Sayor really didn't care if Nath felt bad that Paisley and her weren't friends. Say had never really gotten along with other girls anyway. She had always hung out with Hudson's friends and him. They were the only people who didn't make fun of her and treated her like a normal human. They didn't tease her about her cancer or make her feel like she was any less than they were. That's what she liked best about boys. They generally didn't care. Girls however...girls did. Girls were mean, especially to Sayor. They always claimed she was ruining their chances with boys by talking bad about them, when all she was really doing was being honest. Say was honest. A little too honest, but honest. She hardly ever lied to people. Lying was bad. She had been lied to so many times in her life, she didn’t want to do it to other people. Sayor wanted that honest reputation, so she was going to work hard to get it. No matter what.

Sayor felt guilty when she saw that pleased look on her best friends face, feeling really bad that she already despised this Paisley, and he adored her. Did he like her a lot? Did he love Paisley as much as she loved him? Sayors heart clenched with jealousy, and she tried to swallow it down, hating the idea of her best friend in love with this red headed brat. He really couldn’t stoop any lower. This girl was not a good one for him. He deserved someone that brought him out of his shell, like him for who he was, not who he could become. Sayor liked to think that she did that for him. She knew she liked him for who he was, and he didn’t have to change to make her happy. She was good with just plain old Nathaniel Harrison. Paisley didn’t seem satisfied with just that.

Sayor looked away from Paisley when she heard a loud voice summoning Nath. Finally, his crew. They wouldn’t mind letting Say in right? She was cool, and if she needed too, she could beg Hudson to let her into his group, but by the looks of it he had already hooked up with all the really popular kids. He had two blondes under his arms as he walked past, sending Sayor a heavy wink. “Hey Say!” He waved, blowing her an over exaggerated kiss. She rolled her eyes, waving him away with a small smile. Dork. She turned her attention back to Nath and his friends, seeing one wearing sweats and a tshirt come up and chest bump Nath, and they wrestled, being boys. Already, Sayor had decided the role of each boy in the group. The one messing with Nath was obviously the ring leader, the show off and the one that butt his head into everyone's business. Well..okay she found the role of one, it would take her a minute to find the rest.

She felt everyone’s eyes on her and she couldn’t help but want to shrink back into the lockers. They probably hated her already. Okay. Breathe, breathe. Sayor took a deep breath, following her own advice, and then deciding to follow Naths as well. Be yourself. Well, right now she wasn't doing a very good job. She hadn’t spoken to any of these boys, and was trying to figure out how to include herself, when one of the boys said something that stopped her in her tracks. Swooning? Over her? No way. Nath was in love with Paisley...right? Sayor smiled to herself, finding a renewed hope ignite inside of her. Did he mean it? Did Nath really swoon over her? She hoped so..because she really swooned over him.

Sayor took a deep breath, closing off the circle, finally finding confidence in herself to actually meet the boys, the people she would probably be hanging out with for the rest of the year. Plus, if she wanted Nath to like her, his friends had to too. Thats what Hudson said. He never went out with a girl that his buddies didn’t like. That meant Say had to be liked by these boys because whether her brother and Nath liked it a lot they were pretty similar. From what she's seen so far. Nath sent her an apologetic look, like he was embarrassed at his friends. she just smirked, sending him a small wink just so he knew that his friends weren't scaring her off. She actually, liked them.

Introductions were Made, numbers exchanged and Sayor personality was shining through. She had immediately clicked with Smitty's girlfriend Emery, and Jagger as well. She spent the night laughing and talking with the two, feeling more at home than ever. Even though Jagger and her got along great, both with very sarcastic and similar personalities, Sayor liked Nath more. She liked watching him interact with his boys, the way he got all goofy and show offish. It made her smile. Honestly, during back to school night they broke him out of that shell. And Nath stayed out of that shell. Jagger and him had showed her around the school, introduced her to a bunch of people, they bumped into Hudson more than a few times, and he was a really good sport about it all. Finally, the night came to an end, and with a bunch of goodbye hugs and numbers exchanged with promises of texting, Nath and Say left to finish up their fun little date. "This has been a really fun night Nath. Thanks for bringing me."

