Watcha Doing? Version 2015
Glad you had a good time Camilla - my question in the other thread has been answered by reading this one!
Not having much luck with engines at the moment - my exhaust fell off my car today :-( but the AA man was able to do a temporary fix so I could get home and then on to work. So my job for tomorrow is getting my car fixed!
Bad luck Sarah. I hope it's fixed now.I'm eating roasted chickpeas right now and I was a bit skeptical, but they are yummy! And apparently very easy to make yourself, so I think I will make that my project for the weekend :)
Had 8 inches of snow at 12:30 when i went to bed. Got up 3 hrs later at 3:30 pajama bottoms and a t shirt i throw on a pair of boots and fly out house into 2-3 ft of snow. Retreat put on appropriate clothing and now at 8am finally have driveway plowed. But 40 minutes was me having to plow the road down to stop sign since our town doesn't like to plow. About 3 ft in road all the way can't see, snow flying over hood but we made it. Since we live on town line once we get to end of road the cross road is next town over and their roads are always plowed. Our town claims they have a night crew and we pay taxes for one yet I haven't seen a plow between 9pm and 6:30 am in at least 8 years.
I love those dried corn kernels especially when they have a spicy coating. I've had roasted chickpeas and soya beans too, both of which I like. Never thought to make them myself though. Let us know how you get on Peggy!Wow that's loads of snow Travis! I bet your town must be pleased you're about then if there is no ploughing being done (or do you just do the roads around your place?) You should set up a sideline! What made you leave the house initially at 3.30am only in your PJs?
I can't get my car fixed properly until Friday nut at least that way it will be cheaper as a work colleague of my partner is going to do it for us. It means I get an extra half day with internet so I can catch up on my GR fix and talk to you lovely people.
Oh my goodness Travis! That is a lot of snow :(We have been having "winter weather advisories" here in Charlottesville. No snow though. They did close a few schools around the area yesterday because of the cold. After living in Omaha with a frigid windchill, the cold here doesn't seem awful to me like it does to the news here :-)
Sounds annoying Travis. I must admit though I have no comprehension about anything you are talking about. But I hate paying for things that don't do what they are supposed to.
I just plow from my driveway to stop sign about 1-1.5 miles. Just so my wife can get to work. Left in pajamas to run and start my truck then while it warms up I get dressed because I need hot heat on my windows when I plow or they ice up so it needs a good 20 minutes.Supposedly our town has 1 truck with 2 men that are aupposed to just keep roads passable through the night. I live in the snowier part of the town we all know they go about 10 miles away where it is lower elevation and almost no snow even though they will deny it. That section of town is only olace kept clear. The next town has a real night crew so I just have to get my wife into their territory. Our town supervisor is a joke anyway we have arguments with him all the time. Every other night at 2:30 am my milk truck which is a tractor trailer picks mybmilk up but cannot get this town to keep a clean road. If he goes off the road the town will be getting the tow bill and will be getting a cll in middle of night to come plow jist a matrer of time

I'm curious about the soy beans now Sarah. I subscribed to this little company which send you 4 small surprise-bags with snacks like these every week (mostly containing nuts, dried fruits and sometimes small chocolates), and they also have one that includes soybeans. Maybe next time!
Peggy wrote: "I subscribed to this little company which send you 4 small surprise-bags with snacks like these every week (mostly containing nuts, dried fruits and sometimes small chocolates), and they also have one that includes soybeans."Is that Graze? I used to subscribe to that and I would get mine delivered on a Thursday - I know it's sad but I really liked Thursdays as my little parcel would arrive and I got to see what tasty treats I'd have for the day. I haven't had them for a while now.
It's called biteswelove and I think it's only in the Netherlands at this moment. They only started last year. But it sounds very similar. I receive my delivery on Tuesdays and I'm looking forward to that too :D
Lol! I was trying really hard to pronounce biteswelove thinking it was Dutch! Doh! I think I might need some coffee to wake me up a bit more!
Ah yes, I looked up Graze and it is very similar indeed :) The way the website looks, how you can choose a certain type of box and rate preferences. Graze seems to have a bit more variety though, with also the cakes and olives and popcorns and cheese-thingies.

