Ellie steadied herself as the ground shook beneath her. A large rock from the ceiling of the cave fell, only a few feet away from her. Ellie jumped in surprise. “Oh great. The sky is falling. What else?” She groaned and continued forward on shaky legs and dodging the rocks.

A large rock hit the side of the mountain just beside Rose, shaking the ground with tremendous force. One of her handholds crumbles and falls.
There's a small, distant light at the end of Ellie's tunnel. It's pretty far away, but it's a glimmer of hope. Plus, none of the rocks are falling on that side.
Rose screams as her hand slips. "No! Please no!" She yelled holding on with one hand.

Ellie saw the light and her heartbeat quickened. Was it really a way out? She hurried to it as fast and she could between the shaking earth and the falling debris.
The rocks don't listen to Rose's screams. Because they are rocks and do not have ears. They continue to fall down the mountain in seemingly endless rain, a few narrowly missing the tribute. The large rock at the other end of Ellie's tunnel starts rolling towards her at breakneck speed.
[[Ack!]]Ellie heard a larger, lower rumble. The ground beneath her shook more than ever. She looked back. I thought I had gone farther than that. And I just seeing things or...oh no... Ellie turned towards the light and sprinted towards it. She was almost there...but so was the rock. Would she make it?
Rose was starting to panic and then she saw it. A vine connecting from a part on the mountain to a tree. Hope. One glimmer of hope. She started to climb to the right towards the vine.
Of course, a boulder smashed into the tree and knocked it over. But the vine's still there. It's just not connected to that poor tree anymore. Still.
Rose took a breath. Ok. She had to swing on the vine. She needed to swing enough to be able to either jump onto another tree or safely land on the ground. She reached the vine and held it in one hand. She tugged it to see how stirdy it was. It was good and thick. She closed her eyes and prayed to whatever god was listening and held with both hands. She braced her feet on the cliff and pushed off with her legs.
The boulders stop falling. You hear a cannon shot in the distance. Congrats. You survived. However, Ellie is still being chased by a boulder. Have fun with that.
Rose let’s out a breath and smiles. “Thank you.” She said to herself. She slides down the vine and lands in a crouch. Water. That’s what she needed next. She ran in the direction of the cornucopia.
[[Ahhh!]]Ellie ran as fast as her legs could possibly take her. The light at the end of the tunnel grew closer...but so did the boulder behind her. She gave one last burst of speed...
Rose changed direction and ran for the jungle.
The boulder didn't reach Ellie, and she got out in time. But now she's, you know, tumbling down the side of a mountain.

Ellie flew out the hole in the mountain like a bird. Only problem, she wasn’t. With a sickening thud, she hit the mountainside and tumbled all the way down.
Ellie landed in the hard, rock littered ground. She laid on her back, gasping for air. Oh my gosh. My leg. Oh my. Ahhh. Ellie winced in pain. She couldn’t see it, but her leg was twisted the wrong way, broken in multiple spots. The pain was blinding and her wrist ached badly too.
Billy ran up too Ellie. He tried to help, but he wasn't a great doctor.
“Gah!” Ellie gasped in pain. “Don’t. Touch.” She swatted Billy away and took a deep breath, wincing.
Billy steps away. "Sorry...."
“It’s fine.” Ellie said shortly. Mustering her strength, she sat up slightly, putting all her weight in her good arm. Ellie took one look at her leg and cried out in pain and anger. Dumb leg. Stupid, old, dumb leg. The movement sent another wave of pain slamming into her.
"Don't move! It will only hurt more!" He said
Maisie barges in.
"ELLIE?! ARE YOU OK?!"
"ELLIE?! ARE YOU OK?!"
“Yeah, I think I figured that out.“ Ellie retorted and turned her head. “I’m over here!” She yelled to Maisie.[[Sorry she’s so mean!]]
Maisie runs towards Ellie.
"Oh my god!! I THOUGHT YOU DIED!!" She yells, fighting back tears.

“Well I almost did. Evidently humans can’t fly.” Ellie said wryly, joking to distract herself from the pain.
Maisie screams in fury, before sitting down next to her.
"OK." She says, taking a deep breath. "What. Happened."
"OK." She says, taking a deep breath. "What. Happened."
“I was...in the cave.” Ellie said, between gasping breaths. “Had to run...from a boulder...” She winced in pain. “I jumped.”
"Stupid." Maisie mumbles. "Well, I choked on sand and almost died."
She sighs and looks down.
"They chose the different arena disasters because of me... they found a way to include every single way I was tortured at the Capitol. It's like they're trying everything to kill me."

Billy sighed. "This is intriguing, but do you guys know where Eve is?"

"Shut up." Maisie replied.
"Shut up." Maisie replied.
"Fine. I'll go find her myself." He said and ran away.
“You crazy.” Ellie snorted. “There’s no way I’m lasting with a leg this busted.” She moved slightly and stifled a cry.
Maisie shrugs.
"Then you shouldn't have thought you were a bird."
"Then you shouldn't have thought you were a bird."
“Yeah, you’re right.” Ellie said in mock wonder. “A turtle would’ve been so much better. Then I would have gotten flattened instead.”
Maisie laughs sourly.
"Yeah. I guess. A cat would've been better, you would've landed on your feet!"
