There's a book fair right across from work and I just went there. I gotThe Paris Wife
22 Britannia Road
The Promise (edit: oh shoot, I now see this is second in a series)
The Nightingale
If they would have had all the Dutch translations also in the original versions, I wouldn't have been able to carry it all home.
Oh, I love finding book fairs, Peggy. The Nightingale was fabulous. Hope you love it Audible is having a $4.95 sale. I'm looking forward to checking it out.
Peggy wrote: "Funny Lisa! I bought The Nightingale yesterday :D"Hehe, I know! I hadn't actually heard of it until I saw you haul it and being nosy like I am, I just had to go and check it out ;) It sounds really good so I'm looking forward to reading it.
Is it? I thought it was older but I could be wrong. I'm going to check it out. I wasn't planning on doing the challenge because I didn't plan on buying any of the books, but if this one fits I might!
I used a credit at Audible and got Winter. I also picked up one of the books on their current sale, Shadow and Bone.
I'm struggling with the current Audible sale. I want to pick up a few books, but my list is way too long. Has anyone read any of the following books and want to give a recommendation? Wintergirls
The Edge of Never
The Flight of Gemma Hardy
The Time Between
The Good Father
Stay Close
The Glass Kitchen: A Novel of Sisters
Secrets She Left Behind
The Ice Queen
Dark Witch
Keeper of the Light
Open Season
The 9th Girl
The Magician's Lie
Janice wrote: "I grabbed Tooth and Claw on iBooks for $2.99 this morning."I really enjoyed this one Janice. I hope you do too!
I bought a couple from audible myselfThe Divine Comedy
The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II
Aces High
Pines
Island 731
Eisenhower in War and Peace
Midnight Riot
Forensic History: Crimes, Frauds, and Scandals
I picked up 3 more books:Florence and Giles
The Girl Who Couldn’t Read
His Dark Materials
Now I am on a book buying ban until Christmas.
Do you think you can stick to your ban Lisa? ;-)Kristie, I enjoyed The Magician's Lie but it's the only one I read from the list so don't know if others are better..
Peggy wrote: "Do you think you can stick to your ban Lisa? ;-)"Hehe, I doubt it! I think I have more chance of going to the moon tbh! :D I will try though...
Cherie wrote: "Kristie, I looked at your list too, but have not readd/listened to any, sorry."Thanks, Cherie. I think I'm just going to reread the summaries, listen to the samples, and pick whatever sounds good. :)

The sound bytes are what usually get me to purchase or listen to an audio book. Good luck! I should check out my wish list. My daughter said we are going to have to use a credit or loose it and it is my turn to pick. She got the last one. ^-^
I just bought The Woman Who Walked in Sunshine at Costco this afternoon. Another to add to my list of orphan books for series already killed this year.
Well, that lasted a long time! I broke my three day old book buying ban by picking up two kindle books:The Winter People
A Cavern of Black Ice
Now let's see if I can get through to Christmas without buying anything else...
I nabbed one more from Audible's sale - Son of the Shadows. It's book two in the series and I haven't read book one yet. I figured $5.00 was worth the risk.
I got The Last Kingdom for free because I'd bought something else. It will be my first Bernard Cornwell book.
I found a nice hard cover copy of Midnight In The Garden Of Good and Evil at Goodwill for $2 :)
Yay! I'm looking forward to the buddy read. There might be a lot of us reading this book. It's the perfect book for the challenge.
It's not like I don't have more than enough books that I haven't read yet lying around, but with my eye on next year's challenge I ordered The BFG (which will be a re-read) and In a Sunburned Country. Not for the challenge but for no reason at all I also got Moloka'i.
I seriously cannot do book buying bans! I have just picked up four books, all by the same author. They should also work for next year's challenge in case I want to swap some of my planned books out.The Greatest Knight
The Scarlet Lion
The Summer Queen
Lady of the English
Peggy - I'm planning to read Moloka'i for the yearly challenge next year for the 'set in Hawaii' task.
