Destiny's Hand by Jorden Leonard

Destiny's Hand is my debut sci-fi novel. If interested in reviewing, pm your email and what format you want.

Book blurb:
To serve the hope of Sol, we journey towards Pravda. We carry the torch of life and culture with care and caution. As one people, we will colonize and build a better world.

That's the mission statement. Here's the reality:

Ninety-eight years into a thousand year journey and the generation ship Destiny is primed for upheaval. Two teachers seek truth in the face of an increasingly repressive system. Memories of an original crew member aid them. An alcoholic manager stands in their way, while a crippled artificial intelligence (AI) watches and waits.

Below the surface is more than a cocoon of water. An invirtu pantheon wages a power struggle throughout the ship's systems, and its effects are bleeding all over inreal.

The teachers Artim and Katelle explore intimacy as they plot to disrupt human resources' propaganda machine. Milden, mouthpiece of that antagonizing department, struggles with jealousy as he spies on his obsession, Katelle. Destiny's AI serves the abusive Milden and struggles with coherent thoughts. The last original soldier gives the teachers context around the mutiny that never was and a friendship with the mind the AI used to have.

Nothing is supposed to be valued by the people of Destiny more than truth and privacy, but they are corrupted from the top down. The HR department stands at the pinnacle of passive aggressive tyranny. They evolve truth so what history is taught conforms to their message. They spy on everyone, poised at any moment to stifle rebellion with an ethics lesson.

When violence comes, it is almost a relief. Almost...
