New Purchases - 2015
I'm planning to read On the Island for the island task. I'm a bit concerned with the older woman, young man theme, but people seem to love it, so I'm willing to give it a try. The leprosy theme is new to me too. I hope it's not too sad or illness descriptive, though I'm sure it will be a bit of both. I'd love to buddy read Moloka'i. I'm not sure when I'm planning to read it yet. Do you have anything planned?
That's one of my other options for the island task :) No, nothing planned yet for next year. Just the books, but no reading order.
If you decide to buddy read Moloka'i (and even if you don't), you might want to pull up the group read discussion. The author joined us and gave us some insight into the book.

I really want to buy The Death of Dulgath, but it's only available in hardcover and all my other Riyria books are paperback. How long does it usually take before a hardcover also appears in paperback? Does anyone know?
Peggy wrote: "I really want to buy The Death of Dulgath, but it's only available in hardcover and all my other Riyria books are paperback. How long does it usually take before a hardcover also ap..."It's available on eBook, and the audiobook comes out next week.
ETA - it's available for trade paperback direct from the author: http://riyria.blogspot.ca/p/store.html
Thanks Janice :)I looked at the website and the book is $15.00, which is not bad. Shipping to the Netherlands is an additional $24.99 though (which is a lot, it would never cost that much to send a book), so I think I better wait until I can order it from somewhere within the Netherlands.

If it's going to take a while, I might just get it direct from the author.
I wondered about the shipping. I supported him in the Kickstarter, so already have the ebook. The paperback and hardcover copies are being shipped.
I whine when Audible doesn't have a sale for a while, and then I whine when they do because I add to my growing tbr. I picked up Eaters of the Dead and Angelfall.
I was early for my massage today so i went in a charity shop to look at the books to kill some time. That was silly. I have no space for books. But i ended up buying Shutter Island and Last Rituals.
Just got myself a bunch of new books :D A Discovery Of Witches
The Language of Flowers
A Thousand Splendid Suns
The Miniaturist
The Goldfinch
Outlander
Ordered two more
Poison Study
First Grave on the Right
Gonna recive them in 2 weeks or so ..
:D
Now I really must stop buying new books and read all what I've got !
I picked up a few more kindle books over the weekend:When Christ and His Saints Slept
Time and Chance
Devil's Brood
I also got an early Christmas present from a friend:
Daughter of the Forest
Casceil wrote: "I picked up The Rook on today's Kindle Daily Deal for $2.99."His Mum posted on a Facebook post I was tagged in on Monday, that #2 is just about to be released.
I received 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology: Shattering Widespread Misconceptions about Human Behavior as a present yesterday :)
I got a book voucher yesterday and thought I'd spend it right away ;-)Half of a Yellow Sun
The Lake House
I have them planned for this year's challenge :)I just got What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I only found out there's a book a few months ago, and it's only 1.99 today. I love the movie! (or did, at least, many years ago when I saw it. And Johnny Depp).

Lots of great titles on your list, CFDeeDee. Enjoy!

I just popped on over and picked it up too. Thanks for the notice. :)
I got myself another book today. I was in a thrift shop and came across A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets. I have it on my TBR and it was only 1 euro, so how could I have possibly left it there?
I ordered
today :) I love W. Bruce Cameron's books! I'm slowly getting my bookshelf built back up from what I had before I got married. I didn't want to move all of my books so I donated a lot of them to the library where I lived :)

I've heard good things about it.

I got The Sunrise. It's a Kindle/Kobo deal today. The reviews are not so good actually but I really enjoyed two of her other books so I want to try this one too.
I ended up buying Brilliance after reading Janice's initial thoughts on the book. Plus it was only £1.
I got Timeline for my kindle. I haven't read any of Michael Crichton's books before and this one sounds pretty good.
I think you'll like it Lisa as it has an interesting historical fiction element which makes it quite different to his other books.
Sarah wrote: "I think you'll like it Lisa as it has an interesting historical fiction element which makes it quite different to his other books."Thanks Sarah. The historical fiction element is definitely a plus point for me. And I see you rated it 5 stars which makes me even more excited for it :)
Timeline is the book I picked up 10 years ago that got me interested in reading after many years of not reading. I devoured it in a day or two. Just don't ever watch the horrible movie they made feom it
I grabbed one of yesterday's Kindle deals - The Paradise War.@Sarah - Brilliance is one of those books that has me tense. Discrimination and poor treatment of people because of their differences always makes me feel antsy and angry. If it wasn't an audiobook, I'd sneak a peek ahead. LOL!
Travis of NNY wrote: "Timeline is the book I picked up 10 years ago that got me interested in reading after many years of not reading. I devoured it in a day or two. I wasn't aware that they had made a movie of it but I will steer well clear of it :)
Peggy wrote: "Too many great bookdeals lately! I got Church of Marvels which is a kobo/kindle deal today."Nice find Peggy! I read it back in August and really enjoyed it.
Peggy wrote: "Too many great bookdeals lately! I got Church of Marvels which is a kobo/kindle deal today."Thank you! I just picked it up too. :)
See, these Kindle daily deals are what get me into trouble and why my lists are miles long. I have so many of them on my wishlist from reading all the posts here, and then when I see them on for a couple of dollars, I want to snap them up. I have both Church of Marvels and Silent in the Grave on my wishlist. Both are $2.00 on Kindle. Do I, or don't I?
You do Janice. You can't pass on a bargain like that! What if it gets elected for the group read in a month or two and then you have to buy it full price because the library has a long waiting list?

Maybe we can even buddy read it. I read The Island a few years ago and it's also about life in a lepra colony. I thought it was a great book and I'm really looking forward to reading Moloka'i.
