Okay guys so our first book will the "The Bone Clocks" By David Mitchell. Previously Mitchell has written "Cloud Atlas" and that book was very complex. So I guess the initial question I have is:

-What do you expect from this book?
-How do we want to break up reading time- This is about your personal reading speed. Can we do pgs. 1-150 in two weeks? Or do we need more time?

Me personally I think 200 pages bi-weekly is fair but I've been told I read quicker than other people. I want to hear from other people about reading speeds and what we can all do with our personal time commitments

Keith Lord | 1 comments It's a reasonable timeline but a problem might be that if you wanted a copy from the library there could be a long wait.

I think that is a pretty good point. I bought my ebook on Amazon for $11.99. Because I'm modding for this group I'm going to try to read ahead of everyone so I can form discussion questions for everyone. But for people who are ordering from their library or ordering through ILL I want to hear your point of view. How much time is fair to you?

Leslie | 3 comments Is the plan to do a new book each month? If so, Amazon lists this book as having 640 pages, which means we would need to read more than 200 pages in two weeks.

I just checked my library system and we have three copies available, so I won't have any trouble getting it.

I don't think 600 pages in one month is fair for everyone but I think 200 pages bi-weekly is fair. If we started that right now we would begin our discussion on January 14th.

Jennifer (jhovanec) | 8 comments I'm planning to listen to the book on Audio...would there be a way we could break it up into chapters rather than pages? If not, I'll figure it out. :)

Vicki (vbriner) | 2 comments I agree that chapters would be easier for those reading an eBook or listening to the audio.

Amanda | 1 comments I know my library has it in currently, and I also agree with doing chapters. Sometimes the page numbers are different depending on the format and it may lead to some confusion.

Okay so someone with a print book right now help me out here. Split the book into thirds and we'll go from there. One third for every two weeks? Is that doable guys?

Samantha (ageofglass) | 2 comments This book has six different parts, all of which contain a single "story," so I think breaking it up by parts would be best. I have already read this one (and I personally loved it), and I think that is probably the best way to read it.
So, Parts one and two cover the first 206 pages (in my hardback copy), three and four take you to page 402, and then the last two parts will finish you off on page 624. Works out pretty well :)

Okay guys we're going to go with that. Two stories bi-weekly. It's happening.

Jennifer (jhovanec) | 8 comments That sounds great. The audiobook is somehow 21 discs...I gotta get to work! :)

Alicia L. | 2 comments I placed a hold on my library's hard copy and am on waiting list on the eBook from Overdrive... so I will start as soon as I get one of those copies.
I hope to catch up with everyone before 1/15! I can't wait to get started!

Vicki (vbriner) | 2 comments I'm in the same situation, Alicia. I'm number 38 out of 43, so we'll see!

Theresa Hildebrand | 7 comments Should have a copy in hand by Wednesday, when I return to work from my stay-cation. It shows as Shipped.
