SOLVED. Chick Lit starring guerrilla gardener post break-up solving family mystery. [s]

I read this book in the early 2010s, it was chick lit/ romance/ mystery. The plot was roughly a guerrilla gardener who went through a break up (after feeding her step daughter magic brownies?) and moved to a new area and started to work in a garden for a man and uncover old letters revealing his family secrets. (SPOILER ALERT) I remember the ending which was that a woman had thrown herself into the river with stones in her pockets. (Also obviously the gardener and the man she's working for fall in love).