E M M A | 1540 comments The next few hours, Nathaniel saw Sayor Duncan smile more than he'd seen in the past week since they met. A majority were directed at him, but he found that she seemed to like his friends too. It was a weight off Naths shoulders to see her fit in to their circle perfectly, not seeming to mind their antics. Emery seemed relieved to have another female in the group, often pulling Sayor aside from the boys rough housing so she wouldn't be pulled into their wrestling by accident. All five of the boys were like brothers, having known each other since the grade school era, some more, some less. Smitty and Nathaniel were the closest, only two weeks apart in age, and with family relations that formed when Nath moved into the city a few years ago. They only lived a few blocks apart from each other, an added bonus. Nathaniel, although he was the newest addition to the little group by far, was content with his best friends, and them only. He didn't care for being popular, so long as he had his buddies. They had each others backs, they loved each other, they fought like siblings, they competed against each other, pushed each others buttons. Nath wouldn't have it any other way, and he was happy to bring Sayor into that sort of friendship.

Although Paisely had thought she'd clearly staked her claims on Nathaniel, Sayor was by his side all night. Nath didn't let her out of sight, fussed when she left ay one point to go get snacks with Emery while he was goofing off with his friends. He was teased incessantly about Sayor when she was out of ear shot, and by the end of the night, his friends had even convinced him that he liked Sayor. Alot. They asked alot of questions, far more than Nath liked, such as if they'd kissed yet, if they'd been on a date yet, if they'd hugged. What did it matter? Nathaniel rolled his eyes, blushed a ton, and mumbled his words because he knew how his boys would freak out when he told them about the ice cream date. As predicted, just that happened. Fortunately for him, Sayor had been getting her pictures taken, and the conversation died down by the time she got back.

Back to school night wss full of excitement getting schedules, elated whoops amd cries coming from the boys when they found similar schedules. Nath had all but two periods with Jagger, and those periods were the sport period and math. He and Sayor had a few, although he wished they'd had more. Regardless, Sayor had a friend in every class except her elective, and that's all that mattered to Nathan. She would be taken care of, he was sure of it. His buddies had promsied, sworn to accept her and watch out for her, just like they'd done for Smitty's Emery. Brothers. Paisely had peeled off at some point, finding it obvious and irritating that Nathaniel didn't pay any attention. Not a speck. He didn't even acknowledge her when she tried to look at his schedule, her prying blue eyes glancing over the paper before Derek took it and she was forgotten. He liked Paise, honestly he did, but she had become more of that cousin who went to your school but you didn't really talk to her type of person. He'd also lost respect for her when he learned of the things Paisely had succumbed to doing over the summer with her peers, and he preferred Sayor and his boys over her.

They saw Hudson on several occasions, and he didn't seem as scary as he normally did. The Duncan's were warmly welcomed into their little circle, to the school with open arms. By the end of the evening, they'd gotten pictures taken, ID Cards done, schedules sorted, sport fees turned in, lockers assigned, books shut inside them. They all had the same hallway, with Sayor right beside his. It was his usual locker, the same one he'd had the past two years. Sayor had taken the one that Paisely normally had, and there was definitely a heated tension that even oblivious Nathan felt. Paise had stormed away, looking about to cry as she found a different locker to be stuck with, by the nerds. Despite the redheads negativity, the bunch had their own fun. After the technicalities were taken care of, leadership had a socialization thing organized with music playing and sort of a chance to relax and chat. Sayor and Nath parted from school earlier than the others, off to go finish off their night with a movie at Nathans house. Smitty had jokingly sat down with him before he left, giving him a serious fatherly talk about girls and how to treat them, and what not to do on the first date, until Nathan socked him in the arm, hard, with a foolish grin on his lopsided smile. Smitty always did that.

Back walking towards the car, Nathan and Sayor inhaled the cool summer air full of good vibes. It had been a worthwhile event, and he didn't actually mind going to school on Monday. Maybe... it would be sort of fun. Nath dug in his pocket for his keys, walking beside Sayor casually towards the car. "Yeah? It's no problem, thanks for coming along," Nathan agreed, smiling genuinely at her. He unlocked the car with a beep, settling inside the car and sighing heavily. It had been exhausting and it felt so nice to sit and rest his legs again. "So? To my house, right? It's really all up to you," Nathan insisted awkardly, hoping she didn't feel uncomfortable coming to his house. He started the engine, watching Sayor for her response.

Sayor had forgotten about Paisley the moment she began pouting in a corner. It was obvious that Nath didn’t like her like that. She was too pouty and whiny for Nath to really like. Say was so glad. If he had liked her she would have shot herself. Not only did Nathan like another girl that wasn’t her, but Paisley was a butt and Sayor would have had to put up with her. Ew. Sayor had a class with every single one of his friends, and that was crazy. Like fate. She had three classes with Jagger and Nath, One Class with Smitty, Two with Derek, One with Emery, one with Duncan, and finally one with Hudson. Thankfully Hudson was the only one in his P.E. class. None of these extremely fit athletes would watch her panting and dying in the back. It wasn’t her fault she didn’t have time to work out in between chemotherapy and dying.

