Feirefitz | 2 comments Looking for a classic ghost story about a mother (possibly in Corsica? or Sicily?) whose son returns from the war (possibly the Napoleonic wars) after many years by horse, bringing with him a mysterious companion who does not speak. The mother is frightened by the companion (in black clothes?). In the end the son reveals that he has to leave the mother for good with his companion (who clearly is death personified.). The story was probably written in the 19th century and is often found in classic ghost stories anthologies.

Cheers, but sorry, don't know in which anthologies I read this story...
Not even sure it was an anthology in English. All I remember is that I thought it was rather famous! :/
