Born with Teeth is in the sale too, Travis. I've always really like Kate Mulgrew. She did a fabulous job of narrating NOS4A2. It's in my cart too.

I saw that book Janice, but the only book I heard her do is NOS4A2. I'll have to see if you or others read it and like it. It's bound to show up in another sale
True. That tends to be the way Audible rolls. I'm going to get it, but it will be a while before I can get to it since there are a whack of books to listen to before I get to it.

A minute ago, I bought When the Mississippi Ran Backwards: Empire, Intrigue, Murder, and the New Madrid Earthquakes by Jay Feldman. It was the last copy at Betterworld Books for $3.98. The next decent copy is $8 and the ebook is almost $16. I wasn't planning to buy today, just add to my wishlist, but I was forced to buy the book immediately.
Couldn't resist buying Robbing the Bees: A Biography of Honey--The Sweet Liquid Gold that Seduced the World by Holley Bishop and The Species Seekers: Heroes, Fools, and the Mad Pursuit of Life on Earth by Richard Conniff from BetterWorld Books. They were also the last or second to last cheap copies. Also picked up an ebook copy of The Hive: The Story of the Honeybee and Us by Bee Wilson from B&N because the used copies that were in good shape were more expensive than the ebook.
I succumbed to Audible's "win win" sale and picked up 5 titles:Blaze
Born with Teeth
The Girl in 6E
The Secret Keeper
Sandman Slim
I got a voucher for my birthday alongside my kindle so I used it towards these five books:The Bloody Chamber And Other Stories
Naomi's Room
Bird Box
The Scarlet Thief
Lorna Doone
I don't know any of them Lisa. Enjoy reading them on your Kindle :DI just got for a colleagues birthday:
Lonely Planet Thailand
For boyfriend
The Bourne Supremacy
The Bourne Ultimatum
Silken Prey
Storm Front
And for myself
The Prisoner of Heaven
The Kite Runner
And the Mountains Echoed

Some of those will fit Octoberr group read theme.
I bought Nightingales: The Extraordinary Upbringing and Curious Life of Miss Florence Nightingale by Gillian Gill- it's on sale at B&N and Amazon for $1.99.
While not something I woukd normally pick up, I got audible daily deal it was only $2.95 and looked interesting Babylon's Ark: The Incredible Wartime Rescue of the Baghdad Zoo
Yet I just clicked on the link to mark it and see I had it marked as to read. So maybe it is sonething I would normallt buy and didn't realize it
Going through my wishlist on BetterWorld Books and saw that the price on The Three Musketeers, the Richard Pevear translation, had fallen. So I bought a copy.
If anyone wanted to read this translation, they have the movie tie-in edition even cheaper. It's at $3.98.(Still translated by Pevear, though.) http://www.betterworldbooks.com/the-t...

Ohhh! I read them so long ago! Adventures, adventures! wonderful books
I bought
today for my kindle. It was free through the bookbub.com website through Amazon. The site is great! I've signed up to receive daily deals for kindle :) not sure if the site works everywhere though.
I completely forgot I oreordered The Bazaar of Bad Dreams in hardcover because i thoyght cover was cool. King always has the worst covers
Travis of NNY wrote: "While not something I woukd normally pick up, I got audible daily deal it was only $2.95 and looked interesting Babylon's Ark: The Incredible Wartime Rescue of the Baghdad Zoo"I just finished reading another book by the author, The Elephant Whisperer: My Life with the Herd in the African Wild, which was really good.

"It looks like a good collection of stories. I'm going to wait until it drops in price a bit as the kindle version is still £13!
I purchased The Strain and The Best of H.P. Lovecraft: Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre, both were 99p.
Just bought Secrets, Lies and Locker 62 and Boys for Beginners, both by Lil Chase. Boys for Beginners was in my GR's recommendations forever and for some reason I just love the cover. My eyes were drawn to it every time I looked through the recommendations.
The books are UK only, no US publisher, but I got both of them for a little over $10, used, shipping included. I think the problem with adding these books to my TBR list is that it keeps recommending UK/AU only books. But most of them have been wonderful.
I just bought Bird Box as it was reduced in price. Now I've bought three of the books that are in the poll for the October read. I had best stop now otherwise I'm really going to struggle choosing what to read.
I treated myself to this beautiful Folio Society edition of The Little White Horse
which was one of my favourite childhood books.
I bought a couple books today - Broken Homes which was only 99p on kindle, The Heroes for 50p at the library, and Best Served Cold because when I got the book from the library I didn't realise it was book 2 of a series which I hadn't read book 1 for. So now I'm all ready to start another series.
You might as well call those books #4 and #5 because if you dont eead the trilogy first you won't fully understand them. I kbow because Best Served Cold was my first Abercrombie and I need to read all of them over to fully get them someday
Kindle has 80% off on the "most banned books" today. I bought Their Eyes Were Watching God. I started listening to the audiobook a couple of years back and couldn't get past Ruby Dee's over the top wailing. I know that I am in the minority. Most people rave about how fabulous her narration was. At the time I said I would read it again someday in print. Maybe I'll read it for the toppler (if it fits).
I have the trilogy too. I'll read that first then. eventually. normally I don't go mad and by loads of books by same author until I've actually read one to make sure I like it. but I get the feeling I'm going to really like his work.
I used an audible credit and got The Bone Clocks. My real life book club will be discussing it in November. It's a chunkster, 24.5 hour audiobook, so I need a head start.
Sandra wrote: "Tasha wrote: "I went with The Bean Trees on that deal."I didn't know it was banned!"
I didn't either! Not sure why though.
So, just to support banned book week, I just bought The Bean Trees and Get Well Soon. Thanks for the info on the sale!
I read The Bean Trees for the food challenge we did some time ago, and I liked it. It has a sequel I'm looking forward to read. Hope you enjoy it.
Bookbub listed The Spider and the Stone: A Novel of Scotland's Black Douglas for $0.99. It's been on my wishlist so I reached deep into my pockets, past the lint, and found a looney. Sold!
Mariab wrote: "I got:
The Hero and the Crown(I'm in a dragon euphoria since the dragon challange last year)"
oh, thanks! I am always looking for dragon books.
I personally have not found the great entettainment in Neil Gaiman as so many seem. Still I bought a package set of The Graveyard Book, Coraline, and Fortunately, the Milk. My thought is that I can read to my son for the hour I have him after school ubtil his mother gets home and that he will enjoy them. I have had good intentions like this before and they fell flat buy maybe I can follow through this time. No guarantees at this point
