Watcha Doing? Version 2015

The couple of longer ones are:
Falls Festival is tents in Summer, but in lovely locations.
Splendor in the Grass is the one you want, in July (winter) but in Byron Bay - hippie central, northern NSW coast, so mild and sunny and beach.
Bluesfest is a blues and roots festival in Byron a couple of weeks before/after Splendor.
Just by the by, on weather. I was going to post the March challenge tonight, but we had a mother of an epic storm hit us within minutes of warning and the power went off for hours. Tomorrow, I promise.P.S. storm still going. Just have power for now. God knows if it will stay on.
I would love to go to Byron's blues fest! I read Gary Clarke Jr is playing there and I would love to see him live. He also tours with the Foo Fighters in the US, but nothing in Europe. Yikes about the storm! Stay safe :)
Honestly the weirdos are usually the most chill people in the mix. They notmally aren't there looking to break faces like some people. One guy I know doesn't think its a good concert if he isn't bruised and bloody for the next week. Also he always loses most of his clothes in the mosh pit always leaves in shorts and sneakers with the rest of his clothes lost or tore off him. Soon Halestorm and Pretty Reckless will be touring together. I'd love to see two of the baddest bitches in rock (thats the highest honor of women rockers in america to be baddest bitches by the way). Taylor Momsen (cindy lou who of jim carrey grinch) is the most rock and roll voice for women in industry right now my opinion. She gives me almost a Janice Joplin vibe. She has a real nice voice yet has a slight rasp to it as well
Stay safe, Rusalka! Hope the storm passes soon!I went to the country music festival a few summers ago in Nashville, TN with my best friend, she won a trip off the radio and took me :) we had a lot of fun just us girls!
The weather stayed nice with the exception of one day that rained a little and then that night the concert on the main stage had to run short so not many of the performers got to be out long because there was a nasty storm heading that way. We made it back to the hotel before the storm hit so that was good! It was a 3 day concert if I remember correctly.

I don't know what type of bird it was, but it apparently had a nest in a tree beside a sidewalk at one of the hotels. We were quite a ways away waiting on the ferry and were able safely to watch as every single person who walked past that tree was dive-bombed by that bird. It was hilarious, but only because we were able to watch from a safe distance.

