The headmistress stood at the top of the podium, and had on a somber face as she read the bad news out to everyone who had gathered in the main hall.
"On behalf of the Headmistresses, we hope that all of you are doing well, and acclimatising to the Academy's rigour. As you all know, today is the day where we have The Fall Dance. However, before I announce its official commencement, we think you deserve to know the truth.
Unfortunately, our two young students, filled with potential, Linda and Liam, had unfortunately passed away suddenly over the course of the week. We are saddened by the passing, and we hope that the new God and Goddess that will be created will not make such rash decisions to end their own lives. We would also like to remind the Academy, you students, that your lives as Gods and Goddesses are invaluable to the mortal world. You are everything to them. People worship you. You give them air, fire, water, land, shadows, winter, you make them sin, you bestow on them virtue. You are more important than you think you are, and that is why we urge you to speak to our teachers should you find an issue, emotional or physical, too difficult to deal with on your own. We will deeply miss this students whom had passed.
However, as promised, the ball will still commence. To every dark ending, there will be a new beginning. It's a time to celebrate your successful entry to the Academy, and we would like you to maximise your stay here. To make new friends, to learn new things and to even date.
With that, if anyone else has anything to say, feel free to come up to the podium and give your speech. Thank you, and the ball will start in about 3 hours."
She stepped off the podium gracefully, and returned to where the rest of the Headmistresses were seated, waiting for the students to go up to to the podium and make their eulogies, should they have one.

Maya, you were my second friend on GR. Even though you were halfway across the world, you were always the for your friends, whether it was dealing with exes to helping us with our dates for the dance. You were nice, funny, caring, and young. I will always remember you. I already miss you. Goodbye, my aussie friend. -Adri, 2020

Yeah well you still should say goodbye. There is only a slight chance you will ever talk to her directly again.
After several hours, it was time for the ball to start. The Headmistresses said a few words of thanks, thanking everyone for being present, and started The Fall Dance, watching their students stream out of the main hall with a worried look on their face; but they didn't say anything just yet.