Sayor looked down at the ID card she had in her hands as her and Nath walked outside, inhaling some of her last breaths of summer air. Oh how she would miss this. Summer. When she would have free time to escape on “dates” with Nath, or go on her silly adventures that her and Hudson went on, hiking, walking, freedom, the breeze in her curls. Summer was freedom for Sayor. The one time of the year her parents completely ignored her and that was what she loved. She didn’t mind being ignored, it was when they paid attention that they had a problem. When they ignored her she could be herself no problem. She didn’t have to hide in her attic bedroom or stay out of sight. Everything was fine. The moment he paid attention though, things got a little crazy.

She followed him to his car, stretching in the cool summer air. For once in her life, Sayor wasn’t dreading school. She had a locker right next to Nathaniels, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how she looked that morning, and she had the possibility of really good friends. She could see her and Emery getting really close, and Jagger, and her and Nath? She knew they would be even closer as the year went on. Sayor climbed into the car, letting out a happy sigh as he responded to her gratitude. “I’m happy to come Nath. Any time you need a free loader, just call me.”

He started the car successfully, and then was so adorable in his asking if she was okay with going to his house. Honestly as long as it wasn’t her house that they were going to she was fine with it. Really and truly she was fine with it. Plus, his parents were so sweet, and his sister was adorable. She loved them all. “Yeah, of course!” Sayor said honestly, dropping her bag on the floor beside her seat as she made a big deal of getting buckled. Look! This time she didn’t have to be told! Sayor was so proud of herself. “So what are we gonna do at your house?” She asked, her curiousity getting the better of her. What if they were going to cuddle in the hammock? Oo! She could get used to those kinds of dates! Sayor pulled out her phone, taking a cute selfie with Nath to snapchat to Hudson, just to bug him when she got a text from Jagger.

Hey, make sure you and Nath make enough room for Jesus in your cuddling space. And that made her laugh out loud. Jagger. Doofus. “Jagger says to make enough room for Jesus in our cuddling space.” She said with a smirk, winking at him. “I dunno if I can do that though.” She was teasing of course, mostly. But like many people have taught her there is some truth to every lie. So if she was teasing him about that there was obviously wanting to cuddle with him. Cuddling was good. Cuddling was amazing. Sayor was always deprived of her cuddles growing up, and that made her such a cuddly person. She just had to have her cuddles in or she would go insane. Insane. Hudson wouldn’t cuddle with her, and her parents of course refused, so Sayor had taken to cuddling with a teddy bear that she had gotten from a carnival from her first boyfriend. It wasn’t because it reminded her of him..no that guy was a jerkwad. It was just something to cuddle.

E M M A | 1540 comments Nathaniel relaxed visibly and let himself breathe when Sayor agreed to go to his house, occupying himself with now getting out of the parkinglot safely. He would never forgive himself if he caused Say any harm in a stupid accident because he wasn't paying attention. "Sweet," Nathan grinned, looking out ahead over the steering wheel of his car before checking behind him in all his mirrors. Good to go. He honestly didn't have any plans for when he got to his house, when he brought Sayor to the house after what had been like two weeks since she had last come. Watching a movie? Eating food? Certainly his mom would have her stay for dinner, that could be guaranteed with the kind of woman his mother was. Likely it would be a pizza sort of night, the last days before school were always celebratory in his household. Maybe they could have a late night swim, after he put Desirae to sleep. Maybe they could do it all. Nathaniel successfully backed out of his spot with his hand on the back of Sayors headrest, his body ached so he could see clesrly behind him as they were in reverse, his arm dropping back to the arm rest when he had cleared enough space without killing anyone.

As they inched forward in the line from the parkinglot with students everywhere, Nathan bit his cheek for a moment in response to Sayors question. It was a good question. "Whatever you want to... we've got a lot of time until you have to go, 4 hours or so," Nath pointed out cheerfully, glancing sideways when he could to meet her beautiful blue eyes. "A movie, maybe chill out in the hammock again... swim, or sit in the jacuzzi, or... just talk, whatever is fine with me," Nathaniel rambled, his cheeks slightly pink. It was so weird to be alone with her again, without his friends poking fun at him and his blushing. Once they were rolling on the road in his smooth car, Naths shoulders uncoiled from the pressures of school parkinglots, cruising down the streets towards his house not so far from here. Only a few miles. At a stoplight, Sayor snapped a picture of the two of them, giving him only a moments notice to merely glance over with a dazed expression as the result in the picture. "Hey! No, delete that, who's that going to?" Nath howled, knowing his buddies would screen shot it and howl to the moon about his unfortunate face. He always looked like that in pictures, it seemed!

