Well you guys have cheered me up this morning! After waking up in a foul mood because I didn't get much sleep, I now feel a bit more human having laughed my arse off at this thread. You guys are great!
Argh, I'm so frustrated! I ordered a second hand book on Amazon, it's being delivered from the UK through DHL For You. I'm at work every day, so the delivery guy has put this thingie with a code in my mailbox so that I can select online what I want to happen with my package: drop it off at a DHL-service point so that I can pick it up myself, give it to the neighbours, or select a day and time when I will be home. Nice service, you would think, if it worked... The first code I received doesn't work, the second doesn't work either. I contacted customer service to ask, and they say they know the problem, but can't change the delivery options for me, I can only do that myself through the website. Which doesn't work. With DHL, if you're not home 4 times, they will return the package to the sender, even though they are aware of this problem. This makes me so mad! How can such a big company have such terrible customer service, and basically force you to take a day off work to stay at home and receive your package, in order to prevent it from being sent back?
Thankfully I have a very flexible job so I can work from home, but most people are not in the same position.
Okay, I got this off my chest :)
Peggy - They sound like the American Federal Government. I ought to know, I worked for the Social Security Admin.
Hope you get your book sooner rather than later.
Okay gals, going to try again to get some sleep. My brain has finally slowed down.
I didn't even know DHL was still in business. They were morons and I don't think they are around this area anymore
@Rus - your poor BIL. I cannot imagine how he must have felt!@Travis - LMAO! I think I like your wife!
Anyone going to be watching the NCAA basketball tournament? I don't normally watch basketball but I like submitting a bracket just for fun :)
Of course. Bracket is in the free espn tournament challenge and my usual $5 pool I get in. Used to do 2-3 brackets but I find it fun to lose $5 better than $10-15-$20. I used to watch a ton but don't watch much more than the tournament anymore. Wisconsin Kentucky. Gonzaga Virginia is my final four with Kentucky vs Virginia with Kentucky winning 67-63
I have Kentucky and Virginia in the finals as well, with Kentucky winning by 3 points:) I'm from Spokane where Gonzaga is and it would be nice to see them go far but I have them going out in the 2nd round.
I am a big football and baseball fan. I do like all the March Madness, so I usually do pay attention.
I'm going to predict that Kentucky, does not win it all! Nothing against the state or anything, they just are the favorite, and I'm going to go against that :-)
I have $5 invested with a winner payoff of $100-$150 which is the only reason Ke tucky gets the winner spot. I certainly don't root for them. I was born into a diehard Duke basketball family. We definitely have no love for Kentucky around here. Besides that the dynasty of Kentucky basketball built by Adolph Rupp was one of the most racist programs ever. It wasn't until his all white squad consistantly couldn't match the rest of the countries mixed race teams that he finally added black players. Today it is different times and the team is mostly black but still that history of their program isn't going to just disappear.

It's a real pain if you owe them money or they need a signature.
I've solved it by getting anything from them shipped to my work address as there is always a receptionist around, even if I'm not.
No joke, Travis! I can't believe Baylor lost :( that was an unbelievable 3 point shot by Georgia St towards the end of the game..
I work in an office that seems to bet on any and everything. Of course we have season long football pools and March Madness (my entire family including my 3yr old grandson participate in those), but there have been bets on pregnancy due dates, baby weights, # of customers coming into the office on a given day, Survivor winner, Biggest Loser winning weight and more.My bracket is suffering with the Iowa St., Georgia St losses. I did enjoy the Ohio St. game just now. I don't watch basketball during the year at all. College games are so much more fun to watch, with the fans, bands, parents in the stands. It's the game without the "personalities" in the NBA.
My bracket has more holes than swiss cheese.being self employed I have to get into pools through my buddy. Having a small crew at work thry like some outsiders to make the pool bigger. I also enjoy guessing the babys sex sincw I say I'm an expert. Really I run abiut 50%. I won't bet if my team is involved for a game or chsmpionship. I refuse to do a bracket with Duke winning. I put them losing early usiallu so not to jinx them. Just like Kevin Harvick always win a race when I don't watch so I dvr ratjer than watch tje end of a race liveYup I'm crazy
I had a cold over weekend. I created what I named the knock out elixer. Ice tea + hearty dose of 100 proof captain morgan rum + cherry nyquil. Sleep like a baby and knocks the cold right out of ya. Anyway I mixed up this concoction Sunday night and then did my bracket. I just laughed last night as I looked my bracket over and knew some foolish choices. For instance harvard as a sweet 16. VCU elite 8.
well we shall see. That UNC game looked like UNC was handling Harvard easily just got in house to actually turn on tv. and wow these games have changed a lot.
Woke up this morning thinking it was a bit dark and miserable outside. then remembered it's the solar eclipse this morning which is nearly at maximum. unfortunately it's cloudy so I won't see anything other than it getting a little bit darker than it is now.
It is cloudy in my part of the UK too Sarah so I haven't been able to see the eclipse either. I ended up watching a bit of it on tv instead. Amazing!
The cloud cover just started to break so I've just been sat on the roof of the boat in my pjs looking through a bit of paper at the sun. I must have looked like a nutter. tried taking pictures but it doesn't show anything up, just the suns light generally.
Lol Sarah! It's a shame your pictures didn't really work. The cloud looks like it is starting to break here now as well so I might be able to see a bit of it after all.

You said solar eclipse I automatically looked out my window knowing the sun had not yet risen.Funny Rusalka
Went 9-7 on my bracket. Not bad if I have an excellent run today.
It was too cloudy to see the eclipse here too.I have no idea what all the talk about brackets is about!
Hi Peggy! We have the College basketball tournament going on here in the states :) every year a bracket is put together of how the NCAA ranks the college teams and who plays who. We then pick teams who we think will win out of the teams that are put together. A lot of us just do it for fun or we can join groups and put in $$ and then win the $$ if we have the most points. Not sure I'm explaining it all..Travis, help if I'm missing something, please :)
No snow here, but grey and a bit foggy. I find March disappointing. When March begins I always think spring will start soon. Then there are a few nice sunny days on which you can sit outside and make you really excited, but it's really just teasing, because soon after it's back to grey and rain and coldish again. I've been looking for tree buds (right word?) for weeks, but none yet. I want leafy trees!
Thanks for explaining Stephanie! It sounds a bit like what we do here during the European and World Football Championships.
Yesterday and today are the first rounds so 16 games yesterday and 16 games today. 8 on sat 8 on sunday. This is the big weekend to go from 64 (68 technically) teams to 16. Next week is the sweet 16 and elite 8. Fokkowing week is final four then championship. Called March Madness in these parts and I'm sure you would have similar with Soccer. Sorry just can't say football.
Oh man that arbys commercial cracks me up. Its so true. The brackets locked. Its out of your hands nothing to do but yell at the tv. And the louder you yell the morr you'll effect the outcome of the game. Night kids are in bed I find alcohol helps me relax and not yell at the tv. Through the day I probably need my mouth rinsed with soap
I put a pinhole in the piece of paper and looked through that. Love the picture. Still have full function of eyes. Typically it has turned in to a glorious sunny day. It could have done it a bit earlier. My partner was disappointed that it was a partial and not full eclipse.