On the 30th, there was a letter stuck to my door saying that they were going to plow the parking lot the next day and to have all vehicles removed from the lot. I moved my car to the street. They didn't show up.
On Monday, I looked out, and there was a skidsteer plowing out the parking lot. I ran and moved my car so that he could do my stalls. An hour or so later, he was gone. All he did was plow a strip down the center of the lot. He didn't plow any of the stalls! GRRR!

We are getting snow also. But it falls slowly with no wind so i am not complaning.
The high today was a 1°f with a -20°f wind chill now its -4°f with a -19°f wind chill not sure if we are winning or losing. Either way supposed to be -20°f with a -41°f wind cgill overnight.
Brr, I've been catching up here, but now I'm going to go make some hot chocolate and try to recover from how cold even reading "-20°f with a -41°f windchill overnight" has made me!!!

I am not going to complain anymore about how annoying it is to have to scrape the ice off of my car windows for the rest of the winter now. I cannot even imagine how cold that is.
Travis - no running outside in your t-shirt and pj bottoms tomorrow to start the plow.

I'm with you Mariab. I don't believe temps can get so low. Stay warm everyone! I've just made a jug of Sangria for Lexx when he gets home from work in the 35 degree heat.
Just killing 15 minutes before bedtime - I forgot to turn on my electric blanket on earlier. It is 6 degrees F, here! Not in South Florida anymore...
I can't comprehend those temperatures either. Crazy! Our winter has been pretty mild so far - no snow (at least where I live down South). We had a few hard frosts last week and was around -4C (I can't do F) and I didn't mind that but it was pretty cold in our boat - only 6C. We still hadn't got the knack of the woodburner at that point.
I also find it hard to imagine what such a temperature must be like. Here's the same as Sarah, although we had a little bit of snow at the end of December. Minimum temperatures here are -15C or -20C, but that is very extreme and during the night, and doesn't happen all that often. If we have a very cold spell during winter it can get to -10 during the day, but mostly day temperatures hover between -3 and +10.
We don't have any currently, butbif we did, when it gets super cold I like to nip a bit through the day on blackberry brandy. We have whiskey and tequila but not good to nip on 80-100 proof. Thats why brandy or a schnapps or something is ideal. Not trying to get drunk just warm the chill off a bit. Guess coffee or tea today.

I guess that's one done, one more to go....
We woke up this morning with 2 F (-16 C) but it feels like -15 F (-26 C) since it's very windy here.
Well, the coffee or chocolat with schnapps sounds appealing... there I would consider a minus something weather... (alcohol is not much fun in (very)hot temperatures... (Sorry your sangria Rusalka)
All good. Actually today's was made out of random things in the fridge and wasn't that great.Really? I must say nothing feels quite as good as a beer after doing work or exercise on a really hot day. I think heaven must be that feeling in the first second or two and elongated.
Oh yes beer on hot days for sure. Not so good when the beer warms up though. Those bottle coolers are pretty good though at stopping them warming up too quick. Drinking it quicker also helps.
Well, yes, the flavor (bitter or sour always takes the thirst away). But alcohol drains the water in your body. Therefore is not good in hot weather (your bitter or sour beverage is actually better without alcohol... only much less fun)
It -23C (-9F) here this morning. It drifted quite a bit last night. One of my neighbors has 2 parking stalls behind me which he has full. Now there's a third car parked kind of behind them and off to the side at the end of the parking lot. With the big drift behind me causing some problems in maneuverability, I'm afraid I could back into him (or him into me). I'm tempted to phone security and have the vehicle ticketed since it's not even in a stall.
It's +4C (39F) here this evening and it's raining, so it seems most of the snow that we have will thaw. Lots of water and slush on the roads, I had to drive carefully home from work.Just had our evening meal of pasta with a bacon-ham-cheese sauce, now enjoying the rest of my glass of red wine. Once the daughters have taken their evening showers we will watch "Revenge" and maybe "Arrow" as well (daughters' favorite TV shows). Anybody else following those series? In fact I like them too (especially the six-pack abs of Stephen Amell, LOL!).
I watched the first two seasons of Revenge when they were on tv here. I really liked it, but got a little confused during the second season. I'm currently watching Orange is the New Black, Hart of Dixie and Virgin Jane. Those last two are my cherished hours of brainless amusement on tuesday evening :)

Oooh, you're lucky in being able to go there! Enjoy!
Yes, I'm glad I dragged her to the doctor before our flight, otherwise it would have probably been really painful to her (it was uncomfortable even after the puncture).