I didn't really care for them that much either way until I saw them live... now I love them!
They actually opened for some country band here in MS recently and that seemed so strange to me. I almost bought tickets just to go watch them, but I didn't want to spend $60+ per ticket to go watch Halestorm when I couldn't have cared less about the other bands playing. I'm not a big fan of country music and I'm cheap.
I had absolutely no idea that Taylor Momsen was little Cindy Lou! That is crazy. I love her voice and her music.
BTW, I stay as far away from mosh pits as possible at concerts! I cannot understand the desire to be in one or what sort of enjoyment could possibly come from it!
Speaking of music and festivals, what is everyone's favorite Pandora station (if you use Pandora)?
Yeah we stay in the back nearthe beer tent. Since they always run a 4 beers fir $20 spwcial vs $6-$7 for 1 beer you dont want to have to juggle those 4 beers through thick crowds. One time we were able to push up about 20-30 ft from the stage to see godsmack. It was awesome but short lived as my wife swears the weed smoke was so thick she would fail a urine test just from being in there so I got 3-5 minutes of being almost close enough to get a guitar pick thrown to me but not quite.Don't use pandora because I need my data for audio books
And I think it only cost $55 to go to cruefest a few years ago and we saw drowning pool, theory of a deadman, godsmack, motley crue and opened by charm city devils or something like tht
I've been in many mosh pits at gigs and festivals but that was in my teens. Now I stand closer to the back as I've suffered from broken ribs, various degrees of bruising, getting stepped on and crushed and I value my life (and being able to go to work the next day). Well swimming was nice. eased myself in gently with just 10 laps of the pool. I can already feel it in my shoulders and my poorly ankle is a bit niggly. I'm thinking I might like to get some improves swimming lessons as I can only do breaststroke. badly.
Travis of NNY wrote: "And I think it only cost $55 to go to cruefest a few years ago and we saw drowning pool, theory of a deadman, godsmack, motley crue and opened by charm city devils or something like tht"Those types of concerts and festivals don't happen close to where I live unfortunately. When I lived on the MS Gulf Coast there was a really good yearly festival put on by the local rock station. We went several years in a row, but haven't made it the last couple of years. One of my favorite performances I've been to was the year Limp Bizkit headlined that festival. They are not exactly a current band anymore, but they put on a helluva show. Aaron Lewis was there at that show too and he was amazing!
Another really memorable performance was a few years ago from Hollywood Undead. I don't even know if they are together anymore but I would LOVE to see them again. It was a very high-energy and fun show.
You guys are sounding like my son and his friends :-) you're making me feel old ;-)The last concert I went to was REM which was probably about 20 years ago :-)
I went to a Spoon concert in San Francisco 5 years ago that was quite good - but uhm too loud for my tastes. I attend the local symphony and opera performances here : )
I forgot to answer your question Peggy about swimming in the canal. I suppose you could but I wouldn't want to. I've swam in the river before though. Canals don't have a flow or tide like rivers do so I guess it doesn't strike me as being as clean as river. either means potential viles disease if you swallow a mouthful. I will be trying my hardest not to fall in but it is said that you're not a real boater until you have. summer would be better for this.
Probably not gonna help some of you feel younger, but I am feeling old today after reading the flyer informing us on having to register my oldest for kindergarten this spring .
So funny! When my son came home from his very first concert, where he was in the mosh pit! He was all excited about getting a guitar pick, and I don't think I reacted the way he wanted me to. I was like great :-)he is super into music punk and metal in particular, but he listens to everything except country pretty much. He has even started writing music reviews.
Berit wrote: "You guys are sounding like my son and his friends :-) you're making me feel old ;-)The last concert I went to was REM which was probably about 20 years ago :-)"you aren't alone. ;) The last show i went to was Social Distortion a few years back. I really don't have any desire to go to shows these days.
Berit wrote: "No, that doesn't help, I'm sending my oldest off to college next year!"I have a 25 yo stepson and an 8yo daughter...
I was into punk back in the mid to late 80s, loved it, even had a mohawk. To this day I still like my music loud and hard but I don't listen to music much these days. Instead it's audio books and an occasional podcast.
My son is into punk, but he dresses like a skater :-)I was a child of the 80s as well, but I was into more of the New Wave kind of music. Now I have to confess I listen to Top 40, I know, I know ;-)
It's funny how we change so much from those young kids (teenagers) who thought we would never change. ;)We listen to my daughter's music in the car which is the usual girly stuff: Taylor Swift, etc. I would never have dreamed that I would EVER listen to that stuff or sing along sometimes! haha
That is so true :-) I cringe every time I tell my son to turn down his music ;-) my daughter listens to the girly music as well, sometimes I am so thankful for headphones ;-)
