just something about those Northsiders that we just can't get enough of. We just love our Cubbies through thick and thin. We are loyal to a fault. =)