The light turned green, and his car lurched forward as he pressed his foot on the pedal a little hard to get back at Sayor for her pictures. Fine. She didn't drop her phone like he had hoped she would, instead seeming unfazed as she grinned down at her screen. What was it now? Nathaniel tried not to get distracted as he kept his brown eyes level with the road, until Sayor mentioned Jaggers name and leaving room for Jesus. Even the tips of his ears caught on fire with that, Nathan nearly choking at the comment. He was so going to strangle Jagger! Why'd he ever let them all exchange phone numbers?? He'd never hear the end of it! His own phone had vibrated a few times in his pcoket, but now Nathan was so so so so tempted to look. He wouldnt, for fear of crashing. That wouldn't be any good at all. His fingers firmly gripped the wheel, his heart hammering in his chest. "Stupid Jagger..." Nathan muttered under his breath, trying not to show that shy, embarassed smile that peeked through the corners of his lips.

Nathaniel didn't even know how to react when Sayor added her little comment about not knowing if there would be any room for Jesus between them, his smile broadening as he fought hard not to. He was so immature it was ridiculous. "Mm, it might be a little hard," Nath played along, partly kidding, playing along with the joke. Partly. He wouldn't deny that he liked Sayor, alot, and that he couldn't help but smell her perfume in the car that was faint with her movement. He hadn't hugged her yet, only once, and he longed to do it again. She was just so perfect, so sweet, so beautiful, so funny. He wouldn't ever let her out of his grasp, he'd take care of her proper and treat her like the princess she was. He could just feel the force of love trying to smush them together, their hands only inches apart on the arm rest and her lap. So close. So so close. Would the day ever come? Would she ever like him? Or just as Paisley, would she be oblivious to his crush?

Thankfully for Nathaniel, his friends didn't send any more harassing texts on the way home, the car turning into the driveway. The garage was open, as his father had just gotten home from work and parked inside the three car garage. After Nathaniel popped his door open with the shutting off of his engine, he could faintly hear the low rumble and toss and turn of the washing machine and drier, hear his little sisters high voice asking her daddy if he could pretty please play a game with her, and his father's deep voiced response, "Of course, darling." His mother was somewhere inside grabbing the last of the groceries and shoving them into the fridge, having returned to the house approximately five minutes before his father had. Perfect.

Unlocking Sayors door, Nathaniel climbed out of his car and shut it. Once Sayor was out, he locked the vehicle with a beep of the key fob, joining her side in front of the car before walking towards the garage with flushed faces. "Hey, Dad," Nathaniel greeted enthusiastically, his father having turned around to greet them upon their approach. Desirae wriggled out of her dad's arms, wrapping them now around Naths legs. His father clapped a firm hand on his shoulder, ruffling his hair with the other and laughing. "Hey, how was the school thing? And is it... Sayor...? Is she staying with us tonight for dinner?" His father spoke openly, much more at ease than he had been at the dinner two weeks ago with the entire Dunkley family present. As a shy and nervous man, tall, thin, and glasses wearing like Nathan, Mister Harrison wasn't fond of talking too much. But after his sons incessant speech about that same neighbor girl? He was curious.

Nathaniel grinned toothily, picking his little sister up and kissing her soft baby cheek. She was seven, but she was still his baby. "It was great, I got to see everyone again, Sayor fit right in! I got some pretty good classes and my locker isn't by all the seniors again, like last year!" Nathan said enthusiastically, cuddling his redhead sister on his hip. "Yeah, Sayor... she's staying for a while," Nath tossed a glance back her way, winking. It was a daring move, but he hadn't even had tme to really think about it before he did it. "Sayy-or! Why is Sayy-or staying, Nathy? Is she staying forever? Is she going to live with us?" Desirae lowered her voixe, before whispering loudly in Nathans ear for all to hear. "Are you guys going on a date? To kiss like mommy and-mmpf!" Desirae didn't have time to finish her sentence before Nathan clapped a hand over hear little mouth, completely and utterly humiliated. His father stifled his wry smile, his lips twitching. "Des, not now. Shut up, Dad," he moaned, toting Des now tossed like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder while he brushed past his dad into the garage, walking alongside his father's shiny luxury work car before stepping into the house through the garages entryway. "Come on, Say!" Nath called over his shoilder, having been provided with enough time to calm his racing heart beat whole giving Des a stern glance. His father filed inside to a hallway, towards the kitchen while Nath waited for his friend.