Berit wrote: "No, that doesn't help, I'm sending my oldest off to college next year!"You don't get to feel officially old until your grandson starts high school!
haha Janice. Nicely said! :)My baby is a Kindergartner and I have two step sons: a sophomore and an 8th grader.
Not feeling old at the moment, but I have noticed that I am getting to where people in their 50s do not look that "old"...I'm only 33!! ;) And I have to think of the current year and the year I was born to keep track because it seems like my age changes so fast!
My music tastes are all over the place. I was in the front of my second Foo Fighters concert (like 12 yrs ago), up against the metal gates and because of the wanna be moshers I came out of that concert with bruises and of course only a little bit of voice left. Got one of Dave Grohl's guitar picks, but I was so tired that I dropped it without noticing.
On the way to school every morning my daughter will play Frozen or Taylor Swift songs. And then once in a while it's been Gangnam Style
I've never been one for moshpits or standing in front. The last few years I've started to feel a bit panicky when I'm in the middle of a huge crowd with nowhere to go (like at festivals when a band is playing), so I prefer to stand in the back or to the side. Somewhere where I can still move and see the stage or the screens, and have some room to breath ;-)
My tastes in music have always been rather eclectic. I like something from almost every genre and every time period. I really think I could find at least a couple of songs I like in any genre you gave me. I have been known to go from rock to pop to rap to classical to whatever in one playlist. But my favorite I think will always be rock.
I knew it was bound to happen someday. I've gotten into the habit of getting my keurig coffee on the go before I put my cup underneath. So far this morning, I stripped the bed and put on brand new sheets (I was tired of snagging my toes in the threadbare sheets), put the laundry on, topped up the cat food/water, cleaned the litter box, took out the garbage. I was about to sit down to my computer and thought, "That coffee should be ready now.... oh crap! I didn't put a cup under." Surprisingly there was little coffee to be seen. Further investigation showed that it had all pooled under the microwave. My second cup of coffee should be ready now. The cup was the first thing placed in the keurig.
Ahhh! There it is. Coffee.... in a cup! I'm all set for a busy day at work. Top of the morning to you!
I have a fear of doing that, Janice. I always put the cup under the spout before I press the start button for this very reason. Thankfully you have your coffee in the cup now!
I never understood how the keurig got so popular but I guess most people drink only a little coffee. I reheat a half pot for breakfast then my wife and I split a fresh pot and brew up another one which takes me til 6 pm usually when I brew the third and drink half leaving me half for breakfast. 3-5 pots a day is oretty normal in this artic weather around here. We go through about 4 jugs of creamer a week
Janice, I've done the same thing, forgot the cup :-) and then the coffee usually pulls in the thing underneath. Then you have a big mess to clean up in the morning, no fun.
My morning didn't end there. *sigh*. I have a new client and he must wonder why he's retaining me. First I sent him an email last week to remind him to drop off paperwork that was already sitting on my desk. Then, this morning, I discovered that I wrote his name as Chad instead of Cory on his T4. (A T4 is the form that goes to the government detailing an employee's earnings and tax deductions for the year.) I had to file an amendment, and those are always tricky. I will have to monitor to make sure the government doesn't assess that as a separate employee and start charging him with the amounts on it as well as penalties and interest. Just making messes this morning. Is it any wonder why I'm procrastinating about going back to work not that lunch is finished?
Travis of NNY wrote: "I never understood how the keurig got so popular but I guess most people drink only a little coffee. But then, my son gave me one for Mother's Day and I rarely make a pot now. It's just so easy to slap in a container and have a cup in a minute or two. But then, I only drink a maximum of 3 cups a day. Before my keurig, I only made a half a pot of coffee a day, and most of it got poured down the drain.
Janice wrote: "My morning didn't end there. *sigh*. I have a new client and he must wonder why he's retaining me. First I sent him an email last week to remind him to drop off paperwork that was already sitting..."That's bad, Janice. Take a few more minutes before coming back to work. :)
KimeyDiann wrote: "I have a fear of doing that, Janice. I always put the cup under the spout before I press the start button..."I've done this with my little coffee brewer. Pressed start before putting the pot in. Very groggy that morning. Haven't done it since. Yet ;)

I don't have one, but a brother does, and I've come to see the value in it. Wish my fur babies would buy me one for mother's day.
Wish my husband drank coffee - I find it much easier to make good coffee in quantity than the reverse. I have a friend who brews a big pot and keeps it in the fridge. Maybe i'll try that before I resort to plopping down money for Keurig.
I can make some very good, strong coffee in small quantity with French press set-up. It's kind of a hassle to maintain tho on daily basis.

Can you swim in the canal when the weather is better, or is it not allowed? Or allowed but just not something you want to jump into? ;-) I googled Bradford-upon-Avon and it looks wonderful!
