Martha | 1 comments My challenge is 30 books, and I mentally thought "I need to finish The Two Towers" :)

Thanks, Anne Marie.

Four Tolkien books in my challenge, again, this year.

Annette Spratte (lenneaenne) | 32 comments I started reading the Lord of the Rings all over again when I stumbled over this challenge. So I joined! Now I'm ahead of schedule because I already read the Hobbit this year. :-)

Good going, Annette :-)

How far into LoTR are you?

Hi Michael,
I just got started and Frodo and friends have just left Bag End. They had to hide from the Black Rider and have met with the Elves. I'll go back to Middle Earth soon, I hope. If my headache will let me.

I'm sorry to hear about your headache, Annette. I hope you're feeling more comfortable soon.

It looks like you're just (re-)starting your Middle-earth journey :-) The next section in the Old Forest with Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, then on to the Barrow Downs, is one of my favourites in the whole work. I don't have time to 'visit' there myself at the moment, but maybe I could allow myself to read The Adventures of Tom Bombadil soon!

Do you have a particularly favourite part of LoTR?

Hey!
I know that was addressed to someone else but I'm just going to contribute to this anyway- XD
My favourite part of LotR was the scene in Lothlorien. All the descriptions were beautiful as was Legolas' song (I really wish he had sung that in the film) Also the interactions between Legolas and Gimli were amazing, and the argument about being blindfolded with "I am an ELF and a kinsman in this land!!!!" was great too. Book Haldir is one of my favourite characters, and I love all of Sam's comments about sleeping in trees xx

Annette Spratte (lenneaenne) | 32 comments Thanks Michael, the headache is better now and I have reached Rivendell already. I love it there! I cannot particularly say that I have favorite parts of the book - they all have their charms, be it beauty or thrill. But I do have favorite characters. One is Aragorn (whom I fell in love with a little when I read it the first time as a teenager) and Faramir, Boromirs brother. And since I have always been fond of forests, I absolutely love the Ents, Ho Hum!

Hey Lily.grace, I agree with you there. Lothlorien is a wonder and I also love the constant teasing between Legolas and Gimli.

Annette Spratte (lenneaenne) | 32 comments Thanks, Anne! I have now reached Lothlorien, but I am not as sad as I usually am at this point because in the middle of Moria my husband came in and switched the tv on. That kind of killed the tension. You can't get deep into a story with a silly German crime show going on in the background!