Sayor smiled as they backed out of the parking spot, listing all the things that they could do. In her mind she was thinking of all the possible flirting possibilities. Watching a movie was a given, obviously she would have the opportunity to cuddle if he decided to make a move on her. Or, if they went swimming, she could flirt pretty dang good with him, playing games or something. But the jacuzzi, the jacuzzi was where it got a little sketchy. They could pull it off though, right? The last time she had ever heard of people in a jacuzzi was when Hudson went on a student council retreat. He said he Hooked up with the same girl three times because of the jacuzzi. They later dated and she confirmed his story. Maybe...maybe Say wasn't ready for a jacuzzi date. Actually there was no maybe. Sayor was not ready for a jacuzzi date. And thank heavens, Nath probably wasn't either. That filled her with a happy relief that she wouldn't find anywhere else. He wouldn't push her for too much. Stuff she wasn't ready to give. Sayor knew that much. Thank heavens.

Say grinned at the cute little selfie she took, her smile brightening significantly. He was so cute. Ugh. She was grinning like an idiot and he wasn't paying attention at all and yet he looked amazing. He just had this nonchalance way of setting her heart on fire. Every time he said her name it set off a new round of fireworks, ones that she knew with a certainty that wasn't going anywhere. Sayor saved the picture to her device, added it to her story, sent it to Nath and Hudson. "You, hudson and my story." Sayor shook her head when he asked her to delete it. There was no way she was every deleting their first selfie. That would be doing humanity a disservice. Everyone deserves to see the cuteness that is them. He lurched forward suddenly, surprise written across her face as she bit back a swear word. Jerkwad. "You are a butthead."

Say made sure to let Nathaniel know what Jagger said, laughing through the entire time. Ahh she could tell her and Jagger were going to be really close. They had the same carefree personality. No wonder she got along with Nath so well. She could tell he worried about everything. He stressed enough for the two of them combined. It was nice. With him she didn't have to worry about the whole not stress thing. He did it for her. His reply made her die a little inside, the butterflies going at one hundred billion miles per hour. Emery would definitely hear about this later on. Probably with the phrase; "on the inside I was like 'OHMYGOSH IM GONNA DIE' but on the outside I was like 'lol you are hilarious,'" Emery already knew about her crush on Nath. All of them did. According to them it was really obvious, but Nath still seemed obvious so that was always always a good thing.

Sayor bit her lip as they pulled into the garage, feeling a little nervous. Normally the whole meet the parents thing was no big deal, she could do it easily. However, his parents knew everything. Everything. They knew about the cancer, how terrible her parents were, how she had gotten out of the hospital two weeks ago from a cancer scare. This was just terrible though. What if they already hated her? What if they had already written her off as a terrible, terrible human who didn't deserve their attention or affection. That could happen, it's happened before. She got close to a boyfriend, and they were so serious, yet the moment she told him and his parents everything, they broke it off. He couldn't deal with the emotional baggage that came with being in a relationship with her. Sayor took a deep breath though. She could do it. No big deal.

They walked inside, and saw cute little Des playing with her daddy. That was precioius. She wished she had a dad like Des and Nath did. A dad that would take her places and be overprotective and be excited when she did good on a paper for once, or get higher than a C on her overall grades. Or even be worried whenever she went to the hospital. But Say didn’t have that luxury and Nath did. They were so lucky, they didn’t even know. And they wouldn’t know until they lost him. Then and only then would they know and appreciate the strong provider and man that they had in their lives. Sayor would never be grateful for her father. Ever.

The two exchanged a loving kind of weird sign of affection she would never really understand, and then they began to talk about her as if she wasn’t even there. Sayor is it? He asked, looking at her, but before she could answer, Nath answered for her. And then they asked if she was staying for dinner and she got a little nervous. She was on a diet...what were they eating? She had saved her carbs all day for that Icecream cone. It wasn’t a self induced diet, heavens no, the doctors put her on it to make it so she wasn’t that affected by her meds. Without the diet the medication did weird stuff to her body and she got migranes and all this crap. So she stuck to the diet.

Apparently she was staying for dinner. Sweet. Sayor waggled her fingers at Des, unable to help the smile that was on her face as she began to talk and ask all these questions that just went in over her head. Kid talked at like...ten thousand miles per second. Sayor had a hard time keeping up. All that she knew was that one second Nath was confirming her question as to if she was staying a while or not and then the next he was covering her mouth and blushing like crazy. Sayor just watched. She had this dear caught in the headlights look and felt a little werid. Okay could they move on now? Sayor followed Nath with a small smirk on her face, rolling her eyes. He was so hot. She couldn’t get over it. “So whats the plan Harrison?”
