Here's where we talk about everything and anything. That can be books, art and crafts that we do, family things etc.
Hi Zara, how is the weather in your area? I heard on the news that there is 2 cyclones hitting Australia right now with winds up to 180 mph!

Thanks for asking.
There were two cyclones hitting Australia. One of them has already died and it landed in the Northern Territory and the other one is heading towards Queensland. Both of these cyclones are no where near us. The funny thing is that they are both very late. Normally by now we could have had four or five cyclones since the cyclone season started which is October/November every year. These have been the first two for the season. The season for cyclones officially ends here in March I think. My husband is a weather forecaster and focusses on the oil rigs out at sea where cyclones are a huge concern.
A weather forecaster! I would love that job. We have hurricane season here in Houston from June to October (it rains a lot where I am). I saw on the news that Australia was getting slammed with two systems. I'm glad you are safe Zara.

By this time in the season we normally have had 4 or 5 cyclones so two cyclones is extremely unusual. We we live is a long way from where the cyclones normally hit so we don't actually get any here. We do get the after effects of them like rain etc. but that's it.
Thanks for the concern.
Hi all. I haven't been on for a while, 4 kids at home from now 14 months to 19 years has kept me uber busy. I just wanted to raise the flag as I have tried to re-insert myself here and there. I have been catching up on my reading because I have been sick (yea for reading, boo for sick). Hope all is well with everyone!

There is a yearly challenge that looks like a lot of fun. It's One, Two, Buckle My Shoe. But it's locked up. Is there any chance that will be opened up soon?

Thanks.
I got some bad news yesterday (Saturday our time). The news was that a very dear friend of ours passed away on Friday night. I actually did some work with him. His name was Fr Barry May.
Terry wrote: "So sorry to hear of your loss, Zara - I will keep your friend and your family in my prayers."Thanks Terry. Please also pray for his family as well. Thanks again
Hi all,I finished Battle of the Books with my elementary students. Did about what we did last year, though I had students,3 of them to be exact read all 20 books. A first. So proud of these kids.Just after I took our 12 year old out of public school and I am homeschooling him. We are reading the Outsiders for language arts. He would be in 6th grade but with no advance placement he was stuck. Anyway with testing he is doing close to the end of 7th grade Math.
I know you homeschool Zara any tips?

Hi Linda,
I apologise for not getting back to you sooner. I've been trying to work out how to answer your question. What sorts of things are you wanting to know about homeschooling?
WIll we be having more challenges this year or bring some back? the monthly challenges seem to be gone? and i'm just waiting to see if we have the randomizer and the seasons one back again? I know the season one just ended so usually takes a while before new one starts? Just wanted to check though. I'm determined to read better this year.
Hello fellow Novel Escapees, Escapists...I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the 2015 reading challenges. Thanks for the picks and feedback. Happy New Year. I have finished Fates and Furies. Enjoy 2016!
Hey groupies! I haven't been around here in over a year and I'm now cleaning out my Groups subscriptions and leaving the groups I'm not active in anymore. I am sorry to say goodbye to you and I know I am friends with a lot of you so I'll still see you on my feed. Thanks for everything, Zara!*hugs*
